You demonstrated the scale's repeatability, but not its accuracy. You can only do that with a calibration weight. Does this scale have a calibration mode? Thanks.
Got my ECP new from Sam’s club on clearence for $45… already spent that and then some on upgrades/accessories lol
For 32.99 I'd give it a go but they're 53.99GBP in the UK so not so keen.
One of the best videos I saw about this little machine. One of the best budget ones in the market also. Thank you for showing us how you worked in it. I really appreciate it!! I have the bambino, but I started with the 3420 but this one I believe is the 3560 if I’m right, because of the steam valve or frother. Great video all around!!
I scoured Reddit, RUclips, and the web, but your video really helped me understand this scale. It is exactly what I need. I spent over two days trying to find the right scale for my LaSpaziale Mini-Vivaldi II, and this video will definitely make a difference. It was clear and concise, and I really appreciate it. Thanks a bunch!
Hi I just bought one of these, I think they are no longer using the teflon coated boiler? Can anyone confirm?
Run descaler through your boiler. You will see scads of the stuff when you purge the steam wand.
Nice, review! Can you mute the sound on this scale?
saw this scale on another channel but that person did not go into great detail as you did about it. that person was only comparing to all of the other scales they had. so it was the basic "this is how you turn it on/off, charges with usbc, has lights here, with timer and weight functionality, price." Now to one of your dislikes...I have other things that work like this. They have an on/off switch but only show charging when toggled to on. Why? The scale is meant to stay in the on position because it has "sleep" functionality which saves the battery and is instant on when you touch the power "sensor". If you are traveling with it and do not want it accidentally being activated in your bag you turn it to the "off" position. when you need to charge just plug in and unplug when charged, that is if you want to. I mean you can always leave it plugged in if you want to. I am sold and bought it.
best guide ive found on yt. better than fellow's videos as well
thanks
Is it 30 seconds from when you press start, or from when the espresso first comes out?
Just got my ECP4320 new for just under $100 on the last Amazon Prime day sale and so far just went with zip tying the naked rubber steam wand. I don't have a good grinder, nor want to invest in even a manual one, since I drink drip coffee on weekdays and this is only used on weekends, so I'm using store ground espresso beans using their espresso grind setting - but might try the "turkish" grind setting next time. I might do the bottomless portafilter for $25, but also noticed the stock pressurized one does have that removable screen in the filter basket. I could just drill out the tiny single pressure hole to effectively turn it into a bottomless portafilter for free.
Fellow opus vs MiiCoffee DF54??? which one is better?
Just got one for a wedding gift! Could you recommend me a tamper? I'm not sure which one I would need - a spring one or one w/o. Never done this before.
How do I turn the sound off?
Nice job young man! 🙂
Hello! Thanks 4 the video, i was Looking for some vídeos to dial in my Fellow Opus, because i don’t know what’s wrong in my case. Let me explain, when i grind i can’t get lower than number 5 in my grinder, although I’m using good quality fresh beans. The ones I’ve got now are roasted the 28th of August and 85SCA. (I’ve used differents coffees all fresh and over 85SCA. My coffee machine is a sage bambino and I use a bottomless ikape portafilter with the básquet that came with the portafilter. I use a 20gr dose because I like a larger espresso. My complains are that first of all I can’t go finer than 5 and I think I don’t get enough crema in those settings. After it takes ages to grind 20gr. I have to press many times the button, (recently discovered that a long press is for manual stop) 😅. My grinder has a lot of retention. I’ve cleaned all parts several times and see if it was all ok with the grinder and it seems all parts are in good conditions. Long story short, under the lid of the grinder it says that the range for espresso is between 1 and 3 but I can’t grind under 5, and it takes for ever to grind and I can’t get enough crema. Hope you can give me some hints!! Thank you!!!!
Good instructions but I have a question about the replacement clamps you used in section 12:05 thru 12:35. Starting at 12:36 the clamps are not the same as the ones you replaced at 12:05. Did you have issues with the replacement clamps and went back and put original type of clamps ? Just want to make sure no issues in type of clamps used for safety reasons. Again good job.
