    Bug with Evo ady and Marantz Cinema 50. Uploaded default ady file from Evo to one speaker preset. Changing back and forth between preset 1 and preset 2 results in bass ‘disappearing’. Can only be fixed by reuploading ady file to AVR. Sub distance settings 7.69m and 6.42m - AVR doesn’t like them? (Fronts and C: 3.18m, Surrounds: 2.21m, Heights: 4.29m). Firmware bug? Consistent and reproducible every time I try. All sounds great until I change speaker preset.

      Hey I recently mentioned the following elsewhere: Just thought I would mention (just in case for anyone with a newer Marantz AVR such as Cinema series) when setting bass extraction Eg 120 as part of LFE+main, it might not be stored/saved correctly. Once set and powered off at mains, when powered on you will notice it goes back to default 80hz. Set to eg 120 again (or whatever evo mentions) and again power off at mains. This time it should be retained. Although I tend to power off after every preset refresh, this needs an extra. Just something to bare in mind 😊 When uploading to a Preset, check settings and then completely power off. Once powered back on, check if all set/ok ( ake any changes and power off at mains again, repeat). Then you might not experience the swapping presets issue as described. I have the Cinema 40 and don't get this issue swapping but I go through the power cycle process first just to ensure its 100% all ok. Bit frustrating ..

      That's an error thrown during the calculation of minimum bass response frequency. It might have been over 75dB everywhere causing this error which might mean your sub is running too hot. It should be in the green zone during Audyssey calibration. I will introduce a check for the next build. In the mean time, you can try running Evo with "force 1st mic position" option or adjust your sub's volume.

It has simple gain/crossover dials -Changing the above crossover frequencies manually in the receiver is not recommended, adjust them with Evo customization options instead! *Do I need to make any changes to the receiver when doing calibrations or are all settings (crossovers. LFE settings, etc) -I've been using the 'force small' because I think my fronts benefit from the help from the sub - should I not?

      If your measurement mic positions were more than 60cm away in opposite direction from MLP, you should probably remeasure but listen the calibbration first, it might be just right. That setting is done in the AVR "LPF for LFE", nothing to do in the sub. Do everything that's orange and a warning in the optimization log. Evo will take care of the rest. I would first run everything at default and see how Evo rates my speakers and the dip removal efficieny numbers. Then you are free to choose. You should always test by ear afterwards with test tracks.

    Maestrro is my favorite version so far. It sounds great with wildly different genres, and my crossovers are much more reasonable. In a previous comment, @ocaudiophile said I might not get optimal results because my receiver (Denon AVR-6700) only has two subwoofer outputs, and I'm using two y-adapters to run four subwoofers, two in the front of the room and two in the back of the room. The next thing I'm wanting to try is the Directional Bass script. Do you think the Directional Bass script will exacerbate the problems caused by mixing my subwoofer impulses? Do you think Directional Bass will be worth it for me, or should I just stick with Standard Bass? For what it's worh, all my subwoofers are identical downfiring Klipsch Sub-12's.

    Hello OCA, once again thank you for this new version of your script which is wonderful. I have 2 questions: 1) in older versions the script asked for the distance from the center speaker, since v2 I believe, this is no longer the case but I've gotten into the habit of changing it manually, line 8768: dist = 2.75; is it a good thing to put my value or should I leave 2.75? 2) I have a denon 4700h so no “Bass extraction lpf” option; The result of the script below: 18:28:02 [IMPORTANT!] Final crossover frequencies (will be set automatically by A1 Evo): 18:28:02 [INFORMATION] Speaker C: 40Hz 18:28:02 [INFORMATION] Speaker FL: 'Large / Full range' 18:28:02 [INFORMATION] Speaker FR: 'Large / Full range' 18:28:02 [INFORMATION] Speaker SLA: 80Hz 18:28:02 [INFORMATION] Speaker SRA: 80Hz 18:28:02 [IMPORTANT!] The settings below should be manually applied in the receiver's set up menu: 18:28:02 [WARNING!] In older receivers, 'bass extraction lpf' can be set by the crossover frequency of the 'Large' speaker pair in 'LFE + Main' mode! I'd like to be sure I understand what I'm supposed to do, because I find it strange to change the crossover that's automatically calculated by your script. But maybe it's not possible for you to make a fully automated script because there are too many different AVR models. I did change the subwoofer mode to 'LFE + Main'. Should I change the crossover set automatically by your script? For me it's 90hz, and if so, should I just do it on the front speakers?

    • @ocaudiophile
      @ocaudiophile 3 дня назад

      That's not a crossover setting although in your AVR it's changed from there. WWhen fronts are set to Large and subwoofer mode is set to LFE+Main, front speaker crossover setting is in fact subwoofer lowpass filter setting so you should do that there. Center speaker is randomly chosen as 2.75 when it's not in the original calibration file. It has no importance, time differences between speakers are what the AVR checks but if you wanna see them accurate then edit the original calibration in the Editor, change centre speaker distance by 1 cm and save. Then the correct settings will show up in Evo.

    Hi Serkan...Thanks for the constant updates. Also, although i know, still to clarify : SW1: 120Hz (not suitable for crossovers above 120Hz), set 'LPF for LFE' to 250Hz & in the AVR for better LFE channel response! and [WARNING!] Please set 'Subwoofer Mode' to 'LFE + Main', set 'Bass extraction lpf' to 120Hz!.....: Wherein AVR will this be set .. I haveDENON 960H... In the UI : I have Bass section to select LFE or LFE+Main and below it LPF for LFE setting (what goes here?)... Once LFE+Mains is engaged the crossover section for Fronts also opens up ( What is the crossover here? )...

    • @ocaudiophile
      @ocaudiophile 4 дня назад

      That 120Hz is the lowpass filter frequency for the subwoofer, it doesn't apply to front speakers, front speakers are left as "Large" meaning they are not applied any crossover. Fronts and SW play together. This is LFE + Main mode. The next option is when front speakers are crossed over at 90Hz with the subwoofer meaning, SW takes over the bass from fronts speakers from 90Hz down. The subwoofer mode in this setting should be LFE.

    Vielen Dank! After 12 years of guessing which settings are right for my old avr, i finally have peace of mind thanks to you OCA. I was about to return my new x2800h because it sounded horrible, but then i discorvered your script and i am as happy as i can be! Only downside is, that i immediately hear when the sound tracks lack quality :P
