merci beaucoup
That was exactly what I was looking for. Thankyou!
Great!
thaks for hrlping
It seems like the work process of Geomagic Design X, which is quite cumbersome as well. It would be great if there were AI tools related to reverse feature modeling that could emerge😂
I hope there will be some sooner. 😊 Anyway, I'm happy even for these ones because ten years ago, importing STL in SW was an extremely hard and sometimes impossible process.
I tried to make per your recommendation no luck would you be willing to take my model and generate the model for me will compensate your efforts
Hi, please find me in LinkedIn www.linkedin.com/in/danutep?
Thankyou. You go straignt to the point & thats helpful😊
You’re welcome 😊
What method did you use to bend the strings outward?
Just hot air.
HOW DO YOU GET TO MOVE EXTRUSION LINE TO FORM TRIANGLE
Add draft angle.
@@DWorkshop version 2024 does not allow to use draft in extrude cut any suggestions
Version 2024 is the one used in the video. However if it's not allowing you to make the cut you probably have a 0 thickness forming somewhre, try to move the outer line further away. Other reason is your draft angle is too big or cut too shallow, try to change these values.
Hello, Thank you, your video was very helpful! But when I open my STL file, the mesh preparation assistant does not activate. Do you know why this might be happening? Thank you in advance for your help :)
Hi, you should open as ScanTo3D file. Also it's not available with SolidWorks Standard. You can check also this videoruclips.net/video/rh2cudh6wZg/видео.htmlsi=ZSK0W7ZkPXCiZ8T2
That's a good feature to know about. I would love to see this applied to a more complicated model, maybe something randomly grabbed off one of the maker websites. A sphere seems like it would be the best/simplest case.
Hi Brandon, I have done videos with more complex models. You can find them in this playlist Modeling with Design Intent: ruclips.net/p/PLdfEJ9NcD36SCU3aR6ZDiNDcDszGUjG98
Is it possible to convert only one face instead of the entire body for more complex conversions
Yes it is, you can check in this video ruclips.net/video/D2Elk7Eu6K4/видео.html
Could you please provide me with the parts needed for this assembly? I have already finished my free sample-test and I cannot access it and I did not get to this question within the 90 min time limit that is why I do not have the parts for the assembly.
If you follow the link in the description of the video it will take you to the official page of the exam where you can download the sample exam as pdf and the files. Herebis direct link tovdownload them www.solidworks.com/sites/default/files/cswasampleexam.zip
Very good
Thanks
lot of problem with toy gun stl file, can you upload new tutorial video with Toy Gun ?
A lot of free STL files have errors. You may try with other model first.
@@DWorkshop Can you check my STL file?how can i sent you my STL file?
Thanks. Gives me an opportunity to practice for a revolve feature. I must gurse its rare they give you a revolve feature in the exam. I only got a month now to be ready for the exam. Your tutorials are definitely helpful. Thanks 😊
Very useful, my only request is to dot it a bit slower when you reach for certain tools and options. These practices and steps which are obvious for you may be completely new to your viewers. Just give our eyes a few seconds more to cope with your cursor. Thank you!
Thank you, I'll try to be slower.
Good info, but wow you went fast!!
You can slow the video speed, sorry about this. I'm trying to keep the speed balanced, but sometimes I'm just fast
Thank you
You're welcome
Impressive ❤✔
I appreciate your support, it means a lot to me.
Wow. Thank you!!! Very hakpful and very easy to start working wit STLs.
Glad you like it!
What goes from the seed to the flower? The string model is the fowler pedals but I cant see in the printables files where those smaller stems are.
Sorry, that's the PMMA fiber my bad!
Great tops tanks very much
Glad you like them!
What could be the part I am missing , I keep on getting a different mass , I even tried following these steps too but still. My mass is around 930-960😪
First check if your material and its density are correct. Then have a look on your sketch: 1. Is it fully defined? 2. Check if dimensions and relations are to the correct places. Also please share what is your volume.
Mass is 953.87 volume 120743.53
Cubic mm
That's much more, can you send me your file? Please find me in LinkedIn about it. www.linkedin.com/in/danutep/

Hi, the facet reduction numbers you inputted, how did you come about that? can I use the same values for all graphic models?
Hi @timileyinariyo1656, I wouldn't recoomend using the same values everywhere. Better start with small steps of reduction and observe the model. The moment you are happy with the reduction without changing the model geometry is your number. Another reason to go on small steps is that if you try to reduce with too much on complex geometry your computer may have trouble to calculate the change. I hope this helps 😉
Thank you for the info, I'm 2years late :(
I'm so sorry. But there are still some ways left to have a free exam: student and subscribtion, unfortunately Virtual 3DXW was stopped. Sometimes there are free exam vouchers shared on different campaigns.
You're a lifesaver! Importing the image as a DXF file works amazing! I was struggling with tracing a PNG file in Solidworks.
I know that feeling, because I've been through this struggle too. That's why I felt obligated to share this trick and I'm happy it helped you 😊
thank you for the review! It would be coller if you point camera at the SpaceMouse to see what button does what
Hi @DevilDaggersFan, I've done functionality review in earlier video in which I also explain the difference between the different models. You can check it here ruclips.net/video/IhnS4qyEPUc/видео.html
Thank you! Great presentation with lots of new approach.
@samvelsargsyan77, thank you!
