Why not mention the Managers that made these outstanding decisions; when those decisions had to be made. I'm truly glad my team had Bochy in charge: 3 Championships in 5 years! And one more with Texas!! A humble Manager that understands his Team at its best.

My absolute favorite player of all time( lifelong Phillies fan here) I was lucky enough to watch the careers of Mike Schmidt, Ryan Howard, Curt Schilling, J Roll , Chase Utley ,Doc Halladay r.i.p. and many other all time greats, but Cliff Lee at his peak was like watching the greatest of all time. I’ve honestly never seen anything like it. He was/is my favorite baseball player of all time eventually I’ll tell my grandchildren when they’re born about him that’s how dominant he was.

I would add the very rare classic eephus or "blooper" pitch with the steep height and eephus like pitches which are basically any breaking ball thrown at unusually slow speeds. Also, a type of changeup known as a "palm" ball is quite difficult to master. Any baseball history buff remembers the towering homer Ted Williams hit off of the originator of the eephus pitch, Rip Sewell in the 1946 All Star Game. A even more famous eephus pitch disaster happened in the 1975 World Series when Tony Perez for the Reds clobbered a HR off Bill "Spaceman" Lee of the Red Sox who was waiting for the pitch. That being said, these odd pitches can be very effective against many hitters when thrown at the right time but requires a lot of skill.

Change is the easiest, just pick your method - circle change (make OK with thumb and index and hold ball with last three fingers), a palm or choke ball (put ball further into your hand and away from finger tips) or forkball (like a splitter but wider assuming your hand is big or supple enough). Throw all three as hard as you can.

forkball. almost no control, and the form and release point need to be perfect. but man, a well thrown forkball in the vicinity of the plate is almost unhittable. It's like a high-speed knuckler. also -- nobody throws a screwball anymore. It's either going into the batter, or away from the batter, and in any case the ball is not moving the way they're expecting. If you are a batter tuning in on the release of the pitch, you expect a curve or a slider... and then it breaks the other way, opposite of the slider.

Orel Hershiser, 1988 Playoffs. Game 1 NLCS, Hershiser goes 8.1 giving up 2 runs on 7 hits and gives a lead to Jay Howell, who blows the game by allowing a double to Gary Carter. Game 3 (on 3 days rest), Hershiser gives up 3 runs, 1 earned, in 7 innings, leaving with the lead, to watch Howell and the pen blow that game. The very next night, Hershiser comes in to the bottom of the 12th with the bases loaded and 2 outs and get's Kevin McReynolds to fly out to win the game. Finally for that series, Hershiser, in game 7, throws a 5 hit shutout. World Series, game 2 (again on 3 days rest), Hershiser Shuts out Oakland A's on 3 hits while going 3 for 3 with a double, a run scored, and an RBI. Then, in game 5, Hershiser throws his 3rd complete game of the playoffs, giving up 2 runs on 4 hits. (he didn't hit because it was an AL park). So, final tally: 5 starts, one relief appearance, 3 complete games, 2 shutouts and a save. 42 and 2/3 innings, 25 hits, 7 runs (5 earned) 13 walks, 32 strikeouts. NLCS MVP. World Series MVP. oh, and that was after the year when he'd won the Cy Young with 23 wins, 267 innings, 8 shutouts! I should probably include his september line: 6 starts, 5 complete games, 5 shutouts, 55 innings, 30 hits, 0 runs allowed. Did I say only 5 shutouts? well, without really anything on the line, he threw 10 shutout innings of a game that ended up going 16 innings with the team losing 2-1.
