Vintage Story EP 588 Exploring The New Village Area . . .
`Well, Teddy does what Teddy does. And what Teddy does isn't very nice. You could probably follow a bear around and collect all the game meat from the animals he kills. `Glad you took my suggestion about grabbing the various building materials from the Dungeon below your Base! You could also grab some of the aged wood stuff, too, if they're not part of the mine. `You should make an easy entrance to the mine from the dungeon, since they overlap. `Predator meat such as that from foxes, wolves, and bears, fish caught using Primitive Survival mod (PS) fish baskets or hooks (w lures), poultry meat, and red meat can be bound together, or "trussed", using a reed or vine cordage (looks like a circle, but not rope) and placed into a PS "Smoker". The trussed meat must all be of the same type. The smoker will accept up to 4 trussed meats of any kind. Get four pieces of firewood and place them in the bottom of the Smoker and light them. The smoker will count up to 100% and then the trussed meats will be smoked. All the smoked meats can be used in the cooking pot. This is the only way I know that you can get the most out of your predator meat and place it, smoked, into a cooking pot.
Don't forget that you can lift the loot vessels to bring them away from the lava
`As for the spear disappearing and reappearing, if it was "invisible" until you added stuff to your inventory, that is a bug that used to happen in 1.18, too. Might have happened on occasion in 1.19, but I thought they'd fixed it. As usual, some bugs "reappear" in updated versions until they figure out why they occur in the first place. `The Bowtorn have fewer hit points than the other mobs, it should have died early on. Pretty sure it desynced and a reload should have fixed the issue. `"Saltpeter can be directly applied to farmland as fertilizer, adding 13% N and 33% K to each block per use. Additional applications increase its potency." (Yes, you can add a fertilizer until one of the % = 150%.) In the same vein, Bonemeal from ground bones adds 3% N and 30% P to each block per use. Adding such fertilizers make it easier to replant the same crop in the same block of farmland. As the crops uses up the nutrients, it makes it more difficult for succeeding seeds to grow into crops. This is why crop rotation is important. IE: SIMPLIFIED Fresh cropland has 50% of all three nutrients for medium fertility soil. If you plant turnips, it will use up 30% N leaving the soil with 20% N 50% K 50% P. If you plant turnips again, it will struggle to grow due to lack of N (20% - 30% = -10% N). If you try to plant a crop with a different requirement like K or P, it will allow the N to "rest" and "regenerate" itself back up to 50% N. Planting turnips on the same cropland for a 3rd time will be 0% - 30% = -30% N. Rainfall or water does affect growth! One block of water nearby usually keeps the surrounding crops 75% watered. If the crops are 100% watered, they do SEEM to grow faster--at least they did on earlier versions of the game. For some plants that might not matter as crop maturity will still occur on the same day, but for other longer growing plants it could mean the difference between 1-3 days earlier. This is one of the reasons why it may be better to plant longer growing plants between rows of water, or to place an exterior block of water between circles of 8 farmland. It all depends on how desperate you are for your crops to grow quickly. During autumn, it could mean the difference between harvesting a crop fully, harvesting a crop with partial temp damage, or not harvesting the crop at all and waiting for it to turn into a completely damaged/ungrowable crop so you can 100% harvest the seed. `From what I remember, you can juice berries in the fruit press and the resulting dry fruit mash could be fed to the boars and sheep. Not sure if hares will eat it since they're modded. `You will need a cooking pot for making candles and however many cooking pots for making meals for immediate usage or to put into crocks for eating at a later date. `You can also fish with fish baskets and hooks (with lures). Fishing is near impossible during winter because all the water turns to ice--at least on the surface. Never tried to fish in 2-3 deep water, not sure if it's just because I fished near the shore or if it's because the Primitive Survival fishing isn't made for deeper or winter fishing. If you are in an area very far from limestone or chalk aka stone that makes lime, the baskets will fairly often catch shells. Over one year, with several fish baskets going, I got a huge variety of shells and ended up using a whole trunk for them and knew it might not be enough for the variety of shells in the game. If I hadn't already been near a limestone biome at the time, they would have been the only way for me to make leather.