"Soild Body" --> create msh bodies bounded by singlefaces" I am using the student version 2021 and when trying to edit the imported stl geometry, the following error message appears. "the feature has not been completed because the mesh geometry cannot be merged with regular geometry" May you have an advise?
Hi @FabHay110, Thank you for your comment. It's possible that in your version this functionality is still not supported, but I'll propose you to try a workaround. It works in my version I hope it'll work in yours too, make your SW bodies as you wish to have them, then convert the solid bodies to mesh bodies and combine imported and converted mesh bodies.
Thank you@@DWorkshop , It works partly. But anytime when i try to make a pattern or a swept boss/base the same error occurs. Trying to reconstruct the model. Thank you and thanks for your clear and useful videos.
Hi @FabHay110, try to make pattern of bodies only and swept without merging. I hope it helps. Alternatively try to work with ScanTo3D add-in if you have it. My first video of the ScanTo3D series is here ruclips.net/video/f6wyrUZ_TE8/видео.html, the rest you can find in my STL playlist ruclips.net/p/PLdfEJ9NcD36TGUlGpZh8KHKjJRnK_sZ9k
❤
This video is great! i'm stuck at the beginning where Decimate Mesh is applied, however, my screen doesn't show Decimate Mesh command anywhere in the Mesh Modeling tab, i have 2019 Solidworks, could this be why i don't have that feature.
Yes, that's the reason. Decimate mesh is introduced in 2020. Also keep in mind that I work with the latest version in my videos and even if some feature is available in so much earlier version it can behave in a different way.
this is awesome, thank you!
Glad you like it!
Thank you, keep it up❤❤
Thank you, I will
😮
Thank you for saving Scrubby's life!
Hey Aryan, nice to see you around 😊 Thank you for your comment!
I was confused at the very end when you were doing a circular pattern... and then I realized that a simple mirror about the plane would have made the text mirrored. Smart!
It was many years ago when I kept trying to make it with mirror, and then it was like "Ohhh". Then I had a period in which I was just making extrude cut or boss on both sides when I needed something like this, but it meant also another sketch which is very unconvenient when you have to change the text or the font. At some point I got the idea to use circular pattern. Thank you for your comment, it reminded me for the old days 😊
@D Workshop... Love it :)
❤ love it back to life 😮
Always ready to help to robots working with passion :)
This was super informative! I hope to attend your presentation tomorrow!
Thank you! Hope to see you tomorrow then 😊
Is there a way I can follow the presentation? Seems to be quite resourceful.
I'm coming straight from your LinkedIn post and Thank you for this! After several years of trying to manipulate STL files for medical 3D printing applications, I finally now have a way around it in SolidWorks. I was previously forced to try new software including Blender, which was a bit of a hassle for me. This feature right here gives me better insights on how to approach the problem next time using SolidWorks. Thank you! 💯 One of your LinkedIn followers.
I'm happy it was helpfull. As I like to say it's still not perfect tool, but gives a great base to work with mesh files. Soon I'll publish another video on this topic, that shows how to make hybrid convert Manual+Automatic.
Indeed. And while it isn't a perfect tool it at least gives a starting point for manipulating STL files within SolidWorks. I can't wait for the next video! 🤗 I trust it will come through quite handy.
thanks, it helped
Thank you for watching and finding it helpful!
Mesh data is never this clean. Also Scanto3D hasn't been updated in over 15 years, there is so much that needs to be updated about the plug-in. Definitely some of the Gold Partner plug-ins like Geomagic or Power Surfacing offer areas that DSS needs to take a look at updating around handling and working with meshes.
Let's not forget that mesh data doesn't solely come from scans; there are numerous free STL files available thanks to the 3D printing community, and they are often very clean. Many SolidWorks users may find it difficult to afford $6.6k plug-ins, and for them, ScanTo3D is at least functional to some extent. If you primarily work with scan data, I wouldn't claim that SolidWorks is the best software for that purpose. However, if you occasionally need to import meshes, then ScanTo3D is a valuable tool to have. It's worth noting that ScanTo3D was introduced in SolidWorks in 2010, so it's unlikely that it hasn't been updated in more than 15 years, given that it has only been in existence for 14.
@@DWorkshop Scanto3D was around before 2010. Closer to 2005 where it was only available in the Premium version. It quite literally has not changed in over 15 years, like no progress at all. Yes .stl can come from websites like GrabCad or Thingiverse. You don't need a $6.6K plug in to start to mesh data in Solldworks. Power Surfacing starts at around $2K and it a Gold Partner solution and does way more than Scanto3D ever has. There are many areas that it's lacking in which have been devoid of updates for far too long.
What did you do in the last step?
Cut with Surface

How do I find out more about certification program as a student?
One way is through your school/university, you can find out more here www.solidworks.com/certifications/academic-certification . The other way is to purchase your own educational license and you'll obtain also free certification vouchers and access to learning material with it www.solidworks.com/product/students
Can I attend the exam in 2024?? Please help me to find the best way.
Yeah, you can always take the exam unless you're in the waiting period after failing. 3DXW free vouchers are not available anymore, because there is no more virtual event.
I want to become a cswa. Could you Please help me to find the best way??
I'm sorry for the late response, but for some reason I just saw your comment. The best way to prepare for CSWA is with practice tutorials; you can find some in the playlist below. Also, try the sample exam until you understand its parts completely. ruclips.net/p/PLdfEJ9NcD36Q4y0MgIdoEfUrujDM5E1P3&si=wyIpgelnq6bXz7RV
