Every once in a while, a revolutionary gem comes along in the world of motorsport. In the world of 1980s rallying, this was the Audi Quattro. The Audi Quattro changed the game leaving competitors such as Lancia behind. But what made it so special? Dude I love your channel. I’ve watched all your videos, I don’t know how you don’t have more views. Honestly I think if you put the name of the car in your title that it would help. Your videos are never going to show up in a random search because the titles are so random. I just came across your videos by accident.
Thank you for your feedback!
wait so they were the first to domimate the WRC with their AWD and IMSA with their AWD, and they also were the first to dominate with a hybrid system?
Damn, Thats my celica🔥
Ironically I now have an Audi Diesel and despite it having Half the BHP of my previous Petrol car It has exactly the same Torque.
brother be honest is this ai generated?
0% of this is AI 👌🏽
What about the Toyota tractor
Im not surpirsed later on the real LeMans is gonna be filled with a bunch of former GT 7 sweats
All that and no rolling coal 🙄

Yuu Takasaki's Audi R10 TDI, AUDI R15 TDI, and Coco Hayashi's Audi R18 TDI 2011 are my all time favourite Audi Hybrid LMP1 Racecars. It also appears in GT5 to Project CARS 2 (Not Audi R15).
I know it's a video about the Mazda 787B but I want to say 2 words you apparently forgot by half of the video. Three words: Johnny fuckin' Herbert.
I can’t wait to see what Audi is going to do in F1. I hope they come in and wipe the floor
great video!! I would encourage people to go test drive one because AS MUCH AS i want to love it!! (i drive a 17 Focus RS, I almost put a deposit down for one) After test drove it This car has made compromises to appeal to the mass which lost its soul a bit for the hardcore enthusiasts. I dont blame Toyota tho cuz at the end of the day they are no charity shops. they need to make money and sell as many as them possible. but thats what makes it less special! Couple things it was far away from the RS. Steering is VERY light. Suspension in the most hardcore setting is still soft. BIG turbo lag (no power under 5k rpm) even they claimed to have a small turbo. but 300 bhp out a 3L engine. there are physical limitations on how you achieving 300 hp. Does not sound good (i drove the circuit edition) the drone from the exhaust is very bad and unpleasant Yes I am aware RS is not as a good a daily of the GR Corolla. cuz the stiff suspension and the HORRIBLE turning radius. but because these things are what made the RS special.
When i see the Yaris WRC i think "oh cool" When i see the GR Yaris Rally1 i shit my pants
The 787b isn't fast, it only had 1 win before le mans and only won because of reliability because the fia changed the rules right before le mans
let's not forget the ST205 GT-Four with quite possibly the most genius cheat in racing 4:53 that's a Gumpert Apollo, wasn't expecting such a rare car to go racing
I own a Toyota Yaris GR Rallye And there is one downside to that car - Everything else you get into feels boring
What is the real game? How practical can it really be to have an extraordinarily difficult game such as rallying? The unpredictable track, the unpredictable traction, the unpredictable corners, the lack of safety. This may actually reveal i suppose it might beso. I get all sassy like a 19 year old girl trying to keep things her way. And I dont know where I picked that up at.
Finland mentioned, must watch.
People that saw Lamborghini 69
Ha ha no it wasn't 😄😄😄
it's also funny that yaris is the turkish word for competition or race
You got me with the “side quest “ reference, I love the content from all of you
thank you!
Everyone is forgetting that Le Mans is all about endurance not about how fast you can go
11:26 damn if that car didn't turned back midair, the steward would be dead bro
How I totaled one of these with 1400km was great aswell
😢
6:15 actually they tried the GT86 first before deciding to pick the Yaris. Imagine if they picked the 86. ruclips.net/video/nxxGAkRKPac/видео.html ruclips.net/video/FSF4SLLSFvs/видео.html
We will see if Audi can get success in f1 in 2026
The 787b was not banned for being too fast. It was always going to be banned due to its engine being outlawed due to a change in regulations. The car was not fast.
That's a huge engine for such a small bonet
Give it credit it was fast, but in group C with cars like the C9 or xjr-9 no it wasn’t “too fast”.
Howdy Hound Dog. I vaguely remember something rather like this a couple of months ago, which begs that question of whether you maybe running low on material. I always wrote that I didn't want to mention any suggestions because your content was always more entertaining that anything I might think of. Now however, maybe it could be wholesome to gather from that word 'legends' some historical scope and examine some of the legends from back before the Toyota 2000, even back to the Bugatti Type 35, or the more interesting saloon cars, like the Cord or the Duesenberg. The Edsel? There are legends that never made the circuit but that doesn't make them less legendary. Perhaps just less entertaining to teenagers... See you next time.