Hi, did you find your weapon, I did see at time 7.06 outside far left top tool rack tin bronze falx, not sure if that was the one you were looking for. Nevermind, you found it. lol
Thank you, yes, I did find it in the place I looked several times. LOL. I don't often have the yellow falx, so I was looking for copper one even though I knew I had a tin bronze falx. Maybe today will be better but I wouldn't hold my breath on that.
So there was someone else sighing and thinking, "It's right THERE." LOL Once you said it was tin bronze, I immediately started looking for yellow instead of orange. I think the Scythe might have thrown you off, too, Laura. There's something about a tool that covers a large area of tool rack real estate that makes me forget what's supposed to be on the tool rack with it. Especially, if it's something like a knife. I don't know how, but it blends in!
@ I was yelling at my character during editing as if that would change what was already recorded.
I think you have the right idea. That dungeon is a great find with the 3 TLs and tools and such, but it's not getting you home. Both the Dungeons and Mines are RNG generated sections, so some will have nothing much and some will have lots of great finds, but the majority will have a balance in between. See you at the homestead!
that devastated area reminds me of the Brown Lands in LOTRO. Those big gears remind me of Temporal storms. I wonder if this is where Dave lives.
This was more "spoilers" than I expected! Now, I can see why Gerste hasn't really decided whether to make his village mod advance into 1.20!! (I said a LOT more, but deleted it because of possible spoiler issues.)
Gerste commented on the mod page. If I had to find one of the new sites, I would rather have found the village.
@@lauraslittleworlds Thank you! I looked up his comments on the Mod Database page and on the VS Discord under VS Village where he put it up under a spoiler. I can see the issues a lot more clearly now. Oof! I wish Anego had talked to Gerste first!
@@Sarafimm2 Yeah, I can see why he didn't update the mod. All that sounds complicated and discouraging to someone who doesn't understand how to make a mod so detailed. I do have hope that he or someone does update it.
OMG 😯😲😮Can't wait to find out 😀
This just doesn't work did they remove it in a new update
The date on this video is Oct 22, 2023. This game has evolved considerably since then. I am guessing this might have also changed. Tap the H key and look in the guide for more information about cooking.
@@lauraslittleworlds I found your video because of this issue, it doesn't work. H hasn't been updated. Soup is off the table.
Really!? That stinks. What version are you playing? I am on 1.20.3, I haven't done much cooking in the new update, so I have yet to learn what has changed over time. Sorry.
@@lauraslittleworlds No worries, not your fault. Hope the devs fix it.
@lauraslittleworlds i found out there is a setting that is somewhat random where the buckets don't make source blocks cause my world i didn't mess with the settings and it was default on so my bucket didn't make source block
Saw "Ep 609" of Vintage Story in my recommended and had to go to episode 1
Thanks for joining us.
@@lauraslittleworldsthank you! I was also wondering, is the season/clock in the top left from a mod?
@@anntony5585 Yes it is. Simple HUD Clock. Although I use a different mod for 1.20, Status Hud Continued.
`How to deal with the lava? Locate source block. Pick it up with (metal) bucket. Not easy at your tech level right now. Otherwise, grab some blocks that won't catch fire and block off the flow so you can get close to the source block and either block it off so it's contained or displace it with a block. Alternatively, if you like the obsidian block for decor, you can try using a bucket of water to turn the lava into obsidian. There is a trick to make endless Basalt blocks using lava and water. It might be good to keep at least one or two lava source blocks if you want to try that some time in the future. `Leg armor goes in the leg armor slot on your character. It's one of the empty locations to the left of your clothing. I know it's just "RUclipsr Brain Syndrome" where you can't figure out something the viewers would find "easy" at that exact moment in time because you're also thinking of other things in the back of your mind. Like, "How did I get here? Where is the way out? How much stuff am I going to have to shuffle in inventory so I can take it with me when I leave?" and other thoughts. `I think the Bowtorn are easier to kill because, as distance fighters (technically artillery/archers), they don't have as many hit points applied to them. In UN-ideal conditions, a couple of Bowtorn could easily kill a player. While a Drifter throwing stones would take a lot longer. Making the Bowtorn easy to kill sort of balances them out. `30:15 Shivers, on rare occasion, will stand up. In this case, it looked like it was hanging from the ceiling. `I think you came in where you put the ladder to get into the mine tunnel, and the spot right next to it with the broken block going down is where you exited the previous tunnel you had been exploring.
