Noah Cross hires JJ Gittes to find his daughter, but all he really needs to do is follow her mother. A plot hole wide enough to drive a truck through.

Her mother and his daughter had a very volatile relationship so he felt it better that somebody else follows her . Presumably he didn’t realise that Gittes had slept with her !

I think you work for the CIA; the movie is in your face about elite control manipulation sexual perversion / abuse and child abuse for pleasure and power. The story of the couple is just a vehicle to take us to the world Kubrick knows, 😮hates and wants to expose. All the other stuff are tricks he puts in or fails to put in for reasons we Will never understand. Dreams reflect reality he tells us the truth thru a story about a couples sexual relationship presented as a dream as much to protect himself as us. It didn’t work; they murdered him. Again your analysis failed or you work for the elites. But we know.

Hang on. Did I miss something? I thought that Cross had sex with his daughter and that’s where the child came from. That’s why when Jack was slapping her around at the end trying to get the truth she kept saying she’s my daughter, she’s my sister, she’s my daughter, she’s my sister. Which means that the girl was both her daughter and sister because of incest between her and Cross. Plus, given the fact that Roman Polanski is a pedophile himself this type of story line would be right up his alley, and probably turned him on. That’s my take anyway.

I always had it in my mind that they were singing to show how they had lost their minds together, the duality of man, the struggles of war. showing they were reverting to a child like innocence while being “born the kill” as it said on jokers 🪖

Right a fictional script, perhaps to put a positive spin on Mulwray's (William Mulholland in real life) activities which was buying up land in the Owens Valley depleting it's lake and draining the aquifer ruining the lives of the people in the Owens Valley Mulwray (Mulholland) was awarded honors, but they were purely political, he never was schooled in engineering which lead to several collapsed structures and the St. Francis dam collapse killing 430 people. Mulholland (Mulwray) was not murdered of course but his actions left him in solitude. The rest is show bizz.

I think it’s coincidence but I still love finding this out. Stanley probably would have found it amusing too. In an interview with Stanley by Michael Ciment, Stanley mentioned that he noticed coincidences with names. Jack Nicholson was the same first name as Jack Torrance. Danny Lloyd was same first name as Danny Torrance. Lloyd was the name of the bartender. Wendy Torrance was same first name as composer Wendy Carlos. The director and the hotel in the book share the same first name. He also pointed out that in a scene where Jack wakes up from a nightmare, the soundtrack “Jakob’s Dream” was used.

Mostly just the same continuity errors that occur in most movies, according to director Lee Unkrich, in talks and interviews about his extensive documentary project on The Shining, which included many discussions with people who worked with Kubrick. Despite Kubrick's reputation as a perfectionist, he didn't micromanage every moment of everything on every movie toward some goal of imbuing every scene with hidden meanings.

Yes but there's somthing I thought when i whatched the shining. The bear is apparently a time loop I thought in the 1921 scene so I thought is it one of them party's where they wear animal masks in the old fashioned party's mabe the bear man/dogman was trying to make all the over party guests gelous but my question is if this was a loop of a ghost in a time line how did the bearman/dogman die please comment and tell me how he died im soo confused and very deep in my small theory

This movie took some time getting into, I think alot of the reason I did not like it at first was because the initial trailer mislead me into thinking it was some raucous zany comedy and when it was clear it wasn’t it soured my viewing. But time has been kind to this movie, it’s easy to follow the more you watch it.
