FIRE SAFETY - HOME & VEHICLE FIRE EXTINGUISHERS
What was this headset strap called?
I’m not sure what it’s called exactly but it comes with the Behind-the-head hearing protection from Peltor and Safariland.
I got the standard pure tungsten guide rod. The problem on mine is that the springs to heavy. It cycles fine I'm just weak to rock the slide.
Take note on how you are racking the slide, most people try to pull back with just their support hand which is difficult. What I like to do is push outward with the hand gripping the pistol while my other hand is gripping slide and only slightly pulling back. Something like 75% push with dominant hand and 25% pinch & pull with your support hand. If you struggle with that, make sure you are doing this relatively close to your body, the further your arms are extended out the more difficult it becomes. I have helped many people with this and it seems to do the trick. I hope my explanation was good enough and maybe I’ll do a quick little video in the future on the subject. P.s. I’m also a big fan of Vickers Tactical Slide Racker it is awesome and makes racking your pistol much easier.
Thanks. Great job.
Thank you! I appreciate it!
You can clearly see it says reduced weight right on the top of the packaging. Anyone who puts a reduced weight spring on a guide rod is a goofy!! Stay stock weight or go heavier
It says “Reduce Recoil” as in felt recoil not weight. On the back of the package it states “same factory weight spring.” I agree with staying stock, I’ve never had an issue with OEM.
I love the G42 but the Vickers Plus 2 mag extension causes feeding issues. Don't waste your money.
I haven’t had any issues with mine so far but I’ll definitely keep an eye out.
What are you using now?
I just went back to the OEM recoil spring and guiderod, haven’t had any issues.
Maybe go with a stainless steel guide rod see if that helps
I was thinking of trying one, I just need to find someone that makes them for the little G42.
The tungsten guide rod kinda negates the featherweight benefits of the little G42. Don't you think?
Honestly, the weight difference is negligible and adds little benefit. Over-priced “snake-oil” if you ask me.
What am I do you run in your 42?
I run lots of different ammo through my G42. I really like Freedom Munitions for your basic range ammo and then for specialty self-defense I run whatever high quality hollow-points I can find but I prefer Speer Gold Dot.
@@ShortStackSurvival I asked because mine will not feed any hollow points consistently. Hornady critical defense so far will run flawlessly and ball ammo. Anything else,se is a crap shoot 😩
@@ShortStackSurvival I just read my question and Cuddos to you for translating lol
@@ROOSTER-ql5fs That sucks, I’ve had pistols with feeding issues before and I polished the feed ramp with Flitz and a soft dremmel, works flawlessly now. I think sometimes there are tiny imperfections that can catch the tip of a bullet, especially hollow-points. If that doesn’t work, take a look at your magazine, could be a follower or spring issue. And if that doesn’t cut it, sometimes pistols just don’t like certain specialty ammo, I’d go with what it likes and buy a bunch of it so you don’t run out! I’ve had good luck with Hornady and Federal HST, but I can’t say I’ve shot more than a magazine or so worth of each due to the expense.
They fool me once, those are made in china, all patriots should buy from USA only!!
Thanks for the video. Do you still like/use the back plate for racking the slide?
You’re welcome! And yes I do still use it and love it, definitely one of my favorite upgrades. I bought another one to try on larger frames Glocks but haven’t gotten around to installing it yet. They are pretty affordable, so I say give it a try and if you don’t like it, you can go back to OEM.
@@ShortStackSurvival thank you so much for the reply and information.
Second very informative video of yours I've seen in the last 15 minutes. New subscriber.
Omg that’s awesome! Thanks for subscribing, I’m super excited to have you!
Good review. It is disappointing that these are not Made in USA. Thanks for the lead on Gallow Technologies, had not heard of them.
Thank you! I really want to get a Gallow Tech cabinet in the future, they look badass and USA made is my jam. I will say the SecureIt safe has been holding up well for me, but every time I look at it I think C-H-I-N-A and get annoyed lol.
Why would you even upgrade to a tungsten without supporting modifications?
Because the Glock store stated it was a simple upgrade that was same as factory springs weight, no mention of other modifications needed. Just drop in and go.
Great girl! We better look out!
lol! Thanks haha!
Thank you for the video 👍🏻👍🏻
You’re welcome!!
Its not the rod, its the reduced spring weight.
Yes, I know. Specifically for the G42, It is sold as a captured spring/Rod package (only one spring weight option) and states same as factory spring weight. Just wanted people to be aware that this claim is obviously untrue and that there are potential consequences when deviating from OEM.
This video is exactly the information I was looking for.
Awesome! I’m glad I could help!
Why did you remove the wing?
It was super uncomfortable for me and I did not feel as if it concealed any better with it on. That being said, everyone is different so maybe others would love it.
I really like Gallow Tech, but they don't even offer cabinets. They're appealing to those people who have the need to display their stuff which makes zero sense and provides zero security. Yes, the Answer could just be picked up and whisked away. It at least has a door that keeps the honest man honest. This is hands down the best choice regardless of manufacture than buying one of those stupid sheetrock "fire-rated" pieces of junk.