Metal bucket. Check. Fireproof blocks. Check. I do have a lot on my mind presently and not just game related. The way you describe it is spot on dead accurate. Sometimes I have a hard time enjoying where I am because I am overly concerned about being lost and not finding my way out. This is one huge reason I like and use Creative mode to get me out of places.
Most Popular video
My first episode I watched of yours was when you made your bathroom (I think) down in your underground dungeon home 😀
` Yes, dig the trench around the farm animals. Wolves can kill through fences, so can foxes. Not sure if foxes are killing piglets or just wolves. Both will kill the baby hares or leverets. `Please remember not to put anything next to the farm fence that the rabbits can use to go over the fence and get into your crops. `At 33:28, you put up webs, but there was a torch holder you could have taken that you left behind them. `Yes, you went into a different part of the Dungeon that was blocked off. If you had a metal bucket (you would have to make one), you could move the lava around. What for? Not sure. `Have you thought about my idea to use a pickaxe to liberate the various stone blocks in the Dungeon for your personal use? I often find ore deposits behind them. `I really like how you used the double gate system for the boars and hares.
`Just a note, you need flint to make fire clay if you don't source it from below coal deposits. So, if you can save up your flint, it might be a good idea for the future. Peridotite stone can make tools and spears. `You may want to move the pig trough away from the fence so they don't use it to climb over the fence. `Daub put on Wattle Fences can make a block for building. You can add a certain amount of daub, so the first application shows parts of the fence, but the more daub you put on it makes it look like a plastered wall. `Primitive Survival mod's Smoker will allow you to put smoked predator meat in your cooking pot. You can also, "on the fly", cut up raw predator and red meats with a knife so it can cure into jerky, and you can eat it once it's done curing. `Truthfully, the long pit is quite useful for capturing fresh food. Smart of you to use hares as bait. (joking) `Cuniculture - Rabbit/Hare Farming is available for 1.20 !!! mods.vintagestory.at/cuniculture `If you want, you could take up the rope ladder so those abominations don't keep showing up from below.
Thank you for knowing all these new details. I am taking notes and hopefully I will retain them when needed. I can't wait to do the wattle and daub on one of my houses. Which mod was it that let us cook wild meat? Bait. LOL. I am sitting at my desk nearly falling asleep (staring at spreadsheets will do that to me) I see your comment and wonder how I missed it. I read that line and startled myself wide away laughing. I am ok with the new locals visiting. One of them gave me a blue disk. One benefit of making the aggression option cute and cuddly is not having to fear the only company I have in this new world. I think if and when I am done with the tunnels below the house, I will take up the ladder.
@@lauraslittleworlds The Stone Quarry mod has a "rubble box" and special hammer that will allow you to turn small stones you find everywhere into gravel or sand. Great for recipes, like daub, that requires sand or for panning if you want something specific from the panning loot tables.
Bowtorn missed lesson 101 If you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen 🤣
`You really need to think about getting a crop farm going with fences around it! `About 80% of the time, in my experience, a drifter who stays out for a while instead of despawning has something useful when you kill them. `Again, with the trying to StepUp, but you were blocked by the unfired molds. Change to the StepUp Advanced mod and give yourself the 2 block step up to make your Quality of Life simpler. `Remember that there has been a change in how you get candles. It will require a cooking pot, and then you can't use the cooking pot for food afterward. `I know you're not doing the best on a variety of foodstuffs, so why don't you try making some Primitive Survival fish baskets to catch some fish. Later on, once you start getting lots of food, you can use the PS Smoker to preserve your meat. The Smoker also handles predator meat. Normally, you can't eat predator meat in the cooking pot, but if it's been smoked, you can! `Making fish baskets and using the smoker requires a lot of cattail reeds, so it might be a good idea to harvest reeds from other locations and bring them back to your base to make a "reed farm". `The room with the pot and chair had a brass torch holder you could take (32:50). In fact, there are a lot of "extra" torch holders that you could use to either distribute around the Dungeon or, even better, grab some of them and take them up to your house. You could also start dismantling some of the dungeon walls and get whole blocks for your Home Base. Definitely find more copper before doing so, but this is an easy way to furnish your home with a bed, torch holders, etc. `Watching you run around the Dungeon, makes me wonder if the Scrap mod would still work. Some mods don't require any specific code changes in updates and will just continue working. Because the Scrap mod essentially breaks down what you have in your inventory, I wonder if it would still work in 1.20. If so, some of those baskets of pottery might translate to bowls, cooking pots, or crocks! `I always use the scrap metal for the DRBraziers mod's scrap metal braziers. Good episode and some really great finds!
