I feel that we are all free to have our own unique viewpoints on this, and I urge you t...

I love this. This was a "waldorfy" thing I've always done, even before I knew so much about Waldorf education. My son is almost 2, so we're not doing much in terms of any strict education or anything, but we do a good morning song (Good Morning Dear Earth), a daytime circle time song (Come to the Circle [tune of Wade in the Water]), a bedtime circle time song (it's one I made up), and a going to bed song (the very last part of the goodbye song from The Sound of Music, "the sun has gone to bed and so must I...I flit, I float, I flee flee flee I fly. Goodnight goodnight goodnight") I also wanted to add that I just recently found your videos and I've found them SO helpful as I've been working on building a curriculum for my son (I figure if I get a 4 year headstart that might be best because I have a raging case of ADHD 😂) and just learning more about Waldorf in general. Thank you so much for sharing from your knowledge and experiences ❤️

I really enjoyed this video. I would've liked to of heard a little more about structuring the daily rhythms, such as when to plug in focused take, free time, quiet time, big silly play, and winding down, etc. My child is in a Waldorf school, so we are hoping to apply more of that rhythm and trajectory into our home days. ❤

I try to encourage them to be quiet, but it doesn’t always work out. What I’ve tried to do now is to get them to participate. I’m not sure if I have it up here, but when I did the Breman Town Musicians, I had them make the animal noises at certain parts throughout the story. It kept them focused and eager for their “part.”

I have those books too. The Roadmap to Literacy is one I’m still going through. I received it for Christmas two years ago when my daughter was 6 and then I found out I was pregnant with my third, so getting through it has been quite the journey! It has taken the backseat quite often. The other two books, without the teacher guide (“Working with LMNOP and All the Letters: An A to Z Manual for Parents and Teachers” by Howard Schrager), has just been used as a supplemental material in our homeschool.

    • @BeautifulLightHome

Yessss the Roadmap to Literacy is so full of information, but it can absolutely feel overwhelming at times. I can see how a new addition to your family can bump it to the back burner! But what a beautiful reason to make it take a backseat! And I think that’s mostly what I’ll use LMNOP for - mostly supplemental and poetry to compliment the main lesson.

I love this! I'm new to learning about anthroposophy/steiner/waldorf and im really loving it. My personal beliefs are that most religions and cultures are all pieces of a whole truth. And Waldorf seems to beautifully tie so many of them together. Plus it focuses on the child in a way I havent seen in other methods. Truly cultivating their spirit and celebrating who they are wholly. I've been loving your videos. They're really helping me as I plan for our homeshcooling journey.

Yes, Waldorf does really tie so many of them together! At the heart of it all, we’re spiritual beings and our spirits need nourishment and growth. We can supplement as we see fit in our own families, but at least Waldorf helps children learn in such a way to develop their own mind, bodies, and spirits!

This is actually what real Waldorf education is. As a teacher, you pray and meditate over the children you are given and implement to what their needs are.(That's where Anthroposophy plays a part in the teachers life.)A wonderful Waldorf teacher gave me some great advice. At the end of each year, you rip up your notes and plan anew for the children in front of you. Each year will never be the same . Wishing you a great year!

Thats why I love waldorf! Its secular yet attatched to all kinds of ancient cultures which can be paths for further discussion into religions. I myself am wiccan/taoist and my husband has eclectic beliefs, but I wanted my daughter to have plenty of introduction to all the major religions around the world through the cultural unit studies. The hebrew stories from the bible, muslim beliefs in ancient persia, hinduism and buddhism through ancient india, shamanism through native american stories, confusiounism in ancient china, celtic dieties, norse deities, greek dieties, roman dieties, egyptian deities, etc. I can't wait to see what she ends up believing and I can rest well knowing she feels safe and accepted in our household. I didn't have the same acceptance nor education of other religions growing up.

Please take this as me being nerdy and not annoying and critical, but ancient Persia would have been Zoroastrian (religion of fire-worship) with a small Jewish and Christian (what we would consider Orthodox Christian) minority prior to the rise of Islam in the 7th century, after which most of Persia became Muslim. In the early days the Zoroastrians had their own courts of law under Muslim rule, but unfortunately in more recent times the few remaining Zoroastrians have sometimes been persecuted by militant Muslim groups. I'm Muslim so I love learning about stuff like this 😅 I'm by no means an expert so please excuse any errors

@@katielarsen2630 of course! I'd love to explore the more ancient religions and lesser known as well. I'm sorry if my ignorance on the major religions in different lands isn't up to par 😅 we're just not there yet academically and I'm only staying one step ahead of her right now.

None of these are things to make. It's all things to buy and dye or paint yourself. Even the last thing that is actually somethings to make, is an advertisement for a person you can pay to show you how to make things. The title is quite misleading. I thought you were gonna show us how to cut up wood slices from fallen branches and seal them with seed oils n stuff like that. I can't afford any of those things u were talking about. lol. I find what I can for free. I sew my own handkerchief dolls from old onesies and stuff them with the leftover scraps of wool from diaper covers I made from old sweaters I found at thrift store for $4

Ah, I apologize that the title was misleading as that was never my intention. I was just showcasing things I’ve made for my children or things I’ve seen other people make. My intention is to make Waldorf accessible and to me buying the undyed pieces and dying them myself at home at a fraction of the cost of buying them ready made from a store is accessibility. These are just my examples of things I’ve made but it sounds like you have beautiful examples you’ve made. I do show you in another reel how I dye the wood loose parts, if you’re interested. I hope you find what you’re looking for out there 💜

Also, I want to be clear that my mention of ToyMakingMagic is not an advertisement as I don’t get paid for mentioning the website at all. It was just something I wanted to share from my heart as it’s helped someone like me with very little skills become more skillful.

Hi hi Kate love what you are doing here on youtube I am learning a lot from you as well def going to look into those books! I went to our local library and they have NOTHING about Steiner nor about Waldorf… almost like if this pedagogy doesn’t exist… do you have any idea why? I am just curious and also intrigued …

      @BeautifulLightHome 4 месяца назад

Oh man, I have the same issue! In my eyes, it’s just not as popular as most other pedagogies out there. And since most libraries are donation based, I just don’t think there’s an abundance of Steiner out there to donate. I do have a whole video on free Steiner/Waldorf online resources, though, if you’re looking to dive deeper on a budget! There’s resources for free audiobooks and free e-books in my video. They’ve been a great resource as I can never find anything at my library.

Love how passionate you are about this! Will you be creating your own MLB of the forms? Will you be teaching a new form everyday in this block or one form a week? I will have a first grader in two years so I can't wait to follow you on this journey!

Those are great questions. We’re going to start with a main lesson block that will be four days a week for three weeks of form drawing (so a total of 12 lessons) to help ease us into the school year and help my son transition to his first year in true academics. After that, we’ll go to one day a week of form drawing and we’ll keep those in the same main lesson book. As far as the lessons go, the book I showcase in this video pretty much has every lesson laid out, which is helpful! It’s one of the few books that has lessons ready for you. So I’m going to take advantage of that while I really dive into the reading, writing, and mathematics curriculum that I’ll be creating on my own. I love your questions! Please let me know if you have any more!