Super helpful. Thanks! I’d love to replace the wand on mine, but it looks a bit too complicated for me… I’ve settled for the easier mod ( removing the dual mode panerello sleeve and ziptie-ing the nozzle so it doesn’t fly off). Using just the silicone nozzle to steam without the attachment makes a far silkier milk, tho I’m sure the Gaggia wand replacement would be better. My new 3630 is leaking a bit from the group head when I switch over to steam from coffee, but I’ve just gotten in the habit of leaving a saucer underneath it to catch the excess. I’ve heard you can remove the shower screen and tighten a screw to minimize dripping, but I haven’t investigated that yet, since I only recently got the machine. Have you tried that? I’m quite happy with it so far, but I haven’t upgraded my grinder yet, so for now I’m hand grinding for the non pressurized basket and (cheap)machine grinding pretty finely for the pressurized basket. It’s been fun to learn the ins and outs without laying out a ridiculous amount of money up front. I wasn’t sure if I would want to fiddle with it as I want my morning coffee early and often, but I’m enjoying this more than I imagined. It heats up pretty fast, it’s not too noisy, the boiler heats the portafilter, too, and the switchover from coffee to steam is fairly quick. You can make several cups of espresso in succession without a long wait time in between. Nice little machine at a reasonable price.
Same here. Just got my ECP4320 new for just under $100 on the last Amazon Prime day sale and so far just went with zip tying the naked rubber steam wand. I don't have a good grinder, nor want to invest in even a manual one, since I drink drip coffee on weekdays and this is only used on weekends, so I'm using store ground espresso beans using their espresso grind setting - but might try the finer "turkish" grind setting next time. I might do the bottomless portafilter for $25, but also noticed the stock pressurized one does have that removable screen in the filter basket. I could just drill out the tiny single pressure hole to effectively turn it into a bottomless portafilter for free.
great stuff ! idk how you only got 43 subs, at least now its 44 :)
I keep changing the beans im using so keep having to repeat this tedious process - thank you kindly though!
How is the ecp 3630 compared to gaggia classic evo pro? Is any difference in the espresso pull shot and taste? I had the ecp3420 before and now I have the dedica stilosa which it’s not working properly and I’m thinking on upgrading. But I’m still scared on the aluminum boiler of the gaggia cause I was going to for the price and now I’m thinking about the ecp3630 since it has a stainless steel boiler.
Great video. Tech, equipment, tools, and ... a butter knife! Nice!
No worries 1. These particles cannot pass through the coffee tablet. 2. Teflon does not dissolve in water just use and relax
Bought a used one for 39€ Got a real 15g IMS basket and just used the stock portafilter. The naked PF seems to bend the wings after a few months rendering it useless since it couldn't seal anymore A few aspects are very nice. Fast heat up of like under 3min and the PF is also hot. Temp is not stable, but at least hot enough for medium-dark roasted beans. Very energy efficient. With my power meter i measure electricity useage and it used less than my Dedica after 3 months of daily usage Downsides Drip tray doesn't hold a lot of liquid and spills into the innner parts making a mess without seeming like it overflows Grouphead tends to leak steam and droplets a fair bit, even after a deep clean But for sub 50eur used, you can do some decent espresso and even latte art
Which year it's manufactured? I heard this about Evo model. Is it Evo or classic?
Also for anyone doing this, note that the boiler mount has different screws sizes: the 2 in the front are the smaller ones and the 3 in the back the bigger. Also another tip: the screw in the mount next to the steam wand controls how tight the steam wand is: don't over screw it to keep the wand relatively free to move.
