The Church of England Christmas Rave-Up
Revs with a difference Thomas Pelham and Jamie Franklin sit down to talk about the biggest issues of the day in church and state. This time:
The Marc Geuhi rainbow armband controversy!
Our thoughts on Only Fans actress Lily Philips having relations with a hundred men in a single day.
And Church of England dismay at Liverpool Cathedral hosts drug-fuelled football club rave, further calls for the resignation of senior bishops over historic safeguarding failures, and the Bishop of Newcastle asking for a "pause of evangelism".
That, our favourite Christmas hymns and much more as always!

It is presumptuous for anyone to pronounce infallibly that the Saviour was not born in a cave, and one that might have had a wooden structure at the entrance. The Bible simply does not say. It only says that he was laid in a manger as there was no room in a guest chamber, or inn as the Greek allows for that meaning. It is a mere opinion that rules out the ancient tradition of the cave/stable.

What ever happened to the Bible, which Declares Revelry to be a work of the Flesh and the sign of an Unbeliever? why is the "church" Engaging with the world and Satan's System by encouraging Orgies in what were once Holy Spaces? Utterly Disgusting and it makes me even more Glad that I left the cult of England Two Years ago to *Never* Return. I would rather be Displaced, as I currently am (the *Nearest* Bible Believing, Reformed, Christian Church that will take me as a Member is 105 Miles away in Lancashire! and I cannot get there right now :( ) than in a building that is also used as a Pagan, Heathen, Nightclub, and thus a Satanic Pit of Iniquity given over Entirely to Reprobation, Witchcraft, and Sexual Abomination in all their Forms!

Enjoyed this episode and appreciate all you guys do. Happy Christmas! Good discussion re Lily Philips, which in one sense we can be thankful for, in that it could be seen to illustrate the sordid logical outcome of the sexual revolution. I actually think the very idea of "having sex" is deeply unChristian. To put it bluntly if sperm is ejaculated elsewhere than into the womb of a lifelong female spouse the devil has won. What should be the expression of loving self giving between man and wife becomes simply the random stimulation of body parts for short term gratification. A tragic abuse of the God given force of creation. It's significant that the LGBT agenda which TPTB are determined to foist on our children includes the normalisation and indeed celebration of masturbation. I think you're right to quote sources that claim that the majority of men masturbate and use pornography but that's because nobody has ever explained the pitfalls. Over the years I've known a lot of men addicted to porn and gaining mastery in this area always leads to better physical and mental health, not to speak of the elevation of the soul. And the development of a much more wholesome attitude to the opposite sex.

I explain to them "I'm behaving as though swimming exists" They may well say to me, we have fine beaches here on the Isle of Wight, we also have lovely heated swimming pools close at hand, why not - you know - actually swim? Quite surprised about the UFO part at the end. The one common factor about all these sightings is that they involve the US military. Even the recent sighting at RAF Lakenheath in the UK is from the US military. RAF Lakenheath is a US airbase. Bentwaters was a US airbase, close to Lakenheath, where the base commander claimed aliens had landed in the forest nearby in 1981. All of this comes out of the US military and that makes me suspicious. I do know there are historical claims of UFOs, there are stories of UFOs over battlefields during the Greek empire for instance. The story now is that the UFOs are interested in nuclear weapons. Well, the Greeks didn't have any of those so what was the motive back then?

The claim about hunter gatherers having much longer lifespans has an element of truth to it but it depends on the context. Agriculture and hunter gathering has happened all over the world throughout history. There is evidence that farmers often had a lower calorie and nutritional count. Agriculture also spawned urban living which brought disease etc. It also created surplus which meant more opportunities for oppression. However it is way more complicated than that. Many hunter gatherer societies were plagued by endless petty fighting against rivals. Broadly speaking I think we should be living more like hunter gatherers or replicating their lifestyle in many ways. But a society that abandons agriculture and urbanism en masse will simply be conquered by those that haven’t. Hunter gatherer societies are also less able to sustain large populations. You could never have a welfare safety net. In many ways it would be quite a tooth in claw existence in which only the strong survive. Whereas thousands of peasants could survive and pass on their genes even if they were fairly miserable

Sorry, I think you completely misunderstood Paul Kingsnorth. He is doubting the idea of mechanical-technological (machine-like) features of civilisation and argues that to stick a Christian label onto this machine is not enough to "tame" it. Paul is no fool and not ignorant either.

I'm sorry but this is just not what Kingsnorth says in this lecture. It's far broader than that. I even played a clip in which he says, "It's not just Christian civilisation. It's all civilisation." Meaning that all civilisation is inimical to the purposes of God. He doesn't talk only about 'mechanical-technological features of civilization' as you say but civilisation in general. And, even if he did, my critique of his handling of the question of hospitals would still apply because hospitals must rely to some extent upon mechanisms and technology. Also, if you listened to my argument outlined here, you will know that I am not proposing trying to "tame" civilisation by calling it Christian but I am saying that Western Civilisation has been fundamentally intertwined with Christianity from the beginning (some Kingsnorth says in the beginning of this lecture) and has been all the better for it...until now. Kingsnorth definitely a tree-hugging activist. Islam is here. Here. He is useless. Maybe worse than useless.

To be against Christian Civilization is to be against God's work and to deny the benefits that have been brought to many nations of the world through the establishing of the Church in them. As Scripture prophesied, kings and queens became helpers of the Church and its mission to bring people to faith and righteousness. Kingdoms of this world have become kingdoms of our God and of his Christ, millions have been reconciled to God and neighbour, and social conditions have become more humane. Of course, this work has always been marred by people's sin, and there has always been a strugggle to restrain evil and uphold the good, something which God holds rulers responsible to use force to do, as the Church gives the ideal and spiritual strength to promote truth and goodness. We are witnessing today a revolt against the Church and goodness. These are days of apostasy within the historic churches, including Rome, Canterbury, Constantinople etc.

Kingsnorth is another celebrity "convert" from unbelief who seems to be trying, like Martin Shaw, to import non Christian mythology and pseudo mysticism into the church. Shaw is reported to have said he would have wished St John to have used mythos instead of Logos in his Gospel. They seem to want, with their talk of re wilding etc, to re imagine Christianity and shape it into something more to their liking, incorporating their former pseudo spirituality and theosophical pan religious ideas.

@@irreverendfaithandcurrenta1843 I am grateful for your analysis here. I should recommend it to Paul Vanderklay, who has discussed Kingsnorth on his channel. Kingsnorth and Shaw have been given much attention in what Paul calls "this little corner" of the internet.

Thank you for this Jamie, very helpful. I usually have a lot of time for Paul Kingsnorth but, like you, I found that his lecture made some odd claims, especially coming from an Eastern Orthodox Christian.