Gallowtech does offer cabinets, although their website leaves something to be desired and can be difficult to navigate. If I were to do it all again, I would buy either of these cabinets : www.gallowtech.com/wcab-74-26-15-1.aspx www.gallowtech.com/ultimate-weapon-cabinet-package-3.aspx
@@ShortStackSurvival I can dig it. I've got an Answer 12 already which has been great thus far. I need a separate room for my goals girl! :D
@@chris4883-e9f Omg me too! I would love to have a dedicated gun room and have some of my favorites displayed. Alas, for now my safes do the trick.
@@ShortStackSurvival I'm not big on gun walls either unless they are secure too. <Sigh>, someday.
@@chris4883-e9f I agree, behind a locked door is a must. I think the heavy vault doors are a bit overkill for me, but I’d have a quality lock on it for sure.
Alot that you changed should be Stainless Steel to keep it from ever going bad.
Have you had non-stainless steel items go bad?
Thanks for sharing. Had thoughts of making a change, will refrain after doing my research.
You’re welcome. I definitely think your money is best spent elsewhere, like ammo or a training course. I bet if we did a blind test most would not notice as huge a difference as they think they do. My guess is after spending well over $100 people want to believe it gives them an incredible benefit. I know my video has been controversial and even unpopular to some, but I’m just sharing my experience. It’s as if these “upgrades” are a religion and to state otherwise is ballistic blasphemy.
Thanks for the info, I was actually thinking about one. But a lot of people say yes, a lot say no. I’m sticking with stock, wish I could get something, but oh well, I’ll just become a better shooter lol I’m rolling with a 23, which is why I was considering, but I want no problems. This is my life. Which sometimes, people are like, oh it’s fine. Not fine enough for me. Lol
Thank you! I will say I have heard with the larger pistols you can get various spring weights that will accommodate the ammo you shoot and potentially have no issues. When you modify your pistol from stock, it isn’t always for the better or can have some unintended consequences. That being said, you can try it for your pistol but just keep an eye out for the problems that I’ve had. I enjoy shooting stock pistols but sometimes you are just itching to switch it up, I totally get it. Whatever you choose to do, just know when you’re rolling with a 40 SW it makes the 9mm boys jealous.
@@ShortStackSurvival I just hate modifying unless it’s 100%, I’m sure you agree. Stock Glocks have always just worked for me. Only a limp wrist could maybe jam up a Glock. Besides that it’s 100%. All these other companies just suck compared to Glock in my eyes. Glocks are simple, robust, and reliable. Grip angel is the only downer, but I got use to it very quickly lol
Glocks are very reliable, I love them. They are one of the best pistols out there, second only to the S&W M&P in my humble opinion. I think most people would benefit from buying ammo and shooting more rather than buying expensive upgrades that potentially impact dependability.
Put the clip in the gun, then use the tool to remove the bottom plate. You'll have a better handle on the gun and the bottom plate will come off.
OMG! That’s a Brilliant idea! Thank you!
Thank you so much kiddo, you just save me A little coin in a lot of aggravation
You’re welcome! This is just my experience with it, but I have gotten just as many people saying they had the same issue as the ones who said it worked flawlessly for them. I think OEM is the way to go.
I had the same issue, too, with my 43x.
Sounds like some people have tricks to make it work properly, but I just don’t think it’s worth it. Did you go back to OEM with no issues?
The girth 😂😂😂
lol!
Great non-biased review. Everything is made in China these days, and even those products assembled in the U.S. are still using Chinese parts. I’m over it. Purchasing this safe for the value and storage capacity.
Thank you! I understand where you are coming from, you gotta make purchases that make sense for you. All I want is for companies to be upfront about where their stuff is made, and not try and hide behind “American Based Company.”

Lmao!!!🤣
I love my Answer 12
It has worked very well for me thus far.
Sucks it’s made in china wont be buying one now
Yeah it really does suck. I would recommend checking out Gallowtech, they have some cabinets that are similar and made in USA.
@@ShortStackSurvival Thanks you Rock ! Good content though !
@@danielharper3250 Thank you!
The problem is definitely the spring weight. The tungsten guide rod does nothing but add a little weight, it shouldn’t alter the way the firearm functions. Spring tension will affect how the gun cycles.
Yep, I did a full length video showing that it was the spring weight. Glock store only sells one assembly for the G42 and they claimed it was same as factory spring weight. I just wanted people to know that the spring weight is in fact not the same as factory and they should consider that if purchasing.
Trump's voice "china"
lol! If only I could.
Thanks for the video. I didn’t even know this existed for the G42. I know when I install this it will take me 2 hours as well. 😂. All the best.
You’re welcome! And yes if I can do it with extreme difficulty, just about anyone can!
I use Sticky Holster for all my Glocks
They are pretty good, especially for the money. I also like the DeSantis Superfly pocket holster it works great and I’ve been using it for almost 4 years now with my bodyguard with no issues.
