- I think the knarly was designed to accommodate riders like me who love the Ibex but have been using the ibex for enduros and trail riding - the ibex t wasn’t really meant for that, but the Knarly seems like it is!
Kenda Ibex vs. Kenda Knarly: I love the Ibex, I have been running it for a while. I love that it gives you insane traction on wet rocks and technical terrain. I ride mostly enduro, dual sports, woods trails and an occasional hare scramble. The Ibex was meant to be used for slow, hard enduro competitions,,, but it does great at rocky enduros, rocky trails and any other rocky events. I was anxious to see how the new knarly compared. The knarly could become my new favorite rock tire.
I had some significant problems with my audio so I had to voice over for most of the video. Some of the audio and video are a tad out of sync, but the message still comes across. Hope you find the video helpful.

Try the Gauntlet too. It’s a killer. It’s the better lasting of the 3 Kenda Gummies but it doesnt give up anything in the traction department. 2 psi on tubliss it’s a banger
LOL. Great timing! I just finished off a Gauntlet. IT IS a great tire also. Great traction in extreme enduro and rocks. For normal enduros and rocky hare scrambles I like the Knarly. I think it is a little better as an all around tire. If I were doing extreme or hard enduro I would deff go with Gauntlet.
@@ben333river How do you think the Gauntlet compares to the Knarly? Are the gummy compounds the same? Which has taller knobs? Thanks for any help you can offer
Like the IRC V33S Gekkota vs IX-09 Gekkota
I’m in PA and ride FRO, just got a Knarly to try. Which direction do you recommend to put it on ?
I ride FRO as well. Mount it intermediate, the other option is soft which is for soft terrain. I had made some videos where I timed myself riding the same section 3 times with different tires, having the right tire made a big difference in my time. I lost the video files some how. I don't really have time to make videos now, but when I do I will recreate the test and post it. I was surprised by how much tire selection effects time, especially if your not a pro or AA rider.
@@benf4219 Cool. Thanks man. 🇺🇸👍
What size Knarly do you reccomend for the rear?
I like to get the narrowest one I can find for this tire, which is a 120. Can be hard to find them in a 120 sometimes. I have a 140 mounted now, it rubs a bit but is fine
I love all the Kendas and the IRC jx8 gekotta and the ix09w gekotta. I won’t run anything but those 5 tires. Ix09w, jx8, ibex, gauntlet, knarly. That’s all I’ll run.
I used to love IRC M5B. But it got real expensive. And once I found the Ibex I never used anything else....it is awesome! ...until the Knarly came along! I like that just a tiny bit better than the Ibex. It handles those occasional mud holes better and handles flat turns better. ,,, but just a little better. Ibex is hard to beat! My club puts on an enduro, it is a rocky, technical one. About 50% of the 300+ riders come through with an Ibex on the rear
@@ben333river try the ix09w gekotta or the jx8 either one if you like the kendas. They blow them all out of the water. Ibex, Knarly, and Gauntlet. Especially in the Rocky, rooty, gnar.
@@Drewski423 I hadn't heard of them. Love kenda stuff though.
@@ben333river give them a try.
I ran one Ibex, didn't work nearly as well as the equilibrium for my dirt and rocks.
I have found the equilibrium is great as long as there is no mud or really wet soil. It would be my first choice for dry dirt and rocks.
Does this tire have a stiff sidewall carcass? Good choice to use with tubliss ?
I've run the Ibex with Tubliss and didn't have any problems unless I ran zero pressure on pavement. These tires are very similar, I think Tubliss with Knarly would produce similar results.
I have ran the ibex, gauntlet, and the Knarly on tubliss. No issues. My favorite of the 3 Kenda Gummies is all 3 of them. The Ibex, Knarly, and the Gauntlet are all 3 incredible gummy tires.
We have been running the gnarly with the tubliss an no issues.
Very informative video man, thank you 🤙🏻