I would pull up the Dungeon ladder and store it. Then I would take apart the entire build and figure out if I could make a building slightly higher in elevation compared to the rest of the area. Then I would turn the Dungeon into either a side room or an "out house"--especially if you like my idea of making a village full of Traders.
I know you miss the villages, but I think this might be a good opportunity for you to actually use some of the mods you've never really used AND follow the game progression/storyline. This means seeing if the Boss in the Archives attacks you and if not, then you don't really need to get to steel level, but at least getting up to iron level with some Windmill(s) so you can use a helve hammer and pulverizer (and automate the quern). Then start on the objectives of 1.20 like getting an Elk, making a sailboat, and finding the other 4 Boss locations and exploring them. It would be interesting to see what type of home you make. The type of farm and barn(s), too. Since I don't know much about the 4 Boss locations, you may need to come home between each one and work on stuff. I know you are definitely going to need a Tent Bag!! And some long term food stuffs. Maybe look into your food mods. You may need to find salt/halite or at least trade with a Trader. You WILL need to find a Treasure Hunter Trader. Actually, this might be an opportunity for you to make your own Village and stock it with the various Traders! Okay, now I'm starting to want to move to version 1.20 because I won't really have to worry about the Traders and I'd be doing most of the work for the farms and animals anyways.
It sounds to me like you'd love 1.20. You sound excited to discover all those things. Unfortunately, I just want to play with the villages and villagers. I started playing Vintage Story on March 24, 2023, 2 months before I found the village mod. I had a huge farm with too many animals and chickens and a windmill with the automated quern and crusher and chests and trunk filled with all sorts of things. I used mods that stopped monsters and wolves and bears, and I rarely went underground due to being claustrophobic and afraid of getting stuck in a cave. I felt like that was the extent of my game play and then I found the village mod and discovered creative mode. That, for me, breathed new life into this game and eliminated my fear of being buried alive. From the moment I was introduced to this game (March 3, 2023) I watched videos and never did I see anyone show their interactions with the villages. Then after I found the village mod, I watched more videos. No one ever showed anything to do with the villages. That was when I decided to stop waiting for someone to show me the villages, I would show them myself. A year and a half later I still rarely see anyone show off or even talk about a VS Village mod village. I think my point is that I felt my purpose in playing this game became apparent when I discovered the village mod. Right now, I am not getting the same enjoyment as I did when I knew there was a village just around the corner. I am going to finish the storyline I am currently on and assess whether or not I go back to 1.19 until someone updates the village mod. You are accurate when you say I miss the villages.
@@lauraslittleworlds I'm really enjoying the world with Villages, too. Sure, I could update to 1.20, but that would mean returning to a "Bunker Base". Essentially, working on the Survival aspect for food, shelter, workspace, and storage. You could join with other Players, but that essentially speeds up everything because while you are doing IRL, someone might be doing the "chores" at the base or out finding and digging out ores or ruins. In Multiplayer, going from Stone Age to Steel Age can actually happen in less than an IRL day with a good spawn and enough people. Making an aesthetic build like a Hobbit House or even a Hobbiton (village) might sound cool, ultimately, you're just putting off the end game to pretty stuff up. Which is great for some people! But not everyone, and it's still very, very lonely. I WANT to see all the cool new stuff! But I don't know if I could sacrifice the Villages without knowing if they're going to be continued. I think it comes down to WHAT we see and/or interact with in that first new location, which I believe is The Enclosed Village. How close is it to Gerste's mods?
did you ever played modded minecraft? think you would like it
Nope. Never got into Minecraft. Can't pinpoint why, just never appealed to me.
