Rare 1983 Toyota Hilux at Anglia Car Auctions ACA
A look at this rare early 80's Toyota Hilux seen here at Anglia Car Auctions during their June classic car sale. A double cab variant of which there are only two other known examples in the UK, it looked to be very solid. Would have loved this one myself but sadly out of budget. Sold for £15,768 inc. premium: angliacarauctions.co.uk/classic-auctions/2649-22-Jun-2024/5938~3-1983-toyota-hi-lux

Rare TVR 2500M seen at ACA during their April Classic Car sale. Described as having been taken off the road during the 80's due to 'electrical problems' - if the flashing hazards are anything to go by then it might still be suffering from these gremlins! Hi everyone, Join me as I visit Anglia Car Auctions (ACA) for their April classic car sale. I walk around some of the 250 lots on offer during their 2-day event. I always look forward to attending this one as they always have a really good variety and it's the classic car auction most local to me. I pick out some of the lots which I find interesting and may even be bidding on! Their next classi...

Walkaround of a Series 2 Austin Allegro 1300 SDL. Not a bad car at all despite their reputation. No worse than the ADO16 I had previously, just a more up to date version.

Austin.1800.in.australia❤❤❤❤
Beautiful 18/85. I had one same age and colour but navy interior. Very smooth. Ride and power steering which the other 1800s did not have. Sold it for £700 in 1978!!
We bought from Mathewsons .... 2cv.....sight unseen , video walk around 100 % accurate....warts n all , excelent easy buying experience Inc delivery, car more than met expectations. Aftershaves sent on extra documents without charge.... Will buy again from them
what's with the rear wiper. was that standard?
I had one of these as my first car in 1983. Same year and colour. I'd say yours has a lot less rust than mine had then. I kept it a year or 2 before the hydrolastic suspension collapsed on one side and I had to scrap it.
Is this your own car?
I love these and thanks for your post. I always wondered how people have fared buying from Mathewsons auctions. Another You Tuber, Matilda River Walden bought a 1300 Austin Vandan Plas and has shared her experience very positively. Enjoy
Lovely old classic car you have bought yourself there. Enjoy every mile in it. These cars were known for being very comfortable & roomy inside. I do like the nice wooden dashboard, real wood of course & may I ask what is gauge above the driver's vent on dashboard please? Is that an ammeter & does it work? Take care in that car now. When cars were cars back then & not computers on wheels like they seem to be nowadays!
Thank you. You're correct, that gauge was an ammeter although I'm not sure if it ever worked. Looking at older photos of the car, there used to be a cigarette lighter in place of it so probably something that's been changed around by previous owner's. Agree with you there, they're a completely different experience to newer cars but more enjoyable I think. Thanks for watching :-)
@@iDayno you can check to see if ammeter works by switching on the headlamps & you should get a negative reading on ammeter. When you start the engine you should get positive reading as generator charges the battery. If it doesn't work maybe gauge has gone faulty or not wired in at all, just for show as such.
Music to my ears!
When cars had style and identity, you could line cars up now take the badge off and they all look the same.
I had one in 1979!
That is very smart ❤
Wonderful!! Subbed your channel!!❤
What a lovely car, I bet it turns a few heads!
beautiful car, so so comfortable ( even today! ) was a special car in the 70's & now even MORE special, a beauty !!
They were good cars only real issue I ever encountered on them power steering rack leaks. Automatic version was better than the manual. The chain driven BW35 autobox was well matched to the engine.
Very nice 👍🏴
Owned a wolseley six great family car loads of room English leather great suspension
I passed my test in my parents wolseley six in 1975 happydays
great car my brother had one
Nice!
They are very comfortable to ride in also plenty of room inside a terrific car alround
Nice car and not many around today, enjoy 😊 Hope you got a good deal, as cars at many of the classic car auctions have been selling for well over retail, in particular Mathewsons .
Thank you and I have to agree with you there, stuff does seem to go way over the odds at Mathewsons.
Superb ,thanks for showing us this one.Had a few of these over the years ..enjoy.
Just a really nice car to own and use. Certainly very English. I remember them well. Happy motoring my friend.
