Why I Don't Recommend Windshield Protection Film (HDR 60p)
Просмотров 2,3 тыс.5 месяцев назад
In this video, I share my experience with windshield protection film on my Tesla Model Y. If you own a Tesla or any car, you might be considering this type of protection to avoid windshield chips and cracks. Spoiler alert: I do not recommend it, and here's why. From initial installation issues like the orange peel distortion to long-term problems such as scratches from windshield wipers, I'll s...
How to remove window tint by yourself
Просмотров 2,3 тыс.6 месяцев назад
A quick tutorial on how I removed window tint from one of my car windows. The passenger side window was replaced after a smash and grab, so I needed to make the driver's side window match. I was trading in the car, so it didn't matter to me if it was tinted or not.

so fun!
Don't these protection films have self healing properties? And, as another commenter said, a ceramic coating will make it more slippery therefore will reduce scratches. Whatever minor scratches are left will disappear under self healing.
Just cover up all windows will go plenty.
Can a charger at a destination hotel be reserved?
I’ve never seen that. In the more luxury hotels they will have the valet manage the charging. You simply tell them when you expect to need the car again and they take care of it. This is a good thing as people themselves are not good at leaving a charger when they are done using it.
Commenting to show support and to give traction. Your videos are great and deserve way more views than you are currently getting. From another Tesla owner and RUclipsr.👏🏿👏🏿
As a thank you I send you v13.2.1
@@SuperchargedTravelsI literally just got the FSD V13 update. I should get more good wishes from you, because your wishes come to pass.😂😂
Great video. Do you have regular model 3 tires or some heavier duty off road ones?
I love all of the videos you post! They're incredibly helpful for a new Tesla owner and enthusiast such as myself and i wanted to show my support, appreciation, and encouragement for you to continue doing what you do 🙏🏻
Thank you so much for the kind words. I appreciate your support!
$255!? Yikes!
Great clear video you should do more thank you
They refused to tell you what brand?!? That’s wild.
Well darn, I was hoping to hear better things about windshield protection. I bought a used 1995 Lexus LS 400 in great shape except the windshield was pitted and had one chip that had been repaired. Less than 3 weeks ago, a rock hit the windshield on the highway and before I even got home, the crack traveled from the top to the bottom of the windshield. Insurance covered the replacement, but yesterday it got struck again. I was lucky, except today, yet another rock hit, and this time, I wasn't lucky. Small chip and the start of a crack. Immediately had it repaired for almost $200 today. I can't keep using insurance to replace it, so what options do I have? I don't think changing my route to use back roads and add an extra 30 min commute is the answer.
Your insurance rates are about to go up as well. I don't have any good advice for ya.
In Australia, that was a nice video,
loved your video, thank you very much !😊
Ty! I was curious too. Not goin near this stuff
How many miles have you driven ? Thank you.
I saw you on wham baam
Thanks for taking the time to mosey on over.
Very informative, thank you
wish there was a follow up video from wham baam
The other driver was not insured (he was excluded from the policy living in the same home as the owner), and they contacted an injury lawyer.
From the removal you put it looks like they use regular xpel ppf windshield film it thick and stiff
Dont run your wiper
Good advice.
I am paying much higher insurance now because I had to replace two windshields on two cars in 5 years in South Carolina. No deductible though! Both were claims exceeding $1000 and both are on my record for 7 years counting as high cost claims. The increase in insurance is higher than if I had gotten a DUI. Absolutely insane and inexplicable to me since both were caused by events beyond my control.
It is ironic that we all have insurance and yet are afraid to actually make a claim.
SOC was sooo high at every stop.
Real world does not always match ideal world.
This is amazing. Thank you for this
Supervised Ass
Oh perfect for perpetual middle lane
Very helpful thank you!
Wish we could copy and paste your parenting skills for the rest of America
mathematics are so cool! everything will be calm and steady
Awesome vid my friend
Thanks 👍
everybody gangsta still a feather falls on the camera 😭🙏🏻
Tesla's fsd will probably not work then and some cameras are on the inside
No
Cool
Must work well in fog. /s
It's all fun and games until FSD is driving into the sun!
So informative!
I liked the video for the "theres the dam tour" joke lol
this is a standard range model 3? lol a burro, is Spanish word for Donkey lol.
I really hope that' s not your real address there...
All I ask is a heads up before you plan on dropping by.