`I've decided to start marking the poisonous mushrooms in the mines and the edible mushrooms on the surface, so I don't mix them up. Or I could use one of the Custom map markers as a specific colored dot and hit it every so many steps in the mines. I've noticed that the map puts the last marked item on top when it comes to map markers. So too many mushroom markers will cover your copper/tin/iron marker. Best to mark your mushroom (or whatever) first and mark the ores last. `Red clay in 1.20 is a vanilla item. Blue clay may be found at higher elevations. Fire Clay found under coal deposits underground, but I don't know how big they are. I know the coal deposits can be quite big. `I'm not the only one who has noticed that wolves seem to be more prevalent. Not sure if it's because everyone I've watched start a new 1.20 world seems to only find Forest areas as good base locations. Or if wolves are actually showing up more often than they should. `Which mod has the green and red grapes? `Just an FYI, that ladder leads down to one of the Dungeons, and it was at level 51. The underground mines are around level 54. So the mines may show up at odd spots. If the Dungeon has any areas that go upstairs, they may conflict with the mines, too.
I noticed that the auto map maker mod uses shades of the same color to indicate above and below ground with some items. I started doing that with the last version. Have yet to follow along in this version. OK - Red clay is eye level. Blue clay is UP (blue being the color of the sky). Fire clay is DOWN. (Fire and coal being associated with bad behavior.) I need association to remember things. Real Grapes by xXx_Ape_xXx
@@lauraslittleworlds Thank you about the Grape mod! I think we all need to associate items, but some of us might do it unconsciously. I have issues with the map mod that it marks the SURFACE level and not the actual level. Since I know the Underground Mines mod puts everything at level 54, I don't have to mark it. But I'm really beginning to think about how I mark the mines so that I don't accidentally over mark other items that are on the surface. I think part of the issue is that the map program allows us to use whatever colors we want, and not just the colors given to us to use. I mean, when you mark the Traders, they all show up as Yellow, I think, but you can actually change them to any RGB color by using the name or color ID#. You can do this with all the AUTO map markers, including the 3 custom ones they give you. So you could turn good mushrooms light brown and bad mushrooms burnt sienna if you wanted to. I'm just really, really happy to see that the Auto Map Markers mod was updated for use in 1.20!
Really relaxing videos after a long day, love this kinda chill videos
`The vanilla raft is a raft with an oar and a spot for a storage basket or second person. The Primitive Survival raft is more like a kickboard and I think it might be faster than the vanilla raft, but don't quote me on that. `One of the big things I've been noticing with everyone's new 1.20 worlds is that there is a lot more water in them. Sort of makes me think you need to find a good patch of land connected to water so you can take your Elk in your boat, but the boats can't be picked up and moved easily. Feels like you either get a world with a definite ocean or you get a world that is nearly all land so you can ride your elk. All these worlds with lots of tiny water spots that look like marshes would be very annoying. `Olivine is used to make green glass and refectory bricks for the vanilla pottery kiln, and the build to turn iron into steel. `No space? I can already see a need for a Tent Bag. LOL `Don't the Birch "bushes" drop canes you can use to make a storage basket for your back? (Primitive Survival and Carry On mods) EDIT: The canes may be coming from a different mod, possibly the Herbarium Wildcraft Trees & Shrubs mod.
