Good double reaction. As you saw, this video for 'Elevator Girl' had the English version (studio audio dubbed over the live performance - they were actually performing the Japanese version). The Elevator Girl ... I understand that once upon a time someone you would find in nearly every high rise building, department stores, office blocks etc in Japan greeting visitors, taking them in the elevator to their destinations, announcing what could be found on each floor etc. From a video I once saw the stiff legged walk in the choreo was how Elevator Girls would pretty much march in and out of the elevator as they escorted their passengers in and out. There may still be a few Elevator Girls, but they are few and far between now. This English version is not a translation of the original Japanese version. It was written by an American-Japanese song writer and it is about life's ups and down, spinning round, life being a "pain in the butt" and so on. The original Japanese version is about taking a lady down 2000 levels to suffer in a Buddhist version of hell with a floor of red hot needles, she has no choice, and how the Elevator Girl is risking her own life just doing her job. The Japanese version is more popular in general with the fans - not because it is more meaningful (even though it is, the English lyrics are a bit lame and don't really match the choreo which was made for the original meaning of the song), but because the Japanese language version just scans better. Shanti is a Sanskrit word (Sanskrit is a written Indian language) meaning peace. Repeated three times it means peace in body, mind and spirit (or in thought, word and deed). 'Shanti Shanti Shanti' is not Egyptian or Arabic, it is very much Indian or Bollywood inspired from the sound (even a sitar in the intro) to the choreo and the lyrics. Moametal said how difficult it was to get the graceful hand movements right as they were so different to any of the hand movements she may have known being Japanese and they always want to be respectful and try to make their movements faithful to the musical style and culture of the song. The video editor got far too carried away with the kaleidoscope effects - as a result you didn't get to see most of the choreo. At live shows they do have all the kaleidoscope effects on the big screen behind them, but you'd get to see how much effort they'd put into the choreo too. On the album released in 2023 there is another song that a lot of people (who also thought this one was Arabic or Middle Eastern) also mistake for being Indian ... that song it is not Indian, if anything it is Middle Eastern / Arabic / Egyptian inspired Psy-Trance Metal. That song is called 'Metalizm'.

Moa and Momo (since becoming official) are listed as scream/dance. They are basically cheerleaders. The get the crowd going while doing some singing/marmonies. Moa used to do 4 songs with Yui as Black BabyMetal and has also done a few solos on special occassions. Momo since joining has done a version of Headbanger (Momo-Banger) and Momo-Taro for her birthday weekend. The drawings are called hieroglyphics. and the toy that shows the colors is a kalidescope.

Great reaction, thanks... and welcome to BABYMETAL of 2019, hehe... 😁 You are right, that was not Yui. She left in 2018 after not being able to perform since 2017. The third lady performing was Kano Fujihira and the one in the more recent picture you put in the background is Momoko Okazaki. The two of them, alongside Riho Sayashi, were the "Avengers", a system of three rotating backup dancers covering Yui's old spot. In April 1st 2023 Momoko was named officially as full member under the stage name Momometal. Yes, their music is constantly evolving and it's always different. That's part of their originality. 🤘🦊

Great reaction.🦊This was a live performance (June 2019), but it was the official video so the audio was from the studio. There is a video with the live audio from this performance and it is so much better. Yuimetal last appeared in Oct 2017 and left the band in Oct 2018. From 2019 through to April 2023 Su and Moa continued as a duo, so in that period they had 3 dancers - the Avengers Riho, Kano and Momoko - who would take turns dancing (but not singing) in the third spot. In this video the third girl was Kano - this was her first performance with BABYMETAL - she was still only 14 years old. Moametal was singing backing vocals and harmonies as always, Kano as the Avenger did not have a microphone. This was also where the Kami Band started wearing masks instead of the corpse face paint - the white robes had already been swapped for black in December 2017. F Hero is a rapper from Thailand - he flew in to Japan specially to perform at the first two concerts of the 2019 tour. BABYMETAL played in Bangkok last year and F Hero made another special guest appearance. 'PA PA YA' is one of their more poppy songs, so for some of the more metal oriented fans it may not be a favourite ... until they experience it for themselves at a live show. It really gets the crowds jumping and swinging towels round their heads in live shows. It is just one song and it was on an album exploring musical styles from around the world, so yes their music is always evolving, but don't take this song as the template for whatever else they do (especially on that album released in 2019 - even that album has two very different sides or halves with the Light Side exploring the more electronic and pop side, the Dark Side being heavier and more metal). 'PA PA YA' is a summer festival song - and they're going hard singing and dancing about a spicy Thai papaya fruit salad. F Hero was rapping in this song to the same rhythm as mixing the ingredients for the salad with a mortar and pestle. They are pretty much saying that, much like the salad, mixing the right spices in the right amounts into life will make that better too. Earlier this year BABYMETAL, F Hero and Thailand's biggest rock band Bodyslam got together with a 3 way collaboration (actually I think it is F Hero's song, but it is so well done it may as well have been a straight collaboration) called 'Leave It All Behind'. You can find that on F Hero's channel. BABYMETAL and Bodyslam played it live together maybe a week or so ago and I believe all 3 artists performed it live together last night (or I may be getting the dates all mixed up).

