Two things, arm position isn’t as huge a deal as people once thought. A lot of guys with looser arms have had lower positions at foot strike. Second, Strasburgs arm is way further along than you make it out to be. His foot isn’t actually planted and isnt beginning to block at all when you pause it.
No injuries? What is this only the second time hes thrown 200 innings in his career? Last time was 2014 lmao. Whoever would actually give this guy the kind of money he's asking with his injury history is insane. 2018? Injured. 2017? Injured 2016? Injured 2015? Injured.
@@baseballworldwide9439 2019 not injured. Did I mention '16, '17 or '18 at all? I didnt. I mentioned 2019 . He also hasnt had any 'reconstructive' surgery.
@@lobo28man yeah we can just negate the last decade, it certainly wont be of importance for a pitcher with shitty mechanics and who's 31 years old lmao. You make no sense fanboy clown
@@baseballworldwide9439 You have zero baseball IQ. His mechanics are actually extremely clean. What you are showing is called the arm spiral which is the healthiest way to move your arm. Someone like Trevor Bauer moves his arm pretty similar with zero injuries. The reason he is probably always Injured is due to workload and velocity. Before we had analytics and edgeatronic cameras like we do know we didn't understand how the body moves and how to limit injuries. This is why we have seen a spike in Tommy John surgeries as people start to throw harder. People like Trevor Bauer are starting to fix that hence why you are seeing guys throw easier on short rest like Gerrit Cole and why someone like Strasburg is not as injured as much.
As much I hate Baker and love the Cubbies, it was Prior's mechanics. I'm shocked they don't figure out these problems in fucking little league or at least the minors
Dylan Waldner you may want to get that separation, you gain more velocity, but at the risk of getting elbow and shoulder injuries, other words, u get more speed but u are more likely to get an injury
How come pitchers in prior (no pun intended) decades threw complete games throughout the season and none of this stuff happened? Look at Nolan Ryan. You know how he lasted so long? Great mechanics. Roger Clemens, Randy Johnson, Maddux, etc.
Certainly Strasburg might have some mechanical inefficiency leading to stress on his arm. But this is a TERRIBLE comparison. You used a low intent warm up, and cut the frame when his toe hit landing. The arm isnt going to accept force from the lower body until his foot is fully planted. If you skip forward a few frames to where his foot is fully planted, his arm might be up. This was also a warm up. Lower intent throws can look very different from in game reps.

Eerie similarities! But you really should do another video with a side by side comparison
Stasburg 5-0 2019 post season. Different motion than here because he doesnt throw from the windup anymore, but same time as here. No injuries....

Dusty Baker ruined prior not his mechanics, he threw 124 pitches per start that season
cymaddux31 that's definitely true, but you have to admit those mechanics would've caused those arm/shoulder problems regardless of usage
You want your upper body to lag to get that separation, your trippin bro