The PS raft is more like a jet ski. I guess it would be fine for traveling through water in an area with several islands. I think I prefer the vanilla raft. I imagine there are some folks who know how to manipulate the set-up options to balance land and water to their needs. I am NOT one of those folks. I haven't a clue how to use those options. Olivine IS useful. Check! I am working on a plan for the tent bag. Cane? Not familiar. Have you seen me come across this item and I didn't realize it? Presently I don't have any of the wildcraft mods. In the save I am playing now I get several error messages upon loading. So far nothing is wrong in game. I assume soon the game will crash and I will have to start over. I haven't done that yet cuz I just found a cool underground place and I want to explore it. Also, I am waiting to see if the village mod will get updated. Gerste did post a short message in the comments under the VS Village mod page. "Have not decided yet", when asked about updating it. Sadly, I am looking for reasons to keep playing the game if there are no more villages/villagers. I could go back to the last version, but I want all the cool stuff that the new version has.
@@lauraslittleworlds I realized after a few episodes that you weren't getting the canes from birch leaves and that it must not be Prim Surv that had it. Even I forget which mod does what! LOL `As for Gerste and the Village mods, ultimately, I think it all boils down to who had the village idea first. I mean, the Game Devs could have had it noted down, but not worked on it. And then Gerste started working on his own village mod(s) and has been working on it for about two years (first upload was Feb 28, 22). Then (two years later) the Game Devs come back in with a totally different code than what Gerste had and make their own village with quests as one of the Boss locations for version 1.20. I mean, DANG! You can't really blame anyone, but what does Gerste do? Did they ever talk to him about his village mods? Do the Game Devs have a specific coder who made the Village stuff? Will the Game Devs be offering the Village stuff as a future mod? Or even possibly as a future Game MODE similar to the Homo Sapiens Mode (actually, it would be sort of the opposite of the Homo Sapiens Mode)? Should Gerste continue with his own code or subsume the Game Devs code and continue making his various village mods? I think it might all boil down to how "functioning" of a village is that Boss location. And we won't really know until someone (speedruns) version 1.20 and finishes the Archive and goes back to the same Treasure Hunter who gave them the Archive location, and they get the next Boss location from them along with their first Elk mount.
The Castle doors are in the correct direction. They could have another safety measure of a great crossbar along the back of them that the defenders would put in place to make the doors even harder to open.
My current 1.19.8 world has a ruined Mall, but it doesn't have the meteor crash in it. That's good and sad. Good because it's more "built" than the others, sad because I don't get the meteoric iron resources. It's also up on a plateau where it's like 15 degrees colder in an already cold temperate climate. I thought about living in it and creating my own Mall Village, but I want a more traditional village. I'm also waiting to find out if Gerste (or anyone else) is going to have a 1.20 Village Mod.
Yay!! Exciting new home vibes 😃They're in the walls, small detail ... you will never feel alone 🤣Good luck, can't wait to share your adventures

im thinking about getting this game, is it worth it??
I like it. It has a number of ways to customize it to just the way you want to play using set up options and mods. Join us. Become addicted to Vintage Story.
I’m usually not a YOU NEED THIS!!1!!11 type person but I have been hovering over this game and finally decided to get it and oh my lord. Never have I ever seen an early access title with this much depth. If you like harsh but rewarding progression and survival, this is for you. If you like truly incredible amounts of freedom in game settings and building customization, if inherent mod support is important to you, this game is for you. Honestly, I can’t say I know much about the game but I cannot for the life of me stop playing. It’s 20 bucks. I’d highly recommend a college try at the very least. And man is it beautiful and creepy at the same time.
4 days in. like taking crack😊
@@BurnellPitcher I can’t stop playing dude.
You probably want to add the mod StepUp (continued) as well, if the rubble is jumping in your way all the time ^^
I will look at that mod. Thanks.
@@lauraslittleworlds StepUp Advanced mod will let you go up 2 blocks which is reasonable for a person to climb up. You may need to check the controls to set it so you go up two blocks. Makes it so much easier to walk and travel about without constantly bashing the space bar on your keyboard.