_Matsuri da!_ 🦊🤘🍠 Welcome back to the Foxhole. Last year fans at Bangkok enjoyed this song live with F.Hero as a special guest for the third time performing together after this live version 2019 in Japan, but everyone enjoyed this in every concert, it's a hit they don't wanna miss in any of their setlist, except for rare events. F.Hero along with Bodyslam did another super collab with BM called Leave It All Behind, you can check it out the official MV and last weekend Bodyslam played at Summer Sonic Japan with BM as special guests, next is coming Summer Sonic Bangkok when all of them will be playing for the first time. F.Hero is a top Thai rapper artist and he's singing/rapping in Thai language, the title is in reference to the papaya fruit used to make a popular Thai salad. It's a fun song to represent and celebrate the mix between these two great cultures, and fans at the World Tour 2023/2024 enjoyed this song. If you want another rare live performance with Latin rhythm vibes you got "Night Night Burn" live at Legend Metal Galaxy 2020, or with Indian influence like "Shanti Shanti Shanti" official MV, better yet if you look for "folky" vibes then you got "Oh! MAJINAI" ft. Joakim Brodem live at Legend Metal Galaxy 2020 or Budokan 2021, you'll notice almost every BM song got their own unique dance choreo. This song belongs to 3rd album "Metal Galaxy" released in 2019 but this one as well many more songs are exploring a different Babymetal side, sometimes more mature, but trying to not lose their fun. The footage of this was took from BABYMETAL AWAKENS: The Sun Also Rises 2019 in Yokohama Arena Japan, F.Hero was invited for this, the night before he was really in panic with the amount of people and even throwing all out after the show, It ain't easy to face that crowd, especially after receiving some negative critics from BM fans who didn't like his participation on this, fortunately he recover from this and received a warming welcome. Also that night they introduced the _avengers_ system, a group of three backup dancers filling the third spot that YuiMetal left (she left the group in 2018). They rotate so not always you'll see the same one on stage, usually the live official MV before 2020 is with Kano Fujihira, she started this when having 14 years old, so young like our girls back in their early days. None of them have mic or sing and aren't official members, they just dance. But remember that status changed recently when MomoMetal was announced as a new official member. Again, the one you saw in this MV isn't MomoMetal but Kano-chan as an avenger. The official MV is with studio album sound so wait to hear the blaster sound of the Kami Band when playing this live. Keep enjoying BM songs and see you next time 🦊🤘🔥

Beautiful, heavenly music that is un-erringly positive. You were in the right neighborhood on the message of the song. This basically is an homage to all the fans and Babymetal together or the "One". Though suspended over this massive crowd these young ladies project a presence of such peace. Great job.

Great reaction. You were half right, but you were reading too much into it .... but you were still right to get emotional. As they toured the world they were very touched that their foreign fans had clearly been learning the Japanese lyrics to their songs to sing along with them. They decided they must do something to show their appreciation and to reciprocate, so they challenged themselves to learn a song completely in English. 'The One' is that song (although this was the half and half English-Japanese version). You were right to think this song was a tribute - it was their tribute to the fans (who they also named The One of course). This is effectively their love letter to 'The One'.❤ The flying triangle / pyramid .... their producer asked them what they would really like to do on stage - they told him they wanted to fly. This was the solution - and it also got them so much closer to so many more people in the crowd (Moa has said she always feels sorry for the people right at the back of the arenas being so far away from the stage - here is one way to bring the stage closer to them, which was also very fitting seeing what the song is about). They said the hardest part about flying above the crowd was not the height, it was carrying on with the choreo when they really wanted to just wave at everybody ... and I think it was Moa who said she tried not to look down too much as she was afraid her tears of happiness would fall on the people below.