If you’ve ever driven a 787b in a racing game against other contemporary Group C cars, you’ll find that it’s actually not the fastest by any margin. It just got incredibly lucky at Le Mans and ended up being the most reliable car on the grid. I’m not trying to say that to insult the car or Mazda’s win, but it’s simply the truth.
the car wasn't banned because it was fast it was banned because of engine regulations which mazda were even late to apply
looking at an SUV quattro now (best rally car ever), when the Lancia Delta was right there. lol
Audi should race in WEC & IMSA with a hyper car. I would love to see them dominate the other manufacturers.
They had plans to, but dropped them once they decided they were going to do F1. The rumor is their WEC and IMSA car was going to be released for a shakedown within a few weeks of the F1 announcement.
keep up the good work!!
The 787B was not a fast car. The reason it was outlawed in the Group C era was because the rotary engine didn't coincide with the 3.5l N/A engine rule that the FIA was placing on the prototypes. Hell, the only reason it raced in '91 was because Mazda begged the FIA for one more year, just so they could prove that the wankel concept worked.. If you look at the WEC Hypercar rulebook today, you'll notice that there isn't anything ruling out the rotary engine.
They downtuned 787, because of reliability, but after the race they looked at the engine and realized that they could have had the same power as the other cars and the engine would have lasted the whole race .. so we will never know how fast it really is
Mazda was one of the underdogs like Toyota and Nissan. Although the Rotary engine is reliable, it doesn’t go as fast as Mercedes, Peugeot, Jaguar or even Porsche. They only won Le Mans and not the other. Not that much of “Legendary” to me.
They downtuned 787 because of reliability, but after the race they looked at the engine and realized that they could have had the same power as the other cars and the engine would have lasted the whole race .. so we will never know how fast it really is
....huh soo your telling me that an engine layout is still outlawed (not banned) from motorsport due to a rather restrictive and catastrophicly expensive regulation set from a now *Dead series* from 30 years ago? And having that layout raced only a couple of years later in the LMP2 category (the Kudzu LMP2)...yeah blud...yeah... "Banned" for sure!
Just look at its racing history.. yeah it won it had to be there to win. But it wasn’t a winner in the overall championship. Kinda like Ferrari endurance rn, 2 lemans wins that’s it
The video is good but the 787B was never banned from Le Mans for being "too fast". The FIA announced that they were changing the rules and regulations for participating in the race and the 787B, which ran on a rotary engine, didn't meet those requirements so it would be banned from the next season
Mazda even got a break from the FIA by being allowed to run without the 100 kg weight penalty the other old-style Group C cars got. Mazda themselves argued they weren't competitive and the rotary would be outlawed anyway so please no more weight. FIA/ACO agreed. That weight advantage helped the 787B to be more efficient and reduced stress on the engine, helping it to run longer stints and be more reliable. The rest was pure luck.
The 787b was never fast it was a bad car it was a combination of luck and the fia fiddling with the rules that made them win The rotor was never banned because it was better
Wasn’t it an old jag with a rotary motor
@@danielsizer2222 yeah the 787b is kinda just an old jag with an underpowered rotary
The 787 was a good car, it was impressive. If we ran that Le Mans 10 more times with the same competitors, it probably would lose 9 times out of 10, that's true. But I think it's a bit disingenuous to say it's a bad car, and Le Mans is about making sure your car can survive and you can stay competitive for 24 hours and capitalize on the errors of others. Was it the fastest car on the grid? No. Was it some good luck that got them the win, sure. But luck alone won't win you a Le Mans.
It's still pretty good catching up to 3rd but the Mercedes is more unreliable making the 787b won
The 787B was only lucky. Mercedes was unlucky, Porsche hadnt updated their car in years and Jaguar IDK
It updated the 962 to thr 962 TS and they finished on P7(the best finish)
The Mazda team was the best among the competitors at Le Mans in 1991, so the Mazda 727B won the entire race. Luck has nothing to do with winning at Le Mans, if a car crashes due to mechanical failure, it's because of the way it was designed and manufactured, if a driver makes a mistake and crashes, it means it wasn't fully ready to compete in a 24-hour race. Endurance racing is a team effort, if Mazda won only by luck, then all Le Mans winners also won only by luck.
They downtuned because of reliability, but after the race they looked at the engine and realized that they could have had the same power as the other cars and the engine would have lasted the whole race .. so we will never know how fast it really is, it wasnt luck its just smart to play it safe... others wanted to be fast , but on le mans speed isnt only thing u need
can't wait to see these guys enter Formula 1 in 2026
