Hi 👋 great breakdown 😊🩵
so for your savings account like the new car, do you actually transfer money from your checking over to your HYSA?
I do! I know I'm not using that money at the moment, so I want it to get a bit of interest until I get ready to use it.
@@WellBalancedWallet makes sense! thank you!
Welcome back! Great video.
Thanks!
Yay! Welcome back. 🎉
Thank you!! 😊
I'm still looking for an example of it linked.
Sorry, it's been a while. Which example would you like to see?
I love ❤️ the book reviews if you can do more of these videos thats would be great… I’m currently reading two books. Thanks
I will! I took a break, but I'm back!
YNAB can be better utilized to get a month ahead. This makes it significantly more complicated than it actually is utilizing YNAB. Watch the YNAB videos on getting a month ahead.😉
Thank you so much.... ❤❤❤❤
Is your affiliate link still available?
It is! wellbalancedwallet.com/ynab/
This was a really good tutorial! Thank you! Clear and Concise!
Thank you!
Great video, love the flow of your videos. May budget is going alright so far, i'm working on being more focused on specific savings goals because I have the habit of making too many goals which makes them hard to reach. Happy Friday!
I hope your savings goals are going well!
Happy Wednesday & thanks for sharing 👑
I liked this video. I love YNAB.
Me too!
Hello. Thank you for your video and explanations. It's very clear. That said, could you explain why a credit card car be in red in the payment collumn ? I tried to understand YNAB support database, but it's not easy. It seems that it's when you've spent more than you had available in cash and credit... so, for instance, my numbers are at zero (grey ich) in the payment collumn the current month, but if I check the coming month, it's in red, with a negative amount. I don't get it. Thank you.
Great question! Did you recently make a payment on your credit card? It could be that you made a payment for more than the amount of money that you had in your credit card category.
Happy Saturday😊 I'm back again for a dose of your FABULOUS channel ❤📚❤
Thanks!
Do I also need to budget for the spending categories where I used my credit card to make purchases? If I budget this way, will it result in duplicate entries for budgeting? (I will also budget for the credit card payment) In your example, $30 was spent at McDonald's, and the Chase card activity increased by $30, but do I need to assign money to the Fun Money category? If I assign $30 to Fun Money, and later assign another $30 to the Chase card payment, wouldn't that be duplicate? If I don't assign $30 to Fun Money, is it okay for that category to show yellow or red? In case I need to budget for the spending category, and the same category contains both credit card spending and cash spending, how can I separate them out? I'm really confused about this part, but I use my credit card for shopping all the time, so I definitely need to figure this out clearly. Thank you
Great question! You don't need to assign money to the credit card category. YNAB does that for you when you input the transaction in the credit card account. So if you spend $30 that you have budgeted in your fun money category from your credit card account, YNAB automatically moves the $30 from fun money to the credit card category.
Great video!
New subbie as of today
I loved Banyon Moon!
I enjoyed it!
Definitely want a video on the spending categories!!
Ok!
Loving your budget breakdown 👍❤😊
Thanks for watching!
Hi Kamika! Great video. I’m an avid YNAB-er too! A tip for the transactions that haven’t cleared yet is to manually enter them in YNAB. Then you can still count them towards March and/or get an accurate view of how much left in the category you’re working with. Once it clears the transactions will match up in the register so it won’t double count!
Thanks for sharing! I enter the transactions manually sometimes, but it usually doesn't bother me since I'm aware that they are pending.
I paid off two rentals today. Best transfer Tuesday so far.
That's awesome!
I am missing your regular videos.
I'm back! Check out the channel for the most recent videos.
Great video! I like to watch different ways to budget and plan.😊💖🌸🌺
Me too! I always learn something new.
My once per year fund came in clutch this year, so many expenses around this month and it was nice to have all the money I needed without any impact to my budget. Sinking funds are so smart!!!
That is awesome! I love the once per year category for this reason. I never keep track of them since they are only paid one time per year, but I'm always prepared.
'promo sm' 😜
Thanks for watching!
New subbie, here watching and supporting🎉❤
Welcome! Thanks for watching!
I see you have a ‘once per year’ category - can you share how that is set up? Is it a ‘eventually’ savings fund or a ‘pay x per month’ target? I do this by transferring £200 pm to my wife and she has a dedicated account for those, so looking at alternatives
Good question! This category is only for things that we pay for once per year like YNAB, car registrations, Amazon Prime, etc. I tend to forget about those bills since they only come out one time a year. My solution is to keep $500 in this category. When the payment comes out, I don’t have to worry about not having the money for it. Then the next month I work on replenishing the money. None of my once per year bills equal more than $500 at once time, so this works out perfectly.
Hi 👋 great video, new subscriber 😊
Welcome! Thanks for watching!
I just finished reading The Housemaid’s Secret by Frieda McFadden. When you were talking about The Girl’s Weekend and said “This book is so messy.” I paused, added it to my Want To Read list and skipped to the next chapter of the video so I didn’t hear any spoilers. 😂 I love mess! Now let me continue listening to this video. By the way I recommend Housemaid by Frieda McFadden. The sequel which I just finished sucks but the first book was good.
I tried to be spoiler free for all of the books so no worries there. 😂 I have The Housemaid’s Secret on my shelf. I’m going to move it up on my reading list.
