FreakinEnduro / ben333river
США
Добавлен 10 июн 2010
In 2011 I started what is now Freakinenduro. The channel was originally ben333river and was just for my friends. Not long ago I made it public for everyone who has an enduro motorcycle or dual sport motorcycle. It is my channel for dirt bike riding, enduro racing, dual sport and harescramble racing. It also includes dirt bike maintenance, street bike maintenance, product reviews, working on dirt bikes and dual sport motorcycles. My current bike is a KTM350 (I think it is the best dual sport motorcycle and best enduro motorycycle) and a 250EXC (2 stroke). I am on my XR400 in some of the older videos. Some of the best dual sports are in PA, NY and NJ and can be found here. If you are looking for a good dual sport or enduro or are new to enduro or dual sport just reach out to me, I would be glad to help and answer questions.

Kemp Chipper Shredder Operational / In Action
My 1973 Kemp Chipper Shredder. I don't see many videos of these things, so I thought I would share. Seems to be a lot of them for sale.
This was a barn find, was in great shape when I got it. It's looking worn and has bits of rust on it now, but it has been a great machine. At the time of this video I had owned it about 6 months.

Nissan VIAS Replacement DYI video - 2016 Nissan Frontier

Just a quick video of how to replace you Nissan VIAS power valve. This is on a 2016 Nissan Frontier, probably similar on other models and years. Making the video was an afterthought so it's kind of crappy, but I figured it might help just the same. KTM 350 Flame Out Fix How I Did It DIY
Просмотров 19 тыс.3 года назад
This is my KTM 350 flame out fix. This is on a 2013 KTM 350 XCF-W. It took a while and a lot of trial and error but I did completely eliminate my flameout and my bike has more power and is more responsive. Also, the bike does not seem to run any hotter or cooler than it did before I did anything to it. Before I made any changes I ran through a 1 mile tight, technical section 2 twice and noted t...
KTM 350 Throttle Position Sensor TPS Adjustment with TPS Tool for Less Flameout
Просмотров 7 тыс.3 года назад
A lot of people, myself included, are afraid to make this adjustment. But with the right tools I found it to be very easy. The TPS tool from TPSTool.com made it very easy. Make sure you write down your initial setting that came from the factory in case you have to revert back to it for some reason. My KTM 350, like many, was flaming out a lot. This TPS adjustment reduced my flame out by 60%. I ...

Look how far back the spectators have to stand! Boring only in America.
Did you have time drain the oil before you took the screw out to check top dead center plz
@@gareth5494 yes. Oil was drained
Thank you for posting ! Is the tps setting the same for 2015 ktm 450sx? Same issue. Made me so mad i went bought a yamaha.
@@conorprovan9435 ideal TPS setting is different for each individual bike. Even if bike is same model and same year it could be different. I would say note your stock TPS setting so you can go back to it if needed, then search some forums and try some strings you find from others who have the same make a model. It's trial an error and noting you factory starting point is crucial, you may need to revert to it if other settings you try make things worse.
So fucking helpful, thanks man, you made my life better
Oh, great idea! Thanks!
thank you very much, its was so easy now to find the top end. i have a hole in my crank that was not the top end.
Glad it helped. I had a similar problem
You put your lock washer on in wrong order. It will damage your shift lever installing it that way. Large washer needs to contact shift lever. Good luck.
I installed based on instructions and engine schematic,,, I think,, in any case it has been on there since this video was made without trouble. I do appreciate your input and will double check the install method when I do another replacement, I may have put wrong, that is possible, but so far so good. Thanks again, I really do appreciate the help
Thank you very much for the video! For future reference, a little squirt of Windex on the boot makes it slide on and off much easier. :)
They should make Cams as well for the Katos that don’t have pressed on lobes , WTF .. not single billet like the rest of the world , , amazing cost cutting on a already overpriced bike.
