This is the most famous episode because of the silver collection brought by a family completely unawares of the quality of the collection.
My goodness the knitwear! I was in my 20s in this period but I don't remember fancy jumpers being so popular.
It's crazy to think that this programme was filmed 30 years ago - which was as old as The Beatles guitar was in the programme.
thank you for all your posts
Woman drags a monstrous Welsh sideboard to the show only to reply "mmm, possibly" to every perfectly explained fact given her by the experts? No thank you when he's finished, just a snotty "mmm hmm."
Did I understand this right??? Caroll was a reverend who liked little girls and wrote letters to them?
The days when the blue tables were either hexagonal or octagonal.
These titles were used until the BBC had a new logo 1997.
It's a heater portable. As well as a light.
Apparently that woman with the bodgy silver tried to stop this episode going to air because she thought it was worth 30 thousand quid.
At 36:42 the lady translates from german litterally. "Ein armer Tropf" means "a poor fella", so the poem translates "once I was a captain Köpenick, ruling with a glance, now I'm a poor fellow dancing on my head". I suppose it refers to the fact that the puppet can be put on its head.
The Brits are so lucky. They were a wealthy nation when furniture making developped to an art form, and had no destructive wars all over the country so those pieces could be saved and handed down for generations. Not so in continental Europe where people had to flee and leave bulky furniture behind. Sadly the generation today does not value having granny's buffet in their homes.
Annoyed I missed this, but glad to be able to watch now.! Many thanks again 👍
I don't know how I missed this one.! Many thanks again. Appreciated 👍
Why does everybody want to touch the damn thing?! Don't touch it! The oil from your fingers is ruining it!
Remember this day at the glades very well,!! We had no chance of showing our little Moorcroft Crocus Bowel, Very selective folks that were brought in from outside the area, Notice Hilda from the Horsefair" and Jack from the Broadwaters" and Ricky from the Rifle Range did not get a lookin, .
That bug picture at 7:40 is selling for £12,500
Just the most incredible silver collection!
The upper class English introduced whatever they wanted from abroad into England
That art nouveau poster was a dream
Thank you for the uploads. I'm so surprized how many really old items (18th century!) are in private possesions. Britain is very special that way.
The lady reminds me of ' miss Jones' from ' rising damp '
Why did he want a quick word with Hilary?
I'm still waiting to hear a Norfolk accent 😮
Greetings to you people of Wales..bless you all
Oscar Wilde had a wife and family, and not just male friends ...
A Rousseau with Provence direct from the painter with the same theme almost identical, but obviously better painted, was sold at Christie’s for 43.5 million dollars in 2023. So it would seem that this one was a fake! If you look at a genuine Rousseau you can see why he thought this was a fake. Very interesting tho!
i wouldn,t have given a quid for that painting, where was the full of light, that critic must have been drunk. Juhaptergee
21:21 the spoon talk is one of the most impressive displays of expertise I've ever seen on the AR
The plates are fantastic‼️‼️‼️
Thank you so veŕy much!
Hugh Scully says the Rugby League was formed in the George Hotel in 1865, it was 1895!!!!
The armor cod piece!!🤣🤣 I shouldn’t make fun of a man’s insecurities, but the comical unashamed bulbous feature just SCREAMS Henry VIII. A young & thin one of course.
I couls ait and watch these shows day after day - for weeks, but for the fact I must earn a living.
Rewatching because I didn’t pay attention the first time and I gotta ask… 27:00 What’s an antique anal sex toy doing on the mystery table at a show for kids? I’m kidding. 😅 I’m sure it has something to do with eggs. But it looks exactly like a butt plug and I can’t unsee it! 😂😂😂😂 Identical minus the wood-like material.
Is this is what is now John Mackintosh Hall?
No, Centra Halll, South District.
13 4/8th, yes measured in metric, what is it in the size it was made for?
What's the answer to the quiz question about the rug?
TIL that there is a difference between a clock and a timepiece and that is the exact sort of semantic pedantry that I live for
Did that appraiser actually say, that little bronze statue which opened, represented "the white slave trade"...?!?? .. "it's quite naughty"... you've got to be kidding me !!!! ...😮 .
Exciting to see that you're uploading again!
Good episode but not enough John Bly
Your channel is brilliant. Thank you so much.
Was stoked to see you post again!
Wow, how often does one person get two objects on the show?
The really wild show, blue peter, neighbours, oh god I went on a massive memory trip , I miss the 80s and 90s so much
Awesome! Really needed new (even though it’s old) AR content to watch
15:17 what do you think she puts in there occasionally?
Thanks! Great to see an AR legend like yourself still posting!
this is the horniest Antiques Roadshow comments section I've ever seen
