Just are the facts

Geoff makes a good point that the authority of a Church which has thought about things for 2,000 years is to be taken more seriously than one person with a First Class degree in theology. But one of things about Pope Francis's pontificate is the way that he wants to act as though his pontificate is the only one of importance. Thus we have that thing about following "the recent magisterium" as if all the previous pointificates count for nothing. And we find that most of Pope Francis's documents mainly quote his other documents and rarely quote other Popes (except in a misleading way) and other Church documents.

I have watched umpteen episodes of "The Journey Home" and listened to many Evangelical pastors in the USA describing how they came to enter the Catholic Church. I have often wondered if such conversions occur in the UK. Well here's one, at least. Given that a major, defining belief of Evangelicals is justification by faith alone, it would have been interesting to hear how Geoff came to believe that the Catholic doctrine of justification is the correct interpretation off Scripture.

He allegedly went back to a gay life . Makes me think it's true when they say "you can't pray the gay away".

I think that Feser is excellent. That so much has to be said against the reigning insanity is frightening.

Though I personally found his relaxed attitude to the present pontificate a bit worrying I do applaud the fact that you were having a respectful dialogue and really agreed with Geoff about echo chambers on social media. Ever since Brexit it seems we almost never get people charitably conversing from differing viewpoints and this seems to apply as much in the Church as anywhere. It would be great if you could have somebody like Austen Ivereigh (sp?) on Catholic Unscripted. Although I'm pretty allergic to Michael Lofton's stuff he has at least invited Brian Holdsworth on to his show. We need more of that sort of thing.

One of the worst aspects of the new left, whether you call it wokeness, or whatever, is the use of manipulative statements, or memes. I must admit to being intimidated, because while disagreeing, I cannot always come up with the right argument. However, I have decided recently that I must address the manipulation when I see it, using reasoned argument and plain speaking. It is scary but necessary.

Redemptive suffering applied to the Mass, “contemporary” music, kitschy presiders: brilliant! I need that. In addition, I add two: preachy, woke intercessions and the synodal prayer that asks God to not let us do EXACTLY what PF and company are doing.

There is no such thing as racism. It’s a lefty term to shame whites from advocating for themselves. Dr feser is up to something. The church has never defined racism. It’s a new term of 75 years ago. Most of the pope’s. saints and the doctors of the church would be considered racism by some of their statements, and I’ve never seen where slavery was condemned by the church. Bishops owned slaves for cry eye.

'Racism' in the quasireligion of woke liberalism simply means anti-White.

I founded an apologetics apostolate in Nova Scotia called FAR180 to share evidence for God & Christianity (an acronym for faith and reason changing attitudes 180 degrees) Although we have some success with some parishes it is extremely frustrating when our offer is declined by others, especially when we offer everything for free! They know teens are exposed to porn, sex, alcohol drugs not to mention a gender ideology that tells them they can be a boy today, a girl tomorrow, and a boy again the next day, yet they feel evidence that Jesus was a real person might somehow be detrimental. Very discouraging... but we keep trying. I would appreciate anyone's feedback that could help us open doors. Thanks