Hey I am a new subbie and I enjoyed this video!!😊💖🌸🌺
Thanks for watching!

@@WellBalancedWallet I sure will!! thank you so much!! 😊
Girl, thank you for sharing that extension on YNAB. I've been wondering how people have different colors on theirs. Thought I have been missing out.
Lol is great! It adds a ton of additional features. It’s not created by YNAB, so you may run into an issue or two around updates but they tend to be fixed pretty quickly. You can always switch it on and off as well.
I like spending plan.
I like that one too!
New subscriber! March is going well. Going into the month with two cc paid off and two to go, one of which will be paid hopefully this month. Great job with your budget!
Whoo hooo! Congrats on getting two cards paid off. That’s awesome!
Hi Kamika! I just found your channel. Enjoying it so far! I have to catch up on your journey. Im paying off the last of my credit cards and will be tackling my student loans soon. I use to use YNAB years ago but just could not get it. I may try again to see if it will click this time. I am interested in taking spanish as well, ive been thinking about where i can take a course. Would love to hear about your spanish classes. Thanks for sharing!
Hi Dee! There is definitely a learning curve with YNAB. If you’re interested in trying again, feel free to dm me with your questions. Also, I have a video about my Spanish resources coming soon. Thanks for watching!
Thank you for this, very helpful! I have a question though, and that's what I have been struggling the most with handling credit cards in YNAB. Hope this makes sense: I have my planning of how much I can spend monthly with my credit card, considering my revenues. The thing is, I just get paid at the end of every month, so when I get paid I use the money to pay my current statement. And then I have "no money" until my salary date again, but that's not a problem because I have my budget so I know how much I can spend on my credit card. But the fact that I receive the money only after I make my purchases does not allow me to assign money to my categories, so the whole month looks like I am in debt and everything is red. Do you have any suggestions on how I could handle this? Thank you again :)
Hi Rebecca! Congratulations on paying off your card every month. It sounds like you’re a month behind instead of a month ahead. YNAB wants you to use your credit card like a debit card and only spend money that you currently have in your possession. My suggestion is to get your bank account current so that you have the funds to spend from your credit card. You can do this by saving as much money as possible until you’re able to actually budget your money then spend instead of spending it before you get it.
I’m reading “Fourth Wing” right now. I just finished “The Women.”
Im going to check out “The Women.” Fantasy isn’t really my thing, but I heard “Fourth Wing” is awesome!
🤑I know this video was for last year, but I find it helpful to see how other people structure their budgets and organize their cash flow. Thank you for sharing your budget categories!
Thanks for watching!
If I assign to expenses category and credit payment at the same time, will it create duplicate entries? How should I assign if I use a credit card for spending?
If you use your credit card as a debit card, enter the transactions into the proper categories. YNAB will move the money to the credit card payment category automatically.
@@WellBalancedWallet Thank you. What I mean is, if I spent $100 on food using a credit card, do I need to enter $100 in the food column when assigning budgets, and then another $100 in the credit card payment column? This seems like it would create duplicate entries? Just because i would like to reserve money to settle the credit card $100, and probably i also need to budget the expenses.
@waschosen- No, you just enter it once in the food category using the credit card account in your budget. YNAB takes care of the rest. When you enter the transaction, you can go back to the budget page and notice that the money is available in the credit card payment category. YNAB does that automatically. When you get ready to pay your bill, use the credit card payment category to see the amount to pay.
In fact, installment payment is not possible. Firstly, outstanding balances will accrue interest, causing the total amount to keep changing. Also, unless you decide to permanently stop using this credit card, it is unlikely to use it continuously while repaying in installments.
You are correct. The goal with YNAB is to use your credit card like you would a debit card. Sometimes things happen though and people may not have a choice. Hopefully, they are only paying the minimum balance for a short period of time, and can stop using the card while they work on paying down the balance.
Great job with your budget! I love YNAB also. You just gained a new subscriber.
Thank you!
My monthly student loan payment under SAVE plan is $2100 per month! I'm crying rn
Omg, that is terrible!
Currently reading like 10 books concurrently. Completely unhinged. Anyway “Black Sheep” by Rachel Harrison was a great read this year!
Absolutely unhinged! I’m going to check out Black Sheep now.
I'm reading How Not to Age, Game of Thrones and Listening to The Courage to Be Disliked. I usually read more, but have only been able to finish one book so far.
I’m going to check out how not to age. And it’s ok to read slow sometimes! I’m a mood reader so sometimes I just can’t find a book that keeps me entertained. Other times I’m reading like my life depends on it. 😂
@@WellBalancedWallet same! I'm definitely a mood reader too.
Great video ❤. I enjoy your budgeting videos looking forward to following your reading challenge. I just finished All The Sinners Bleed by SA Cosby and Happiness Falls by Angie Kim. Currently reading A Love Song for Ricki Wilde by Tia Williams.
A Love Song for Ricki Wilde is on my list! I’m going to check out the other ones too. Thanks!
What are you currently reading?
Buen trabajo continúa así ❤ We’re going to Puerto Rico and Disney World on our way back. Great job on budget 🤗
Gracias! That sounds like an amazing trip. I hope you all have a great time!