My father had a similar car - 18/85 automatic in Wild Moss. Interior had "Ambla" upholstery and not leather. Great car.
A nice purchase ! - one to take care of. Enjoy..
Absolutely love the 18/85 and could never afford one,had several Austin/Morris 1800s and they all did mega miles without any major failure’s. The last one had done about 150,000 miles but the bodywork was suffering from the rust bug which was a thing with them. If they were made today I would order a Wolseley 18/85 S immediately even if I had to wait until it was built, fabulous vehicle probably the best car British Leyland ever built but not according to the motoring press but we all know how knowledgeable they were.
Blimey. I can’t remember the last time I saw one of these 👍
They're few and far between nowadays in New Zealand as well Nigel.
Very good cars I had an Austin 2200 in blue a number of years ago they are really spacious and nice to drive there is one like yours same colour as mine was for sale at Bradley James classics nr Basingstoke hants only done 34.000 miles and in mint condition not sure of the price yet and low ownership so they are around but not many hope you enjoy yours
Lovely car good purchase.
Blimey. I had one of these in 1985 , same colour. I drove it back from a holiday in Sussex listening to Live Aid on the radio. 😁
Amazing car bigger inside than out.
A beautiful car. I had an 18/85 MkII Automatic and I loved it. I bet the exhaust blow is the flexi - mine used to eat them!!
Very nice looking car. I learnt to drive in my Dads Wolseley Six and i always fancied owning one. I knew someone as a child who had a 72 (very late ) 18/85 in Wild Moss. Its a rare colour and a long time since i have seen the colour.
Nice car. Love the wooden dash and umbrella handbrake. Enjoy driving it for the Summer!
Is this a Sundym windscreen?
Love these cars. A mate of mine in Greenwich had one when we were all youngsters about 40 years ago. One of the first cars I drove and I’ve always loved them. Thanks for sharing.
Glad you like it and thank you for watching :)
Well done. I saw this car on their video and thought it was a very good example. Love these. I live in Tasmania Australia and have an Austin 3 L, very rare here. So many things inside your car are also on the 3 L. Same seats, door cards, wood cappings on doors but dash is different. Yours is nicer IMHO. Thanks for doing video. Have subscribed so I can follow progress on it although I suspect not much will need doing.
Would love to own a 3 litre, thank you for watching & subscribing :)
I had an 18/85S. Brown. I couldn't recline the seats properly. I had to 5hag my girlfriend with the front seats upright. A very civilised car. Spacious.
What was wrong with the bonnet ?
@@garryburton-bz2nc Hahaha!
Too much info mate!...Mind you...where there's a will there's a way!!😂
@@petersmyth6604 Better than 1970s velour seats. They used to soak up the spillage. Difficult to shift the stains.
I currently own a blue one..2005 gti180 and i can confirm that they are tonnes of fun...ive left my traction control on and they grip like fuck but they also feel abit boaty on the long sweeping bends..not to expensive to run either..£60 to fill the tank and ive done over 700 miles in mine(since jan this year) as i always make sure i have half a tank left before i need to fill up again...insurance is quite cheap i pay £700/yr or £58/pm and tax is £35 pm but i am over 35 as these cars ARE performance cars due to the bhp they run from factory which is 177bhp hence why its called the GTI180...anyway beautiful car..theyre getting rarer by the day
Do you still own this?
No, long gone. Not sure if it's still about.
My dad had one of those but had to sell it when I came along! Got a Herald estate instead 😅
I love 1970s car colours, much more fun than today's car colours.
Me too, thanks for watching :)
Exactly! Too many greys, silvers and Blacks etc today.
😍
It's not noisy anymore 😅
Stunning car! I owned 2 of these, both red, a series 1 and series 2. ADV 93Y and B314 TKV Sadly the 1st rusted away and became a donor car for the 2nd, and the 2nd was involved in an accident. Both scrapped. The most comfy cars I've driven.
Thank you :) This was the 3rd one I owned and the two before met a similar fate to yours. The first was used for a TV scene and crashed, and the second unfortunately caught fire and is now awaiting restoration. They are really comfortable aren't they!
@@iDayno I've always wanted to own another, or even just to have "one last drive". But there's so few of them left on the road now that I think it'll always be a dream and not a reality.
Wow that is gorgeous!
