Nice bobcat how do you realise them
Damn, you know your Bobcats - I thought he lunged at you you, but you recovered saying you fat-fingered the camera! Whoa Nellie!
I wax my boards. Az cats sure little I live in Montana get um 54 inches
Wow…I knew you have some monsters up there…that’s huge
Well you aren’t scoring any points by poking at him.
What did you get for him at the fur sale ?
I didn’t sell him..I froze whole and sent him to a taxidermist. I’m going to get a full mount made of him. Really cool animal. I’m excited
My kids love coming to see if we caught anything. Good seeing you at the fur sale
Mine too…ok so I know what was your name?
@@trappingspots Brian. I was wearing the bright blue hoodie and jeans
@Brian-rr3nj I don’t even remember what I was wearing at the sale🤣. Black hat and glasses right?
@@trappingspots yes. I didn't know we shared the same profession

Wow...super white n fluffy belly...this is top quality one...youll get $$$..im a furrier...you know your shit sir!😂❤
Thank you very much…I think this one will be a good money maker..
Good info. Thanks for posting.
It's not fair... Just cause he's DIFFERENT.
One of these creatures is BEAUTIFUL, one of these creatures is what is known as a "PUSSY". U decide!!.
Cope and cry some more!!!
Why can't people just leave animals alone? He doesn't need "dispatched" , I own cattle and chickens and deal with nuisance animals all the time, but I consider it part of the business. I don't "dispatch" them for doing what nature tells them to do. I take precautions, but I never harm anything. The wild pigs I understand. But not a beautiful creature like that.
I harvest the animals I want to take and let go the ones that are young and some females…I don’t kill to kill. Most of the animal is used. Animals are a green renewable resource…I won’t even get into the wildlife management part…the ones I take are not nuisance animals..doesn’t matter: pigs, coyotes, skunks, bobcats…. The worst things that we can do to animals is failed to manage them in this day and age. But the fact that you say you don’t harm anything is baloney. Everything we do from drinking coffee, going to work driving our car affects wildlife in someway down the line. And if you truly raise cows and chickens the bobcat is no different. A cow is a beautiful creature along with all the others and you’ll slaughter it and eat it. You’re doing the same thing I am.
@@trappingspotsI didn't know the animal was actually being used , so forgive me. I was under the impression it was for trophy only, which is a different ballgame entirely. Yes I do live on a farm and also lease other properties for rotation purposes. Used to deal with pigs and hogs but they weren't worth the hassle and stink, so we got rid of them. I just have a love of animals, almost to a fault. But I agree with your explanation, which you didn't owe me. Take care
@@chadmiller2224 no problem…I apologize if I came off harsh. I deal with a lot of anti- type of people who really don’t have the animals best interest at heart…the original video was to help other trappers be able to humanely dispatch a bobcat..but all good
@Dory_Juniper You have no idea what you’re talking about…close minded and ignorant of animals and wildlife. I make a whopping $0 off RUclips. I have this channel to help other trappers. Sounds like you have quite an ego problem.
those are some great lookin cats, what trap are you using?
I use Camtrip Cages. Mercer Lawing out of California makes them. cagingbobcats.com
What do you do with them? What do you mean by harvesting?
So where’s the video of you dispatching feral housecats? You know, the ones who are ACTUALLY invasive nuisance animals?
You’re correct they are invasive and a nuisance…but can’t show dispatching on here…
So what happened to the bobcat?
I harvested it…it’s going to be full mounted..
@@trappingspots poor thing, but if you’re actually gonna use it and not simply kill it for no reason, then I guess that’s okay.
What kind of bait?
Because I’m in Arizona I don’t use bait. I used to use jackrabbit but it goes bad to quickly. I mainly use gland and call lure. Urine, scat and visual attractors
It’s how you approach people , you did an excellent job
Thank you. Even though I was really angry I understand that you get better results by being nice. Doesn’t always work out but a good way to start.
Confronting? I thought you were going to play Patty Cakes with him.
That was confronting. I was videoing just in case I needed evidence for the Game And Fish officer. The guy was not confrontational, but I had my 9 mm on my hip anyways for safety not every confrontation will be physical and yelling etc. I was waiting for him to deny everything and he didn’t, he admitted guilt and gave me my trap back.
I'm glad it went well.
Thanks. Me too
David sent me over, I think I used to see your post on Facebook but I no longer have that, didn't realize you had a channel. I subscribed. Glad you got this figured out
Thanks for subscribing. I appreciate it. I’m still on FB. Post mostly on there.
Glad you got it back! Thank you for sharing my friend!
Thx Mark
By and large I find Mexicans to be honest n hard working 99% of the time...
I try and be as stealthy as possible. Glad u it back.
Start using earth anchors that way they can't just pick it up and walk away with them.
I would but I run like 40+ cages for only 11 days so that’s a lot of extra work. If I had less cages and was there longer than definitely, I would do that.
Glad you got it back.
Good deal you got the cage back. I have had a ridiculous amount of traps stolen over the years. Only two cage traps but 30 something mb750's / conibears back when legal to set.
How did it turn out?
I got the trap back a little dented up but I can fix it for some reason my camera wasn’t working so I just grabbed a steel shot so I think I’ll just post the picture when I post it on FB
@trappingspots Good deal man it probably got bent up a little bit by the bucket, but we know how much power is behind the hydraulic bucket. You can't do much, but at least the dude was a good dude
@@AnthonyRubeoOutdoors I agree
Thanks again Jim. I caught my third cat ever just yesterday. Up to 3 cats and 2 fox this season. Good informative video.
