Ugo is absolutely right about the quality of acting here . An emotional and very dark episode , Jack's obviously becoming noticed and the team is a bit more ruthless in this series .Gwen still has empathy that raises moral issues which adds an extra dimension to the series .

Early season 1 I alone Fremdschämen. Second hand embarrassment. Like oh no he hates it it's so weird why do I remember loving this show. But than the second half and season two it's like ah yeah that's the Torchwood I'm fond off

Though I enjoy later seasons of Doctor Who, this season is probably my favorite of the older RTD era series, especially the last half. Back in 08 it was such a treat to see everything come together from the entire series

i just learned that apparently the original phrase was 'eat your cake and have it too' but has since been reversed to 'have your cake and eat it too' which has never made sense to me because if i have my cake of course i can eat it too. but the original, you cant eat something and also have it uneated, makes perfect sense

Jame Asher is probably more well known for being Paul McCartney's girlfriend in the 1960s. For that I was a bit sniffy about her casting in the SJA but she plays a blinder as Andrea and it turns out she has a very impressive body of work. She and Lis Sladen are just stunning actors and the subject matter here is really rather deep for what you could write off as a kid's show. And it just keeps going there. This, for me, is what children's TV should be: tackling serious dilemmas, real emotions and so on/ This show for me is way more adult than the first series of Torchwood.

The Graske we see in this was played by Jimmy Vee, who also played Bannakaffalatta in Voyage of the Damned, as well as appearing as the Graske in the first Proms.

The Trickster will be back in Doctor Who Season 4 - at least, his pet will be. Look for a giant beetle about the size of a human torso, just barely small enough to hide behind someone's back.

I actually think the Rose and Jack here is Banakafalata and Astrid. Both of them still died..but it was a 'new' relationship blossoming and Astrid said to buy her a drink first - in Titanic Rose and Jack go to that party in steerage and Rose downs that mug of alcohol and I feel like the Van Hoffs are that elderly couple in steerage scene in Titanic where they are holding each other in bed just waiting to die maybe? "Let's survive this first" love that. That is a total vibe! Also I love how you picked up on (and maybe it's just me) but the connection to Max Capricorn being the one behind it :) "Honestly if you fell, I dunno, I'm not that mad, being such a douchebag" Lololol and that face afterwards! I love your reactions! "I don't trust Rickston with the screwdriver" dying over here I mean...one of his names is 'The Lonely God' - in the New Earth episode, or maybe it was the 'Gridlock' where Novice Haime says that The Face of Boe would tell his last secret to a wanderer like himself, a man without a home, The Lonely God' So that is rather apt here! Also, I so love Wilfred (the old man running the newspaper stand when Doctor and Astrid teleported to Earth in the beginning). The small alien is a Graske, from Invasion of the Graske, a 10th Doctor story (right after The Christmas Invasion) that no one ever reacts to because it's not on the DVDs etc. It's on RUclips though, I think. It was a cute interactive story where YOU are the Companion and I guess it was on BBC iplayer?

I watched, um, something else [NO SPOILERS] dealing with this idea so it's good to see this!!!!
