Used this for the first time a few weeks ago, what a complete waste of money and time the older station was far far better and far closer to great Victoria street where this is further from! I could understand it if the rest of the country had train stations but it doesn’t so I can not understand why they built this thing! They must be expecting millions of people or something because thus doesn’t make sense to me what a waste

Old Oak Common station will be so massive once it’s completed.

Just a few observations to make, I was listening to a podcast where they interviewed the former chairman of Network rail and HS2, Sir David Higgins. He commented that the major issues that have spiraled the costs of phase 1 has been the following. 1. Unnecessary over specification of infrastructure requirements, 2. Far too many tunnels even in the London section, 3. Political meddling by politicians to appease certain constituencies, and micro management from the department of transport, constantly moving the goal posts of the brief. Additionally, higher than above inflation rates on a yearly basis has not helped. As someone that comes from a construction background, point 2 and 3 are the main culprits of the fiasco. When you compare it to other countries where high speed rail links are common such as Spain, France and Italy, the specifications are far more modest in comparison but just as good without breaking the bank, I can vouch for it.

Could Green Hydrogen be the train locomotive fuel of the future...? (A few solar panels/sodium-iron batteries and rainwater are all that's needed.)

Nothing but a monstrous blot on the landscape & a complete & utter waste of billions of pounds. HS2 is an environmental disaster of epic proportions & Britain's biggest infrastructure mistake in half a century.

See how the soil is being taken away by conveyor, how is all that sand and aggregate for concrete being delivered?.

Taking ages doing this, I bet every worker is on at least £25 per hour for playing on there phone. Costing a bloody fortune on something 90% of the population will never use.

I understand that 1,500 construction workers are on this site.

These really are brilliant videos and I love the way that you always explain, with the use of a map, where we are and what we're looking at. Most other people who post HS2 videos merely show a video with loud music and you have no idea where the drone is, what you're seeing and even which direction you're travelling. Your videos are in a class of their own. Thanks for all your hard work in putting them together - I could watch them all day!🍻

i did ask a chap there ,how many people are this complex work ,he said about half of them ,and u know, he is right ,nothing seems to change on the work site

4:07 the 201 is often replaced with a 22000 class or 2 3000 cafs in a 6 car set

4:07 note the class 201 is capable of providing power to the set but it doesn't do so as it buts to much stress on the 201 when under power because the engine doesn't have the power need and needs to run at high rpm

I got a spin on this railway back in the early 2000s. Around that time or perhaps around 2010 or that a part wore out/broke on one of their steam engines. They spent a good while looking for that part and to see if machinists could make it. To no avail obviously, and they shut their doors for the final time. A shame really because it was a cool experience that you dont see much of nowadays

International services are available at numerous stations in England, Scotland and Wales. These are all countries, and travel between the countries is international.

The money would have been better spent on putting stations at the two airports. But why would they do something sensible like that? Look at our new shiny thing!!

Any infrastructure development is to be welcomed but the fact this station/interchange is not in the city centre and doesnt connect with the Glider or most Metro buses services is an epic planning fail

Not a piece of modern art incorporated in the design of this station , just an empty building with no imagination .

Awesome!! So so good to see Grand Central up and running. Still some construction to do in the general area to optimise the infrastructure. But the future's looking very bright indeed.

This station looks absolutely massive and not overly central. Too much walking for the less able, hopefully never have to use it!

Only ten years late for me when I last visited from Australia and took the Enterprise from Connolly to the then-Belfast Central Station (Lanyon Place) exposed to the elements while waiting there for the train to Derry~Londonderry.

Excellent video, thank you. My partner and I live a life between Dublin and Cambridge and commuting between two homes requires stamina. This station is a fantastic development for all the people in the UK and Ireland who will use it. I just love to see progress we need more inspiration like this. Well done Belfast. Nice job. It's a nice station, but it's odd to have so much empty white space, and seemingly too few seats (people can be seen standing waiting for both buses and trains). They need to fill some of that space with more seating and perhaps some plant life.

Big white elephant, most buses dont connect and some train lines are cut !!

Whereabouts did you find the old coaches? I'm not sure where you got the info about the train running up to 2013 but I've been in Tralee regularly since 2010 and live here now, and I've never seen it operational. It's a shame it's closed down... Also, I don't believe the station at the aqua dome was that terminus. I'm struggling to determine the exact route but I believe it linked to the main line somewhere.

Hello, thank you for sharing Belfast Grand Central Station. What a surprise?? It looks fabulous.

Such a monumental waste of money. Too far from the centre of town. No cover for people embarking or disembarking from the station. I'll just get off at lanyon and walk. No area for cars or taxis to drop peolle off. This station will be redundant to a lot of commuters who will just walk from lanyon as it will be quicker to get to the centee of Belfast. Most drivers dont use the enterprise because its too slow and more expensive than just filling the car up which is quicker.

Any room for bicycles on the enterprise train?

The next stage has be integrated connnections to both City and International airports, more stations are also required, one at Cathedral Quarter and one more in North Belfast would be a great improvement