Good reaction. This video was released in 2018 and was the first they had ever released that did not feature the girls. At the time of the release Yui was still officially a member of the band, but because of her poor health she was unable to perform. I would guess that was one of the reasons they went with the Light Side and Dark Side lore - specifically the Dark Side with the Chosen Seven - for the video since the existence of these mysterious characters was being teased at the concerts ... and clearly they were not going to be revealed until the end of the tour at the Dark Night Carnival concerts at the end of October that year.

Welcome back to the Foxhole 🦊🤘🔥 This official MV usually is not recommended just like Starlight bc the girls don't show up here, like you already figured it out it's related to the Chosen Seven and Dark Side era lore from Metal Resistance chapter. Song talks about internal and external conflicts in your own mind, and another face of SuMetal, that's why KobaMetal choose another singer to represent the other side with the growls. When they released this on the 3rd album Metal Galaxy in 2019 it features the growling collaboration with Alissa White-Gluz from Arch Enemy band, live versions after that also contains those growling, is the only time the growlings are credited to someone relevant, so when this song is playing when you see them live that's the special growling you'll hear. Btw probably this song took some inspiration from Children Of Bodom - Trashed, Lost And Strungout, so it is melodic death metal. Fans were enjoying this song recently at The Babyklok Tour live shows and festivals, it's super fun to mosh and circle pit, Japanese fans love this song, that's why is one of the regular on every setlist. I highly suggest to check it out the live at Download Festival 2018 version which is normally safe to react, but like i said live version after 2019 got Alissa's growling as a guest collab and is must in every setlist they play. They will be at Knotfest Brazil, Argentina and Chile for the first time in South America, as well Peru with a headlining show, they will come back to the US for another tour and also Mexico will be part of that tour but this time as special guests for Slipknot, we can't wait for it. Welcome back. Great reaction. 'Karate' was the lead single for their second album (2016). You pretty much got it - the song is about fighting adversity, when life knocks you down and everything seems too hard so you're hurt and crying, its about standing up and fighting on, helping each other through the hard times. They used karate to illustrate this because as a Japanese martial art it reflects their culture - that was a very important thing for them as well. As with a lot of their songs it is also about always moving forwards. Yes, the figures in white were the girls all along and they were conjuring up their own inner demons to fight against. They beat the first, the second knocked them down but they got up to eventually defeat themselves (did you notice the reflections of each of the girls in their own eyes when the masks shattered and it was revealed as them? Not many people spot that). They did watch a lot of martial arts movies to get ideas for the choreo as they wanted it to look as authentic as possible (but they are not martial artists). Moa catching the fly was, as you thought, a nod to Mr Miyagi in The Karate Kid. Mr Miyagi may have used chop sticks (and it may have taken him two or three films before he caught one), Moa caught her fly with her eyes closed - first time .... and she let it go. We all know Moa wouldn't hurt a fly. This song and video won 2 awards. "Best Metal Video in MTV Video Music Awards Japan 2016" and "Best Metal Song in 6th Annual Loudwire Music Awards".

A technical suggestion, if I may: when you pause, go back about five or ten seconds before resuming, that way you regain the flow of the song. You may or may not know that if you tap your keyboard space bar once it will pause the video, another tap will resume play. Also, if you tap the left arrow key once, it will rewind the video five seconds (a second tap for another five seconds), and tapping the right arrow key will advance the video five seconds. This may also help baffle the YT copyright police. Just sayin' . . . again. Good eye! That detail seems to escape most reacters: yes, that is them in the white. Also, if you look close, you'll see their reflections in their eyes as well. Sorry to say that your background music is too loud. And it's Yui, Yui Mizuno also known as Yuimetal. But you've been out of the loop for a bit, soooooo . . . . Keep rockin’ BABYMETAL!!! KITSUNE UP!!! 🤘🦊🤘

Karate means "open hand" and is the art of defending yourself without a weapon. The three in white are specters of the aspects of them-selves that sometimes stand in their own way. Things like fear and lack of confidence. They are not evil, they just need to be dispelled so the girls can do their best. Defending yourself from yourself and your own weaknesses and shortcomings is as important as defending against others. Kitsune dao!

