17:30 - This Sampson Mordan enamel sterling match safe vesta case is now worth a few thousand pounds. Similar one was sold at Sotheby’s in 2018 for 2,375 GBP.
Does anyone ever ask "Is that all???" after receiving their valuation. Sometimes I'm stunned when something from 1800s, rare or irreplaceable receives a value of around 100 pounds or less. I'm sure the UK visitors are too polite to ask such questions but I never heard it said in the US either...
For my fellow Americans who had trouble discerning the word "Sickert" at the end: Walter Richard Sickert RA RBA (31 May 1860 - 22 January 1942) was a British painter and printmaker who was a member of the Camden Town Group of Post-Impressionist artists in early 20th-century London. He was an important influence on distinctively British styles of avant-garde art in the mid- and late 20th century. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Walter_Sickert
Look closely. The presenters aren't lords or grandees, rather, they appear down on their luck, all the more impressed by a figure of, say, 800 for a trinket. Altogether, it's a rather sad, and illuminating program.
Thank you so much! Such Gems,! I feel so pevileged to be able to watch them here.

Loved the disappearing bottle trick. Tommy Cooper always got more laughs when his gags went wrong too. “Just like that”
Cherish this, when it's gone we'll be lesser persons.

Not you again. You're a legend in your own mind. And always criticizing others. How rich.