I am always amazed at how much all these bikes cots, KTM and other brands, they all seem over priced
I had a 701 from new in 2018 and I can honestly say the stock cam chain tensioner is the worst in the whole history of motorcycle cam chain tensioners. Within 300 miles from new the bike on nearly all hot starts would rattle its nuts off for up to 20 seconds whilst the tensioner pumped up, cold starts were better but still noisy and I've been led to believe until the tensioner has fully working oil pressure the head is being starved of oil. A Dirt Tricks tensioner sorted that problem out but why can't KTM do it from the factory just the same as the ever failing clutch slave cylinder from the factory. Now the cam debacle with the 790/890's, guaranteed i will never recommend or by another KTM.
What size Knarly do you reccomend for the rear?
I like to get the narrowest one I can find for this tire, which is a 120. Can be hard to find them in a 120 sometimes. I have a 140 mounted now, it rubs a bit but is fine
Flame out has alot to do with the de comp lever on the exhaust cam also. Adjust the spring and it will fix it
I'm not sure the ktm350 has that component
@@ben333river 2012 exc f does
@@Rayzer1989 good to know.
Man all that dust really forces the later drivers to slow down. Must be nice to go first
Yeah, some came in with lights on. The race in last weekend in June this year. Great event! I love it!
Hi I have ktm sxf 250cc 2012 kick start only can I plug pigtail in and use multimeter just same way u have my bike only starts for 10seconds then dies can u help me plz
Hey, I don't know what settings to try with your bike, try looking in some forums. As far as using a multimeter, it may not work well. The voltages are so small a multimeter will not measure them accurately. The slightest movement of the test leads will change the voltage readout and voltage has to be exact in order for it to work properly.
2021 exc-f never really had flame out problems. I did switch to 13 tooth. Makes it a lot nicer for single track. I set my idle at 2200 rpm with a tusk tach. Running a get ecm and a graves slip on. This bike ran real lean stock. The throttle was very twitchy a slow crawl. Very annoying actually. With all the mods I’m a lot happier now. Has good grunt.
Thanks for that input. I love the 350 engine, great balance of power and size
Crankcase breather, enlargement, flow to twin breather tiny breather on cct side
?
you are lucky it didnt jump a tooth and blow your engine...
Thank you so much!! very frustrating trying to find this information. Your video had me back and going in 5 minutes. Thank you again. Very clear and cleared up all my confusion.
glad it helped
I’m in PA and ride FRO, just got a Knarly to try. Which direction do you recommend to put it on ?
I ride FRO as well. Mount it intermediate, the other option is soft which is for soft terrain. I had made some videos where I timed myself riding the same section 3 times with different tires, having the right tire made a big difference in my time. I lost the video files some how. I don't really have time to make videos now, but when I do I will recreate the test and post it. I was surprised by how much tire selection effects time, especially if your not a pro or AA rider.
@@benf4219 Cool. Thanks man. 🇺🇸👍
Dude, thanks so much for sharing this information. Best video by far. Exactly the info i needed. Cheers from the UK.
Glad it helped!
Just the help I needed! Thank you!
Thanks for the feedback! Glad I could help
Wouldn’t it make more sense to see what the base setting is without idle adjustment and then set idle? Everyone’s numbers will be different since everyone’s idle screw is in a different position. Thoughts?
Mine started at .457 and I set it to .64. From the reading I did it seems like .64 is where most riders have the best luck, it doesn't seem to be based on where you started. I tried .64 and it worked for me so I didn't do any more experimenting.
The missing details explained in simple english. I could not figure out this cam tensioner. Very helpful!
Thanks!
I've done other top ends, this info was extremely helpful. And I would not of finished this without the cam chain tensioner video. I have a 2015 350 sxf.
Thanks for the feedback!
But you have no spark arrestor, and that can cause a forest fire. My buddies and I were on a ride years ago and one of our bikes cause a fire, but our last guy quickly put it out. Good video though
is it possible to reapir the ktm's failed tensioner or I have to buy a new one?
buy a new one
Have to buy a new one. I wold buy an oem, but some folks buy the aftermarket manual tensioner though I have never tried one of those
i followed the instruction, the sounds of the tming chain goes away after 3secs but before i opened it up to adjust the valves it was never doing that sound on start up? does it requires a few hours of riding for the tensioner to fill up with oil to keep tension while the engine is not running? thanks
I am not sure about that. Mine does make any different sound. I don't think a fee hour of riding will fix though. There must be something going on in there
My 501 is the same deal. The new end cap and tuner helps. I usually notice the flame outs when I blip and chop the throttle . I haven’t raised the idle yet. I don’t want to loose top speed and figure and have enough power if have to slip the clutch I can
Which of those two lines do you slide the bolt into? The one on the left or the right?