_Ossu!_ 🦊🤘🥋 Welcome back to the Foxhole and thanks for coming back with this suggestion. This is one of the few MV that really worth to watch for the first time and understanding the meaning of the song a little bit, with that being said always remember that live performance is when they really shine, except for certain MV such Megitsune, Doki Doki Morning, Iine! Those are better to experience with the official MV first. "Karate" is one of their stronger weapons along with "Road Of Resistance" from 2nd album "Metal Resistance" released in 2016. It's an uplifting song about keep fighting besides the obstacles no matter what, and if you take a closer look at the end you'll see in the eyes of their rivals that they're fighting against no other than themselves. Some fans also find anime vibes on BabyMetal songs, the only other song I could find with anime vibes besides this one and "Divine Attack - Shingeki", is "Syncopation" another banger. They watched several footage before making this song, one of those were "Karate Kid" old movie, that's why you see MoaMetal catching a bug, that's a reference to the movie, after this she became the bug catcher expert when traveling on live tour lol. The bats and the concrete blocks testing strength is another infamous Karate reference. Btw just in case, the band playing behind in this MV are hired actors, they got their own set of musicians when performing live called Kami Band, they're not always the same musicians but currently this year they've been playing with a western band unlike early era after 2012 when they had a Japanese band. You can enjoy the live version with the blaster sound of the East Kami Band watching Download Festival 2016 among many others but this one is safe to react. During the Europe Tour last month, they played this at different festivals including Rock Am Ring and Pinkpop among others and they did it like never before plus new super cool outfits or battle dresses, it was really beautiful and there are proshot clips around but so far Pinkpop, Graspop and maybe Hellfest are the only one safe from this year, but remember Download Festival 2016 is your best bet not getting risk of being blocked. Also another cool version to watch and meet the new Metalverse subgroup is Karate live at PIA Arena MM 2023, they got their own songs but you can start with this introduction. Next suggestion: - *YAVA!* with Kami Band intro live at Fox Festival 2016. See you next time 🦊🤘🔥

Nice one, haha... Considering the low budget this music video actually had, it turned out pretty well. Their costumes were borrowed or improvised and the babybones ones were made with white tape and you can see it peeling off at some points. 🤣 They are not the band members, by the way. At the time they couldn't afford a real band either. The Kami Band (their backing band in live shows) was progressively introduced in 2012 and became permanent in March 2014, replacing the babybones for good. They had to work really hard doing small gigs in holes in the wall and even in shopping malls just to get there.

This is BABYMETAL's FIRST music video, released on RUclips on November 8, 2012 but it was actually recorded almost a year earlier (October 2011) when Su-metal was 13 years old, and both Yuimetal and Moametal were 11 years old. And the saga begins!!! Keep rockin’ BABYMETAL!!! KITSUNE UP!!! 🤘🦊🤘

The references to a clock/time are probably just references to what the song is about: getting to school in time. 🙂

Haha good reaction. You found their very first song. This was recorded late October 2010 when Su was 12, Yui and Moa 11. The video was made around August 2011 on a shoestring budget - so about a year after the song was recorded, Su was 13, Yui and Moa just turned 12. This was how it all started with the fusion of metal (so they had to do something like put the horror part in) with the J-Pop hooks, melodies and aesthetics (thus the kids TV intro). They had virtually no budget, they were in their own and some borrowed clothes, the Babybones skeleton suits were black onesies with white tape stuck on. The girls were very pleased with themselves - they taught the choreo to the Babybones guys so they could dance along with them in the video. Doki doki represents a fast or excited heartbeat. The song is about a girl waking up late and rushing to get ready for an exciting day at school with all her friends, so yes the cogs and insides of a clock were related to that (you may have heard them saying "imananji" a few times - that basically means "what time is it now?").

_Rin Rin Rin!_ 🦊🤘⏰ Thanks for coming back with this suggestion. Last weekend they already finished the Europe Tour making everyone rocking out with their classic hits and new songs such RATATATA along with Electric Callboys. Doki Doki MORNING is where everything started, they got 11 and 12 yo when the group was created in 2010 with this song but the official MV (Edit version) was released a year later. The girls look so young i myself was thinking they got less than 10 yo when I met them with this song around that time. The backing band you saw here are hired actors called "baby-bones", you'll see them performing live during early shows until 2014, after that Kami Band took their places as a real band on stage. They're singing about waking up and going to school while worrying about make-up and usual girl stuff, this a metal song after all 🤘 There's an Air Dance version of this, with the girls dancing in front of the camera in this same room. There's also a funny commentary vid made by the girls telling us more details about the backstage on this song. You can enjoy the live version of this with the Kami Band live at Legend 1999 and after Budokan 2014, they also performed this at Budokan 2021 celebrating their 10 years and even more recently they introduced the Metalverse era with this song performing and introducing some unexpected performance, you can find this clip live at Makuhari Messe 2023 at NLMetal. Next suggestion to enjoy another live performance: - Karate live at Download Festival 2016, thou the official MV is also cool to watch for the first time. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this and some of your memories. Keep enjoying BM songs and see you next time. 🦊🤘🔥