For anyone intending to carry out such a service, please take lots of photographs or video every thing you do, to assist when putting the unit back together. This is a very helpful video, thanks
Alright I found this machine for $45 locally. Totally want to get into the hobby. I come from keurig shitty coffee. My budget is limited so my question is from all the upgrades what order do you prefer? I know the filter makes a big difference. I was thinking of just buying espresso pre ground since I don't have budget for a grinder...... is a grinder that necessary? TLDR: What are the order of the upgrades that you think make a difference (including a grinder)? Thanks for your in depth video! 10/10
A grinder is quite necessary id recommend just getting a $30 hand grinder of off amazon but you wont get the proper performance out of pre ground coffee
Had the same dust in my cup with Gaggia Classic from 2001, and the only solution is to buy compatible brass boiler for Gaggia classic :( .. Switched to DeLonghi ECP o_O
stainless is the only way
Last night I watched "best coffee scales" videos for hours and gave up, confuuuuuuzed. Today, I watched just your video for 3 minutes and you showed me everything I wanted in a scale. SOLD! Thanks! Buying a MiiCoffee Nano right now.
what would you say after 6 months of use ?
@@sorexys5756 I still use it daily for measuring beans to grind. I use the same 75.0 gram measuring cup and it ALWAYS weighs it as 75.0 grams. Also, it responds to every individual bean I add or remove (somewhere around 0.1g per bean). I would definitely buy it again. I think the one 'knock' against it is that it might not respond with the rising weight quite as fast as you might want while your espresso is actively dripping into a cup sitting on top, but it seemed plenty fast enough for me (it catches up to the current weight within about 1 sec). I don't make espresso anymore, so I only had a week or two of use with an espresso machine.
@@PeterC3400 okay, thank you :)
I just bought one this month April 2024 I did notice water inside the water container hose which made me wonder. It definitely was new because everything was well wrapped. I’m wondering if the water was from them testing it out making sure it didn’t have that issue.?
Hey, would white vinegar work in place of the descaling solution? Also, awesome video. The detailed breakdown was very informative. 👍🏻
Very nice with the upgrades.
There was a recall on this particular product
Yes 25 plus your labor and knowledge 500$ 😅 ……. Good for you !❤ eco kock😂😂😂
I have the gaggia classic pro, I clean the group with cafiza and descale the machine every 3 months and my gaggia is perfect, in April I will celebrate one year of having it, greetings from coloombia
congratulations, since it has an aluminum boiler which is susceptible to corrosion when it comes into contact with acids... tell us in the next post what taste the... aluminum gives you
I clean the group with cafiza every week and descale the boiler every other month. Mine is 5 years old and it’s going strong.
Coolness 😎☕️👍🏽
I want one now !!! ☕️👍🏽😎
Nice ☕️👍🏽
Great video ☕️👍🏽
Thanks!
I have one and 100% can’t agree more I paid $50 for my ECP on Facebook marketplace. ☕️👍🏽😀👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
Awesome! These little machines perform! Thanks for checking out the video! 🙂
who told you to backflash with cafiza man from the company that doesnt allowed man! just descaling with descale i have the mashine almost 5 months filled only from filtered+ quartz crystals with 2 coffes per day 1 time descalced over 3 months with no problems so long maybe just few minerals counted by the naked eye. but not cafiza man you will ruin the coating of the boiler....
@savvasav backflushing does not enter the boiler.
I wonder if many folks are using regular tap water and that is causing the issues. I use filtered water and have not had any issues at all after 4 months
I used filtered water from the store and had issues within a month of use. Unfortunately, I dont think this issue is caused by water selection.
But this substance hasn’t been tested in a lab to confirm it is Teflon , it may just be coffee from in the group head or scale from bad water. Plus when making coffee it’s not going to get through the compressed coffee?
Look at the pictures of the boilers open all over the internet and in community forums. Mine was a flaking boiler and is why companies are sending out replacements and even uncoated ones. "teflon-like coating."
Yes, and you're not sure you've pooped on yourself until you've sent your underwear to the lab!
From EU same problem , never descaling it , just with cafisa and after nor even 2 months boiler gate . Mein in from this year
Yeah really such a bummer... I ended up returning mine due o this. 😔
How do you like the opus?
I love it, planning on doin a long term review video. Truly easy to clean and is a workhorse!