Sweet. Very nice. Keep on them. Congrats
Anchor your traps like you would a leg hold. Most people don't carry cable cutters or bolt cutters. That would help with theft.
Yup exactly
Thanks for the information Jim. This is *super* helpful as this is my first year trapping. I've only caught two fox and two bobcats. One of the cats was in my backyard so I don't really count it as a "true catch".
Thanks Bryan. Glad to help and that ain’t too bad for a beginner so keep at it and keep making your sets and lines better and better and you’ll be successful.
@@trappingspots yeah, I know there a learning curve. I got miffed a few days ago when I found someone had thrown a rock in my cage setting it off. At least they didn't destroy or steal it
@@Brian-rr3nj yeah, that’s definitely better than being stolen.
What kind of stretchers do you use?
A guy named Otis Latham out of Colorado makes cat stretchers. Doesn’t have a website. He’s on Facebook under O.D. Latham. Great guy.
I live in a residential neighborhood in Florida, so I occasionally see bobcats on my Ring cameras. I think they are cute, and I love to see them when they do appear, but I know they are nuisance animals in other places and need to be dispatched.
And I appreciate your point of view because I agree with it. I definitely do not want to kill them all I love seeing them in the wild and not just catching and dispatching. Some populations need to be controlled to overpopulation which causes disease, distemper, etc.. and I also like just to take pictures and release as well. It’s a part of being in the outdoors.
Great looking furs from bobcats.
Thank you.
Beautiful country out there
I think so too
What kind of live traps are those? What dimensions?
They are 8”, 9”, 10”, 11” wide. 18-21” tall and 36” deep
What kind of live traps do you ise
Camtrip Cages..by Mercer Lawing
That must have been exciting
bullshit video. no dispatch here. diz.
That was crazy!! Thank you for sharing my friend!
Absolutely.
Very cool!
A few years ago this happened to me. I had a trap out (with no bait) to try and catch ground hogs. I looked out the window in the pouring rain and saw something in the trap. I waited till the next day and saw a skunk. I threw an old blanket over it and put plastic bags around and loaded it on a garden cart. I wheeled it 500 feet the back of the yard bouncing along. I unwrapped one end and opened the trap and a skunk ran out. The trap was heavy since the bottom was covered in mud so I wheeled it back to the house to hose the mud off. I got the hose and pulled the blanket off and a second skunk was staring at me! I put the cover back on and wheeled him to the back. Two skunks in the same cage and both of them didn't spray me!
That’s a pretty neat story…I’ve caught doubles on skunks once and racoons twice…. Cool experience
Wow 🎉🎉🎉
Thank you for the information. I was curious as to how I was going to solve that problem whenever it would arise.
Do you cover all of your cages with plastic? I laughed when you said about making sure the door isn't on backwards. Had a miss 4-5 days into this season due to that. Door dropped and got stuck on the cross bar with plenty of room to let that critter out.
Ya we all have done the backwards door thing…😂 You live and learn. Since Arizona’s weather is mild, I only put plastic over if there’s rain or snow in the forecast.
@@trappingspots Thanks. I had been covering every trap.
Good job
Thank you
Great way to check the traps! Good luck with everything my friend!
Thanks buddy
This is my first year trapping in Arizona. How long do you generally leave a lineout? I started putting mine out in desert areas in Arizona November 10th. I only have 8 traps and have rotated them to different areas after about 5 or 6 days. I also had one other question. I oftentimes see you setting traps out fairly close to well-traveled roads. How close are those roads to town? Or are they out in the sticks?
I leave my line out for about 11 days. That gives me a couple days to get all of them out and then a couple days to pick them up wash them and get ready for the next line. They say cats may not come back through an area for at least 14 days. I run about 30-40 cages typically. I have developed these lines over many years…yes some traps are off highways and traveled roads and some way out… cats will hang out near urban areas as much as in the wilderness… just make sure you follow all regulations and you’ll be good
@@trappingspots Thank you for the info and encouragement. I was getting pretty discouraged. I'm only running 8 camtrip cages as that's all I could afford for now. I just set out a cage fairly close to the 74 between Morristown and Lake Pleasant where I found a toilet. Hopefully it'll pan out for me. Do you ever build your own cages? We met at the trapper class last May. I was the one who asked you how many cats you catch during a season if you remember. God bless
@@Brian-rr3nj oh ya…. Don’t get discouraged. I think you’re in a good area I used to trap a small section of private land on the 74 and caught several cats in there. I don’t build my cages I just rather buy them from Mercer if I need them.
@@trappingspots those cages are awesome. I'm a police officer and just got off shift. I got home and was getting out of uniform and my wife and son came and told me there was a Bobcat next to out chicken coop. I went out to find it on the roof of my run. He jumped on my roof and of into the darkness. We went back inside. About 5 minutes later it was back trying to reclaim the chicken it killed. It ran to my neighbor's front driveway and sat there. I set one of my cages and threw that dead chicken in there along with a Squeaker box. Went back inside and 5 minutes later.....bingo
@@Brian-rr3nj Holy cow that’s fast….sounds like he wasn’t too scared of humans…and really wanted those chickens….cats are easy to catch but finding them sometimes it’s kind of hard. Nice work.