Oof, that was a nasty drop at the start but don't worry, I made the same mistake when I first found one. I forgot to shift while peeking over the edge to see the bottom... yeah, I fell all the way down. The kicker was that it had two waterfalls, so it coated most of the ground wih water... I just happened to land on the only dry spot in there. xD But it's definitely worth a look around, gotta be careful with enemies that may spawn in there but it's loads of supplies in there. It took me an in-game month to get all the worthwhile loot in there. But probably would be best once you have a home base set up and bit more prepared to take on that ruin to loot it. I believe the raft you made is the Prim Survival version which can let you swim across faster without an oar. Great for rafting in the day and to scout around, but not the best as you experienced at night unless you have a waterproof source of light. I think the base game raft can let you set a basket on it to have more storage or carry extra supplies for longer trips of exploration or resource gathering. Great vid so far! :D
It is rare that I expire in this game. I am usually so careful and I do have a quick button to hop into creative mode if I need to. But this time I was not quick enough. Once I get settled, I plan to go back and do a bit of shopping. I had a nice raft in 1.19 version. It must have changed in 1.20 and that is why I ended up with the prim survival raft when I looked up how to make a raft. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Maybe, probably have to look at the [wood type] raft, like pine raft, the same way the oars are. Probably would have to look over the list more carefully when you're not in the caught in the middle of no where in the middle of the night, like in the safety of a mud hut for a short bit. I think the recipe would be the same but made using rope instead of cord. But if Prim Survival is replacing the recipes from the base game with it's own, that could be a problem. I hope that won't be the case.
I did discover that rafts were named by wood type. Wish I had known that. LOL. I do plan to make a new raft as soon as I get settled in my new place. Thanks for watching and commenting.
nice start ;)
Thanks 😅

thats something totally diffrent, gl with 1.20
I should give this game a try, I haven’t touched the other block game in a very long game. Idk why but Ive been liking the slower paced vibe Vintage Story has
I just found out about this game and seeing someone with a 500+ episode playthrough already is crazy 😭
`Personally, my favorite was the Doncaster Vintage Mall "renovation". I'd just like to add, for those seeing the mall for the first time, that many of the blue tube lights were here in the mall when Laura first arrived. The bees and second story farm actually have glass low enough for the two rooms to be considered Greenhouses, so they're warmer than normal. The glass looks invisible (you can see their bounding boxes when Laura looks up) because it's a side effect from chiseling the glass. The DO NOT ENTER area under the mall is actually part of a Dungeon mod that just happened to spawn under the huge footprint of the mall. The Dungeon mod has a few different underground tunnel styles, but the Dungeon tops vary. In this case, it's a wide staircase that descends to the main level of the actual dungeon floor below level 50 so it would be several stories and sure death to fall all the way to the bottom. `Southfold still needed some polish, but I think Laura did a "walk about" and something else caught her eye, so she left Southfold as you see it. `25:00 These were the Aten villages (two were named Aten, the third had a different name) that Laura tried to turn into one large village unsuccessfully. They all had the "Desert Village" mod by CaptainOats which, while it looked great, didn't work for environments that got snow due to the windows being scroll racks, the roofs were stick mats, and other oddities. I absolutely loved the Bazaar walkway, where you pass by a lot of recessed trading stalls that had some Traders or Villagers working the Bazaar. And unlike the original villages, these desert villages had Markhor goats instead of sheep or chickens for the Shepherds. (The turkeys, capercaillies, and pheasants are from one mod, the aurochs are from the Medieval mod, and the alpacas are from another. Laura caught them to put them into the various barns/stables. There are several mods that have been made over the different versions of Vintage Story to add additional animals to the game.) CaptainOats was one of the first people to create new villages for the VS Village mod. Unfortunately, he used invalid (or non-vanilla) items in his builds and didn't abide by the Vintage Story Room, Greenhouse, or Cellar build requirements. `Note: Every time Laura tried to overlap the villages, the Mayor's Workstation with all the village info would crash and return to a default. That is when we found out she couldn't combine naturally spawned villages. We didn't know this before then because no villages she had come across had ever spawned so close to each other before for her to think of trying it. `Thank you, Laura, I forgot all about the beautiful Bazaars!
