I’m Japanese and living in Japan. I see so many videos / articles on how the economy is collapsing. However, I’ve never had to worry about finding a job because there are just so many. You don’t need degrees for it either - most companies will teach you from scratch. Housing is cheap because they don’t increase in value. Getting a mortgage is easy and the interest rate is lower than 1%. Cars are cheap so I don’t need loans to get them, but I don’t even need one because I can use public transportation that’s cheap and reliable. The salary is lower than other developed countries, but it has never been an issue because the cost of living is much cheaper. There are all these countries in the west with ‘high GDP’ and ‘flourishing economy’ but what is the point when housing prices are unaffordable and people are struggling so much financially? Are we doing economically based on a set of metrics? Maybe not. But think the true metrics of a good economy is if people are able to afford to live comfortably.

So the moral of the story is that if your ¨allies¨ are F'ing up the economy don't shoot on your foot to save their butts because they will let you alone when you get in the same situation. Calling the Americans ¨allies¨ after what happened in WWII between them is a stretch but calling them like that after they passive aggressively forced them into a coercive measure to protect the American exports that was obviously going to bomb their exports and sofocate their economy is straight up madness, Japan has taken many abuse from the west, specially the US and they need to stand up, even Europe who stood proud in the past now are a lumber of meat being drag around and their politicians are making the same terrible decisions because, again Uncle Sam is in trouble and kindly suggested them to protect *their* economy. Imagine if Japan told to them to F off and fix their own problems, they'd probably have invaded Japan again or apply a storm of sanctions to Japanese exports with cheap excuses as reasons as like they like to do.

Ironically, these mistakes made by Japan has a lot of parallels made by other countries, though maybe not to the same degree, is definitely apparent. Corrupt capitalism between large corporations and the government, and making its own citizens pay for their faults is all too common among money countries that claim capitalist policies. It's not just Canada and Australia.

TL;DR: Japan has limited natural resources to export. Historically, Japan has had few natural resources such as ores, oil, or gold. There are accounts from the Edo period of people running into burning homes to save valuable items like iron nails, reflecting the scarcity of materials. Additionally, Japan's geography makes agriculture challenging, with about 70-80% of the country being mountainous or unsuitable for farming. Adding to these issues are Japan’s aging population and low birth rate, which strain the economy and social systems. Furthermore, Japan’s notoriously demanding work culture often drives skilled workers to seek opportunities abroad, exacerbating domestic labor shortages.

very good, excellent treatment of a complex subject in a 15minute window. Couple comments in support of the conclusions: Japanese labor system still depends on a pension system for retirement, hence the desire to keep less efficient business operational. Further, it's very difficult to change jobs in Japan (at least it was in the 1980's and 90's when I lived there), due to the way hiring processes work. Consequently, the labor force is not mobile (there is no 401K and very limited tax advantaged retirement savings ... correct me here if there is someone out there who knows more). Without a mobile work force where the labor force can move their retirement with them to new more efficient innovative companies, it becomes very challenging to let old inefficient businesses (especially if it's a very large company) fail. Politicians and corporate executives will need to face or answer to people and their families who lost their job without any retirement savings. Japan has had many opportunities to fix this, but their system of government requires 100% consensus of the Diet legislature to pass new laws and bills. Basically, nothing happens. Japan can and has adapted as well innovated in response to competition from Korea and China (you should do another video about what Japanese companies have done right to stay relevant in the global economy). Overall, the fault rests with the Japanese Government, the way the government operates (thank you General McArthur), and Japan's monetary policy missteps. These are my observations and experience: Lived in Japan in the 1980's, and I worked with Japanese companies for many years on product design and development (Sharp, Hitachi, and Sony) from late 1990s through 2008.

Canada was originally the most beautiful and richest G-d given gift to mankind. It was the genuine Garden of Eden. But then reality followed. The one truth that Canadians refuse to believe is that Canada is one of the most corrupt countries in the western world. This is not something that just happened. It has always been a reality. For years it has been controlled, and in fact was often beneficial. But this is the new world, and the corruption has become immense, not just here but throughout the world. Canadians have always enjoyed the self-delusion of moral superiority, especially towards the elephant to the South. But decades of stupid, corrupt and destructive governments have brought the day of reckoning. Whether or not their still is time to reverse this, I do not know. It breaks ones heart.

And as someone that has lived in Japan 20 years, yes this country is behind stuck in the past, and as soon as one leaves the big cities, the economic and population collapse is visible.
