I like the look of the first neighborhood and the old trams. How did you know to speak Russian to the old man, but Latvian to the old woman? How many NHL hats do you have? The kids at Tallinn wanted to be the video, but you cut them. Lol.
Thanks for the comment. I always start conversation in latvian, if they don’t understand then I switch to russian :) Haha, I had quite few during the years, but usually I wear one until it gets very dirty, then I get a new one. I didn’t see kids at first 😂😂 only when looking at video after.

@@theruudy Yeah, I really liked it, but I have never understood why so many from the Soviet Union wanted to go there, since I personally think that the beaches at Ventspils and Liepāja where nicer with nicer sand.

No one has mentioned it, but I wanted to make sure viewers know that all the red and white warning tape you see on the buildings in Rudy's winter videos are not because the buildings are in disrepair or something, but to warn pedestrians to be careful of falling ice from the rooftops as it thaws and slides off and crashes on to the pavement below.

22:07 I used to live near there, fond memories of the "Russian" Lido. In Kengarags Market at 22:24 there are some Chebureki on the red tray there, not sure if they will be hot, maybe warmed in the microwave. The best fresh Chebureki I have had are from one yellow kiosk in Rumbula near where the used car markets are.

Number 10 tram is legendary. It even has a song 🤣ruclips.net/video/dkSPKloBY8c/видео.html When I lived in Zieppniekalns about 8 years ago they had an even better kebab place in that location it was Georgian style, they had only a very small menu perhaps 4 items, but really delicious freshly baked Georgian bread for the kebabs and also hačapuri. Best I ever tried.
There is a "secret room" in Jelgava Palace, there is the ducal crypt which can be visited, in it are the remains of my ancestors from Biron and Kettler family.

For those curious how such a highly regarded restuarant such as Vincents no longer exists, sadly, the owner and celebrity head chef, Mārtiņš Rītiņš, passed away.
Yes, that’s correct!! Never get to visit Vincents, but it must have been one of a kind during its peak years.
I drive past the turn for Mucenieki everyday, but had no idea what was there until recently. I heard the area is good for mushrooming.
Many people have never heard of this place, that’s why it was interesting to see what it’s all about 😊 P.s. Not only mashrooms but also berries.
I've only watched this one video so far, and I'm hooked. I have lived in Latvia for 10 years it's great to see some of the lesser known areas getting some love.

Great video. There are a lot of options at that coffee machine. How did the coffee taste? I had to google Kurmene Manor to verify it is a tourist attraction. I was wondering if the owner was about to return and shoot you for trespassing.
