  • Today I visit the Tralee and Dingle Light Railway in Co. Kerry, Ireland.
I walk the entire length of the remaining preserved railway.

Someone should put a motorized rail kart on this track and rent it out. It would only take a few days to clear out the overgrowth with some motorized garden tools.

My daughter and I were in Tralee in 2015. Wish the train would have been operating...

Would give a greatly needed boost to Tralee tourism if this rail to Blennerville along with the opening of the Aquadome. Fond family memories of visiting both. Thank you for this video.

I agree, it seems a no brainer to include it on the coach tours, coach drops off in Tralee and picks up in Blennerville after the tour has seen the windmill.

My family is from this area and so I’ve been reading a lot about the T&D railway, it’s great stuff. So thanks for doing this and giving me a chance to see it!

Nice video of this abandoned narrow-gauge line. I love seeing these abandoned lines and how nature takes them over, especially all of the flowers after 27:06.

I really think it's a great shame they closed this railway down. I hope that they will re-open it, possibly even extending it.

I thought it ceased operating because the loco's boiler certificate ran out, and the cost of the work needed was prohibitive. But I can't remember where I heard that!

You deserve a pint of the black stuff for your endeavours, Nick! Interesting that the line is still in relatively good condition; wonder what the estimate would be to fully repair the line. No need to apologise for the breathing - I know the feeling, as ‘m unable to breathe through my nose

Great video. Two tips for you to improve though. 1. Point your camera up a bit more as often it is pointing downwards at the rails. 2. Add more cuts into the video to condense it to make it slightly more interesting.
Still though, absolutely brilliant for a small RUclipsr like you. 😀

I hope this railway can run again someday. We can’t let this good narrow gauge line go to waste again.

Unfortunately, the heritage railways in Ireland are in a very poor state. There are only a few ones operating, all being narrowgauge. In the 2000s, at least three of them had closed down, and this is despite half of the country's railway network being cut in between 1960s and 1980s.

  • @andrewcawood1364

Great to watch. Cannot see this ever reopening with the track in such a poor state.

    • @joshuaW5621
      @joshuaW5621 Год назад

It would suck if they do leave it closed forever. I don’t think it would cost too much to clear the trackbed and restore the line. I really wish for it to reopen someday.

Sadly, the locomotive is in a WAY worse state, and there's nobody there with the will and / or skills to look after it.
