@gravemethod i started off with mizu hbg but it's a pain in the butt to hunt it solo so I thought of using something that locks on its head, without worrying about the tough skin(pre-enraged). Jho gl it is! And it worked pretty well!

I’m still trying to get my last Jho Saliva to reach level 10, lol. It’s not at all ideal, but I’ve managed to put together a maxed Mizu CB with max water and access to critical element with some critical eye. Sadly I can never break the head in solo, but if I’m lucky I can take one down.

Just a reminder that any gunlance for the most part does the same fixed damage for shelling. There are only a few main factors - shell type, grade level, artillery, and a few other skills that affect total damage like sneak attack. The amount of time it took me to get my jho gl to grade 10, I had 4 other gl at that level (bone, mizu, girro, magna)

​@@Jccl937 but Jho gives you one extra Level of Artillery, that's why it's the strongest GL for Shelling.

@@MHSlice you are correct that it is the strongest. I am just suggesting that the amount of time and effort may not be worth it for non gunlance main hunters. That last artillery (artillery 5) boost shell damage by 10% yet I can achieve the same damage by equipping one negrigante armor (artillery 4 + negrigante avidity 1) on a standard default gunlance typically build. I wouldn’t want someone to fully dedicate on nearly max out a weapon that can take them more than 6 months hunting one of the most elusive monster in the game when there is alternative options

@@kead6636 morphing around activates the skill morph boost if you have it equipped. It provides a good dmg boost for i think 10 or 15s.

@Darokuma most hits crit. The only thing I'm not sure is the final explosion from special attack and the mini phial explosions after every sword hit. I think it's worth making a crit build unless you're going for crit ferocity

@captainjimo yoyo its in the video haha. The phial bonus only affects the base value.

​@@shawnzyplays​oh, i somehow missed the 15% for power phial. And i listened to the video initially, so only now i see where you say element phial boosts element attack, there is the word base in brackets Also you didnt say/write if power phial affects attack boost or it's only weapon's base raw

Switch axe will be my main weapon from now. It’s very fun and rewarding for people that plays SA since PSP era

@reynellrodriguez5307 hmm what are you lacking in your sets now? Perhaps build to fix a problem that you have. E.g perhaps you have black diablos bow and small monsters (kulu, tzitzi) are an issue then build with those monsters in mind. If you just wanna mess around the weapon, then go for status weapons since you can use them for all monsters.

@shawnzyplays I have 2 builds for each elements. I just want the best for this weapon before I dive in. Would a tigrex build be fun? Or a Volvidon?

@reynellrodriguez5307 tigrex would work well with the new skills, morph boost and critical ferocity, if you can squeeze them in! Volvidon is generally a low tier monster so I don't expect it to be any good in terms of dmg. However, it should work well if you build towards a para support build

@@shawnzyplays All my other sets are geared toward the best damage. My princess bow is kinda in between. So a para build may be a good additon. The Tigrex mechanic is intriguing though.