`I can't believe how much time we spent trying to figure out how the villagers worked and what would work when trying to restore a village. (I do not have any videos for people to watch regarding the Vintage Story Villager mods by Gerste, they were essentially comments back and forth in Laura's videos.) `I still think it's too bad we couldn't get that one building in the far corner across from the church entrance to work. `I think the chickens may have phased through the walls/corners when you pop in/out, or they spawned outside the coop. I always thought it was funny that the male domestic animals don't need to actually be in the same room as the females to get them pregnant; "Love is in the air!" Currently, the generation of the female is what determines the generation of the offspring (one higher) and the male just needs to be within a certain radius of the females. So far that I know of, you could literally put a male between two pens of females and only feed the females. The male's body condition would suffer, but I don't know if it would die. `Good memories!!
I noticed in that final tour of Northfold I totally ignored that "one building in the far corner". I thought about it after the video was uploaded and decided it gave us so much grief, it didn't deserve to be remembered. LOL. Splitting the males and females up is a good idea. Although I would feed the males, just not as often. And then just replace the old one with a new generation. I do wonder if there will be any challenges with the village mod and the 1.20. There were always some issues with each new update.
@@lauraslittleworlds I still occasionally wonder why we couldn't get it the house to work. Don't remember if you ever looked at it in Spectator Mode (/gm 3) to see if it was a water or cave/mob issue. Gerste hasn't updated the main VS Village mod since July 16, 2024--six months now. Not sure if it was because of that village we see at the end of the 1.20 intro video or not. The VS team obviously set up some villager behaviors in the updated code. I'm wanting to see some people head off to that village and see what it is about. I don't think it will be within the next few days because the player has to go through the Archive and return to the Treasure Hunter Trader they got the map from originally. So there are some Steps to be done to get to the new locations. People on a Multiplayer server might be able to speedrun to the new locations, but I'd hate to have to watch multiple (disjointed) streams or miss something important. We shall see! There has already been a 1.20.1 update. LOL If you're getting a cold, take care of yourself. There is a pretty bad one floating around!
Great reference!

`Thanks to the Scrap mod, all those broken lanterns in the Pipe Dungeon just need clear quartz chunks and they will be fixed. Most of them turn into Molybdochalkos Lanterns. There were a LOT of broken lanterns in that Dungeon!!! `Also, thanks to the Scrap mod, any crate or wooden basket full of pottery can be placed in the crafting squares and should turn out either food bowls or cooking pot. Might turn out a Crucible or a Fired Crock, but if it does, it's really rare. `Double-head Drifter is the highest tier Drifter and actually rare compared to the others. Nightmare Drifter is probably the close second to it. Your RNG (Random Number Generation) luck seems to have been against you with the Nightmare loot because I usually get a few items from them. `27:00 Jackpot!!! 38:00 I call those Plinths. There is a variety of styles, but I call them all Plinths because most of them seem to be decorative, but some do have a bit of loot under them. I especially like the ones that glow. For example, that one special ruin/treasure trove under the obsidian Stonehenge TT had a lot of lit plinths all over it.
I think you might be all caught up on the videos. I have a number of comments to read. But now it is my turn to be sick. Woke up today with no voice so I am glad I did a few videos ahead. I do hope the scrap mod is updated for 1.20.
`Did you ever put the torches on the torch holders outside the Cafe in Chesterfield? `Cellars are smaller than Rooms/Homes. It's a certain size like 6x6x6 or 7x7x7 or an equivalent amount of open space if it's not a square room. Rooms/Homes (and I think Greenhouses) are 14x14x14. `I've found that certain things like clay or peat won't mark on the map if they're still part of the same deposit, or if the marker would be to close to another marker. `36:15 Wow! Sacrificial! `I have to say that whoever set up that bird mod with the turkeys and pheasants, they set the turkey gobble sound like twice as loud as it should be! `45:05 Because of the exterior decor, I usually call those dungeons a "Pipe Dungeon". Because it has a lot of metal rusted pipes sticking out of it. Some seem to have more pipes than others.
I think there are torches in holders on the front of the cafe, but I think there is a holder on the side that has no torch. Cellars I generally go with 7x7x4. Might have to check the cafe cellar for size. Yes, the turkeys are very loud.
`Farmers will improve soil productivity. They might help shorten growing time, but that's unverified. Shepherds will fill troughs a little at a time. I think it's a matter of them checking to see if the troughs are empty every so many seconds.