I own 2 Glock 42 gen4 380acp's !! Love them. Yes, i have Fiberoptic sights on both. Tango Down Slide Racker, And Tango Down Slide Drop/Release, NDZ extended Slide Removel, Ghost Trigger Connector. And i Use ETS 9 round Magazines with X-Grip. Turned this baby Glocks into a real shooter!
G42 is one of my favorite little pistols they work very well and don’t feel like you have a 5lbs brick in your pants. Love all the upgrades you’ve done! I bought a few ETS magazines and they seem to be doing just fine but I don’t have a ton of rounds on them yet.
It’s a gen 5 man lol
Short Stack; Just got back from the range and wanted to follow up with you. I tried some 1200 fps and 1000 fps jhp cartridges today. Fast, slow shots, single to 6 in a row. No issues at all. Same reliability, same accuracy. Typical glock! Shoot safe.
Ok awesome! This was with the Glock store brand recoil spring and guide-rod? I definitely want to get my new G42 out and try it again.
Yes. GLOCK store tungsten rod recoil assembly
@@rickgarlington114 ok thanks! I really appreciate the information!
I'm heading to the range in a few days. I'll let you know if I have any difficulties with the tungsten recoil rod. Be safe!
Yes, let me know if you notice anything! I didn’t realize it was happening until I reviewed the video footage. I’ve heard that their recoil springs and guiderod work well in full size G19, G17 etc. So this may be a G42 specific issue.
I think I saw that you had a slide rack assist on your 42. I tried one of those, but removed it when I saw the pistol was not going back into battery all the time. This was back with the OEM recoil assembly.
Thanks! That’s good to know. I actually picked up another G42 and it is stock so I can definitely test the theory and see if there were any issues due to the slide racker. I personally haven’t had any issues with the OEM recoil spring and guiderod but it’s worth testing the theory.
I can duplicate what you claim to be a problem that you demonstrate -with my 42 and the same tungsten GRA from the Glock store. This is not a safety issue as I see it because in actual live fire the inertia of the slide returning always causes the slide to return to battery. At least in my gun it always has. And the striker cannot release until the slide is in battery anyway. So I think your concern is an irrational one. The tungsten assembly solved all of the ftf and fte problems with my 42 and a lot of other people's also. You may have a defective unit because after hundreds of rounds my 42 has never failed to lock into battery while actually firing the gun or slingshoting a fresh round into the chamber off of a fully loaded mag. I have a 1911 Colt with a tight competition barrel bushing that will do the same thing if you gently ease the slide down like you are doing. A slight shake of the gun causes it to go into battery. In actual use this doesn't happen because of the return inertia of the slide.
During filming at the range, the G42 was actually having the same issue. I did not notice until I reviewed the footage. After sending the videos to a gunsmith and talking to other avid shooters, we all agreed that this was absolutely a design flaw and potentially dangerous condition which is why I wanted to share my experience with others. Everyone is free to use or disregard the information as they see fit. It is important to me to be very up-front with my viewers and not withhold information especially if might be unpopular. As long as people are aware and can make an educated decision or at least keep an eye on it when they begin modifying their pistols then I would say mission accomplished. Thank you for taking the time to reply and share your concerns.
Not an issue with my 42 at all. Maybe something else is dragging and the oem spring compensates? My 42 is about 3 yrs old.
This issue does not happen with the original spring and guide-rod, but I suppose you never know. I did buy another G42 recently but haven’t tried this guiderod with it yet but I would venture to say it would have the same results considering that the spring weight is lighter than OEM. There is a lot of feedback from this video so I was thinking of doing a follow up video to address the many questions that people have regarding this issue.
Lol, did it in less than a minutes, crap happens though, lol It's fun
Haha well not all of us are so gifted. I love tinkering with guns and gear but I definitely ride the struggle bus from time to time.
@@ShortStackSurvival I also will say, I've done it to 43x and 19, and that's when the struggle was real, lol 😂
@@snip_king428 I’m in good company then! Someone suggested to squeeze the magazine on the sides next time and then the baseplate will come out easier. Lessons learned for next time.
Nice video, very well made! I've been considering a Glock 42 for pocket carry, but not too sure if it'd fit as well as my lcp max. I wish Glock made one just a bit smaller!
Thank you, I really appreciate it! I wonder what caliber they would use to get it smaller? Maybe a 25 ACP?
Very nice upgrades. Enjoyed the video. 👍
Thank you! I really appreciate it!
Thats why you never change out the fatory internal parts that it originally came with the weapon. I only use the extra parts for when the original weapon is malfunctioning or visible physical damage is present💯
I definitely think you’re onto something here. I usually keep my pistols close to stock, but I’ve heard so many good things about “upgrading” all these components so I figured I’d give it a try. Honestly, I think the average person should keep it as close to OEM as possible.
@2:40🤣
lol!
That was a great review. Thanks
You’re welcome! Thanks for watching.