I have exoshield windshield film on my model 3. I have zero distortion or orange peels on my film. After 2 years of use, I don’t have significant scratches on the film because I applied high grade ceramic coating on it and I use a silicone wiper. There are some scratches from the installation process, but ceramic coating was able to minimize the appearance of some of the scratches. I would rather deal with the imperfections of windshield films than to deal with glass replacement every few years.
I also have the same product on my model Y. Again, it’s not perfect, but I rather replace the film every 4-5 years rather than replacing the windshield.
If you can afford a tesla, you can afford a room at Rubys Inn….cheap, cheap, cheap skater
You need to watch my other video Why Teslas Are More Affordable Than You Think ⚡ ruclips.net/video/CH9JYFyQ9vE/видео.html
7:17 come to Texas where we have 85mph speed limits.
Can confirmed that this worked. I used 409. Couldn't find any other glass cleaner with Ammonia, but this works great. No residue, pulled clean after 2 hours waiting
Thank you!
Thank you for the perspective. (Ending with a cheap shot at accounting for R&D is a little lame.)
Nice work! Is it true that RV campgrounds are starting to deny Teslas and other EV’s from charging due to safety concerns with their electrical set ups?
Campgrounds that were built in the 70's will not be up to the latest electrical codes, and may be concerned about how all the new RVs and EVs are pulling a lot of power. Pulling 32 Amps at 220V for 8 continuous hours will definitely find any weak points in a degraded electrical system... and if the system fails, it's up to the campground to pay for the fixes... so I can see why some are hesitant. It all depends on the age of the electrical system. If the campground offers 50 Amp service, it most likely can handle the power demands, as long as they are up to code. But it is up to the campground to make that decision. I ALWAYS call/email ahead and let them know my intentions and make sure that they are okay with it (and get it in email/writing). You don't want to arrive late at night with 10% SOC and nowhere to plug-in. Camp Mode needs at least 21% SOC to work.
My Model Y arrival forecast has been off by up to 15% at times (winter or windy). I never arrive with less than 15% when I'm driving in rural areas.
The battery percentage is always a calculated guess, especially with the LFP batteries used in the standard range M3 and MY. Charging the LFP to 100% allows the BMS to recalibrate and balance the charge across all the cells. The BMS can't reliably use the voltage to determine the percentage, so it needs to monitor the charge/discharge current (regenerative braking/acceleration), temperature (battery and ambient), recent driving history (lead foot?), LFP vs. NCA, Battery aging (capacity loss and internal resistance), parasitic loss (air conditioning), and other factors Tesla uses in their proprietary algorithm. Be sure to always use the navigation and have a destination. Tesla uses wind speed and direction, elevation/grade, traffic speed, humidity and pressure, solar load & cloud cover, HVAC usage and much more for the range calculation. Open the Energy App in the car to learn more.
This worked like a charm!
If you have a charger at home you never need to supercharge unless you leave the state or drive more than 300 miles a day. Been owning a EV and haven’t charged in public in 6 months. I just charge overnight.
Great video, thanks for putting together the whole trip & locations 🙏
Glad you enjoyed it!
Death Valley is an interesting choice for camping. That being said, I applaud your pioneering spirit, and it is spending time with your daughter that matters the most. I have a 2022 Tesla Model 3 and I live in Arizona. My Model 3 is the RWD version with 19" wheels which has approximately 260 miles of range. However, when the temperature gets above 105 degrees F, I progressively lose about 60 miles of range because of the extreme heat. In 110-degree-plus weather, my range drops down to about 180 miles. This is typical for Model 3s in my area. We have had a high of 116 degrees F this summer. One criticism: why are you wearing a mask? Cloth masks don't protect you from viruses or germs. Further, data from COVID show that groups that had mask mandates actually had HIGHER infection rates than comparable data groups who did not wear masks. Wearing a mask is not going to protect you. Apart from this one criticism, I am a big fan of you being a loving father to your daughter. Also, great job in providing a large umbrella to protect your daughter's skin. A LOT of parents would not have been that intelligent.
Thank you for the comments. Regarding the mask, when the sign on the door says to wear a mask... I wear a mask. This was recorded in September of 2020.
So your daughters name is elli? and she’s a fan of outer space?? seems like dad is really into the last of us❤❤
Actually, no. But I did just watch the trailer and it looks good! I'll put it on my list.
