The word عند in the Hadith does not mean literally "in front." From Sharh Sahih al-Bukhari by Ibn Battal 10/51: وقال آخرون: الواجبُ على من رأى منكرًا من ذى سلطان أن ينكره علانيةً وكيف أمكنه، روى ذلك عن عمر بن الخطاب وأبىّ بن كعب "Others said: 'What is obligatory for the one who sees an evil or rejected matter from someone possessing authority is to rebuke him publicly and however he is able. That was transmitted on authority of Umar bin al-Khattab and 'Ubayy bin Ka'b [رضي الله عنهما]..." These pro-establishment "Salafis" need to stop with these extremely academically impoverished attacks against critics of contemporary evil authorities as well as the similarly poor defenses of the same authorities. It doesn't say that "the only merit" is in a certain form of rebuke or that it must be "directly to" the ruler. Unless you think that the Hadith means that if a person sees the ruler doing something evil from within a crowd of 10,000 people, he must wait until he wades through the crowd and is "in front" of the ruler before he rebukes the evil action. This is benifit of Following scholar's of sunnah Our scholar's are full of knowledge wisdom and piety but Majority of the people do not Know.

Just to highlight the Sheikh’s beautiful response: If Allah wanted for this Ummah to be united, He would have accepted the supplication of His most beloved servant - Muhammad (Alayhis Salatu was salam). However the very fact that He - Subhanahu Wa Ta’laa - refused to accept the Dua of Muhammad (sallahu alayhi was salam) indicates that there is a very magnificent wisdom behind Allah’s actions and Allah knows best as to what it is. However, it is what Allah wanted and we cannot change that, therefore the only thing that we can do, is know how best to deal with this division and this test from Allah, and that is by ensuring that we stay away from the paths of misguidance that Allah has allowed there to be in this Ummah, and to make sure that we are humble and sincere when the truth comes to us to accept it, and to fight in spreading it, and to fight in protecting it from those who taint its image, etc etc etc. May Allah give us success and keep us steadfast

Whats the name of the shaikh?

For those who want a more clear link and understanding: The Sheikh - may Allah preserve him - is expressing the point that the one who causes an action to occur will share the same blame, and is just as equally responsible, for all of the actions that result from that person’s actions. And the Sheikh quotes the Hadith of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) as evidence for this, that the Messenger of Allah said from the major of the major sins is a person who curses his own parents, so the companions enquired ‘does a person curse his own parents?’ So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) responded: “He curses another man’s father, so he [responds by] cursing his father and he curses his mother, so he [responds by] cursing his mother”. Therefore, the Prophet makes the principle clear in this Hadith, that the one who causes something, will share the complete blame. Likewise, when the Muslims are weak, the person who kills a disbeliever - and then that disbeliever because of his superior strength to the Muslims - responds by killing thousands or even more of the Muslims, then the one who killed the disbeliever from the start will share the complete blame and punishment of the thousands of Muslims whose bloods shed, hence, killing the disbeliever who will shed the blood of thousands (if not more) of the Muslims, is worse than shedding the blood of only 1 Muslim (and both are evil)
