Nahhh, this wasn’t bathos, i think Yorishige’s tone deafness is kind of part of the character. He’s insufferable for a reason. He has seen Tokiyuki’s potential future as a great hero for the region and is entirely committed to and focused on making Tokiyuki realise that potential- even where it’s insensitive of him to do so. As a device, the character allows the writer to shift us quickly to the next emotional story beat- which is great for a series that wants to cover a lot of ground quickly while still letting character moments land and not become an animated plot synopsis.

It's a good thing the recent episode's comedic timing has improved. Seriously episode 10 is phenomenal, surprisingly better than the sakuga fest of episode 9. Elusive Samurai genuinely has the heart needed to make a great show.

I still enjoy the show, however the first episode where yorishige randomly started yapping like bro STOP Yorishige shouldnt be making gags at that moment, cause its literally RIGHT after the kid almost dies. The jokes arent even the unfunniest, its just at the absolute worst time. They could've just saved the gags in the slice of life bits and not in the actual serious parts 😭

In all honesty i think this show pulled a fire force with its tonal whiplash and due to this tonal whiplash i just couldn't care less about the characters and so just skipped to the fight seens until, after ep 4, dropping it all together.

I can't entirely agree with your point. I do think the scene in ep 1 ended abruptly but I wouldn't call it bad writing, from Yorishige's pov he already knew this would happen so it's not strange that he feels a sense of apathy, also you need to consider what this show is trying to be. It's a historical fantasy that isn't too serious, that way the story is told in the way I imagine history books would be animated, and the disconnect between the seriousness and comedy distances the audience from the events but doesn't take away from the enjoyment for me and to be fair, any tension would die down once he was thrown off and dodged his way through defeating an army

Assassination classroom had the same issues. Which is why I didn't enjoy it that much, even if I've seen the whole of it. Though this one fixes one of the Classroom's issues, mainly being that it had too many characters. This is a more tight narrative. But the tonal whiplash is still horrible.

Basically, comedy is about timing. Elusive Samurai missed the timing and ended up being annoying instead of funny.

When they arent bickering over Aqua, i really love and appreciate how oshi no ko handles its girl characters with so much humanness thats hard to find in most shows. I do find it funny how when a girl character is just more realistic than an object with a girls face on it, she warrants a disclaimer just in case a viewer might think u could be defending the actions of a child in a situation😭🤣

I would disagree with few placements, notably Zuko's cause even tho he is a great character his firebending is not his greatest asset. Hes extremely skilled swordsman, one of the best in the sjow and i think that it is his strongest side. Thats just my opinion tho and overall it's a really solid list

When there was only manga there, I couldn't understand and I still can't understand, why's everyone so head over heels for Akane, while hating Kana? Kana is cute, entertaining, smart, her being foul-mouthed isn't a problem because it's obvious that she doesnt mean everything bad she says. At the same time Akane, while maybe smart, is a manipulator, liar (she even lied to Aqua, as I remember, even multiple times) and generally very toxic person. Just imagine oshi no ko, if Kana wasn't so strong. Where would she be? She would be buried in a casket after continuous "righteous" bullying from Akane. I like how right after being saved from suicide by Aqua, Akane starts bullying Kana as if she wants her to khs, and NOBODY empathises with Kana. Even Aqua mostly sides with Akane in the theatre arc. WHY DO PEOPLE LOVE THIS THING SO MUCH? P.S. Okay, you can say she wishes the best for Kana. It is true. But what if somebody lit your house on fire with the best intentions? This doesn't excuse her!

I mean I like Akane she practically has a perfect personality but I didn’t know why I still managed to like kana more even tho kana is a lot more annoying and just not as good. But this video just gave me a reason. Kana is always a hardworker, and I heavily admire how no matter how many mistakes she makes that knock her down consequentially, she gets right back up and goes on towards her goal. Maybe it’s how she is incredibly flawed but is trying to improve that makes her so charming to me.

kana is perfect and she can shine by her sefl, she doesn't need any main since her personality and story already good, this is my personal opinion but I think kana is one of the best writen character on this anime so far and I think alot of person overlook her, she by far my favorite character on this anime, also the one who keep me interest to watch this anime, I don't know... but she feel like Ai without truama(or should we say fakeness?)

Kana's character and story make me hook up on oshi no ko, not so much about the revenge story of Aqua. I would kill to have Kana's solo anime centering around her and her hardships. And like you said, kana might not be the best girl for most of us (for me at least she is the best girl) but her struggle and complex writing make her one of the most well-written if not the best written character in OshiNoKo.

Hmm... I suppose Kana is one of the best written characters in Oshi no ko, but personally I feel she, along with the others, fell short because Aka didn't execute the story all that well. I won't go too much into that since it would be off tangent. 😅

Kana is the tsundere bright ahh girl those types of characters tend to be the most popular ALWAYS in fandoms Akane is best girl/written character and honestly more relatable to me I am someone that has issues with ppl, I'm not very good at socialising I tend to be shy, get flustered easily and swayed easily emotionally all are inherent characteristics of akane When she said the only thing good about her was her "Acting" it really hit me cuz I am just her fr I am the introvert aah type of person honestly the only thing i thought good about myself was the fact i was the top student in my class and that my grades were good i guess asides that i felt there really wasn't anything good about me and THIS IS HOW AKANE FEELS just like me she puts on masks to shield her real self from the "public" to avoid the situation that she had gotten into earlier that almost made her TAKE HER LIFE she's very relatable as a person i always feel the more extroverted people always tend to get liked by others(Which is actually true) so I really rooted for her I wanted to see her succeed because SHE IS ME Asides her relatability she's very well written Has great char dev i mean she literally went from not knowing how to deal with crowds to knowing how to She WAS ONCE SUICIDAL and now she radiates with so much confidence She also got over her inferiority complex towards kana and got over her self destructive obsession with aqua She has the best growth and honestly not even close to being "almost perfect" if you ask me I get that she was a great girlfriend but please saying she is "almost perfect" is just an Oversimplification of her character Lolol Akane is best girl/written character in oshi no ko I love kana too but this feels to me the most correct assessment

The only thing that buggs me is her struggle never gets proper pay off. Her win is served on a silver platter, not because she wanted to, simply because Aka Akasaka thought it is finally convenient for her to take some form of spotlight, not for long mind you... 2-3 chapters max.