It's a slot. I think your referring to the edges of the slot and they look like lines. If that's the case then it would go between the lines
I have a 2022 ktm 350sxf doing the same thing.
I have a 2017 now also, it doesn't flame out. I've heard the newer ones don't have this trouble, but don't know for sure. My 2017 has had a lot of engine work done to it, I bought it used.
What year is your 350?
Great idea. Thanks.
You are welcome! Just corrected the bend in them again not long ago, still using this method.
Opening the clutch and exhaust with a bike that dirty 😂
It'll blow out. Lol. Still runs great! No issues at all.
You fell before the hill!!!
I still got flameout with a $1600 procircuit pipe don’t waste your money
I almost went that route, glad a didn't
Thank you man for sharing
Glad I could help
Excellent!
Thank you!
best video on the internet on how to do this
Thanks!
Was your bike at top dead centre to do this? Or I have a 2016 250 xcf was wondering if I have to be at top dead centre to remove/change the tensioner
I don't recall, sorry. Good question.
YUP.. but for USD fork need to make it to two pieces
What size adapter is that where it’s threaded on pvc? I picked up a 2 inch pipe with this adaptor but that threaded part is too big. Maybe it’s a 2inch where the pipe and adaptor connects then becomes 1 1/2 by the threaded male part
Here are pictures of the pipes drive.google.com/file/d/12pdM5QbPiyjyIevE7ZaKTiz6Z6051mzo/view?usp=sharing, drive.google.com/file/d/14ylMsIMwW8ANLQu2xb0rBjkwPNtfe6Pk/view?usp=sharing, drive.google.com/file/d/1Q3q-2EehW1zhk67N05y6e4qWTuAMDokI/view?usp=sharing, drive.google.com/file/d/1feJx_YivJTbfQ7zY2lCtDLd8NARV02PL/view?usp=sharing
What's that dash you got on there?
That's an ICO Checkmate Enduro computer. The box around it I made myself with some steel I welded.
That's super cool thanks
Another good tip: use a vise to compress the tensioning device - so much easier.
Thanks for the info. I got a 2023 and I don't have flame-out issues with it. It is a new engine in 2023.
That's encouraging!
I've got a 24, and it flames out often.
Flame out is due to not using clutch effectively. I added a Rekluse to my KTM 350 XCF and it has not flamed out in the last 3 years. I understand some people are not Rekluse fans (personally I will never ride a 4S without one), but it proves you just have to be super active with clutch and revs to prevent flame out.
Wow I should spec my car out and race this. Even the fast pace doesn’t look much faster than I hit these roads while in Mexico 😂
m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=pfbid0ceyCyL98HnjUBYi2GBfTWUSdDbYghKrs5iJAwomGda29WaDhTR5KWFgVYuNXW8Pkl&id=100063738242795&mibextid=Nif5oz
These cars look slow but then again they're no white jeeps with green labels trying to pit them off the mountain 😡🤬
Thanks a million! Like others have said, the workshop manual sucks. Last time I adjusted the valves the chain skipped a tooth. Really anxious about doing the top end until I found this. Thanks
Glad I could help out!
The way you fix that is buy a 2 stroke
Lol! That was going to be my next step! I am always torn between 2 stroke and 4 stroke. I like the engine braking and the tractoring of my four stroke, but do miss the snappy 2 stroke.
So which one of the Mods worked? the exhaust all alone or a combination?
The combination of them all worked best on my bike.
Great breakdown bud. I just did a Hare Scramble down in Florida on a FC250 and experienced a tad bit of flameout trying to “lug” just a little in the tighter sections and bought a 9oz clutch weight. Still haven’t tried it out but the individual I bought it from didn’t mention anything about a ECU re-flash. Was the weight really that bad?
Yeah, it was really bad on my bike. It was easy enough to put on and take off though. Give it a try and see if it works for you
