Добавлен 7 апр 2015
Howdy, y'all. Thanks for visiting my channel. I'll be posting things about adventure motorcycle adventures, bikepacking, writing, photography, self-publishing, how to convince people to collaborate on your creative projects, and probably some stuff about how I have learned to cope with some challenges I have faced. If you like motorcycle travelling, join me!
My last name, Sturtevant means to move forward and to me, "Giddy Up" has the same intention and that's why my channel is called Giddy up Bike Adventures. What would you like to see a video about? How did I get to do portraits of Willie Nelson, Scott Weiland, and Lyle Lovett? How do I get to do what I want for a living? ( most of the time)
Please subscribe and like and all of your dreams will come true.

Adriatic Adventure Pt4 Bosnia to Budapest

I really didn't expect this. We rode from Slovenia, Croatia, Montenegro, Bosnia and finally onto Hungary by motorbikes and I was surprised by many things in Europe. This last day of riding has less exciting terrain but we land in a city of outstanding architectural significance and eat pork in every way possible. Giddy up!

This is part 2 of a series on our motorcycle adventure in Eastern Europe. This video covers Slovenia to Croatia. It also talks about how I had to first overcome a 20-year anxiety disorder that I struggled with. If you suffer from depression, anxiety, or substance abuse, please ask someone for help. I am not a therapist but happy to talk if you need to speak with someone who has made it through ...

Excellent life philosophy!
Great video 🇺🇲🍾🎉🇺🇲 What type of motorcycle do you have? Keep producing more videos
@@rosarioroberto5823 thanks for your compliment. We have 1 tenere, 2 Drz, 1 husky 250fe, one beta 500 and a crf 230. I have not made a penny with all of my videos so it is hard to find time/energy for making videos. I’m going to make a few more soon about traveling Vancouver island . Watch more of my videos and it might help me to monetize
Amen. My DRZ has a harsh duty schedule, in my opinion. I ride 15 miles to some dirt, do whatever and how much of whatever I want to do, which includes sliding, wheelies, small jumps, single track, dirt roads, grass, and sand, then ride 15 miles back. In 20,000 miles, I have only changed the oil and cared for the air filter. I wash it occasionally. I changed the chain and sprockets to try different gearing at 10k miles, but the old rear sprocket and chain were barely worn. The replacement sprocket (hybrid aluminum and steel) broke after 5000 miles, I put the original back on. I checked the valves at 15k as directed, they were fine. I have also changed the spark plug, though didn’t really need it. I fill it up for $6.00 every second ride. And the beat goes on.

Beautiful! Which campground is the one near the beach at 9:25?
It says the name just before at 9:00 marker
@@GIDDYUPADVENTURES got it. Thanks!

I’m making my list for my first trip on TAT (solo novice)(CRF300) NC--->west June-July. I’ll let the climate & degree of difficulty dictate my route. Great suggestions! I took 5 that I hadn’t thought of. Hope to see you out there!
Ya know, after riding a lot the last few years, I might add a tube of slime(not fix a flat) . Saved my butt last weekend
I like the old Arai XD3 on the shelf.. the xd3 was my first adventure helmet years ago.. mine is beat to hell and retired
Was hoping to see your 230L. The bike pictured is a 230F. They couldn't be more different. Hoping you'll edit the video title.
Got one between my dad and my brother. It’s been sitting around for a while and needs a little work. Just got a jeep and a bike rack so I’m looking forward to seeing some trails with this thing.
my guess is greece
I know right where you are. Been there before. Don’t worry, I won’t say where it is either
So nice to see you live the life you like and also have a partner who is sharing your interests!
Heavy??? *Laughs in Dr650*
I have a 2009 crf 230L and it’s been sitting for a long time. I’ve replaced the battery and spark plug aswell as emptying and cleaning the fuel tank the one thing I’m having trouble with is finding a reputable new carburetor that won’t break the bank
Do you have the original kehin carb? If so DO NOT GET RID OF IT. Go through it or have someone go through it because a dirty kehin runs way better than a clean china carb
I really appreciate the electrical tape on the levers, they work!! Thank you
Glad you liked the e-tape tip. My camping hacks video seems to get a lot of people’s interest because it has several they never thought of.
Actually it’s this oneruclips.net/video/4C5J9K61KNY/видео.htmlsi=0knb5dUEdSDYctyn
like for analogic beep
If that thing had a slightly larger motor, it would be better
Cool tip re taping levers! Hippo Hands are fantastic for their structure. I won a pair of softer and cuffed Klim bar muffs which are just as much a game changer and it’s nice that they cuff out the back drafting, but they do take a bit of care to slide your hand into when they are burdened down with snow/slushy buildup. You’re right about merino layers, always go for 100% blend when possible, not cheap but like you said will last forever. I bought the Smartwool ultralight long sleeves for summer, brilliant. I discovered SealSkinz tall socks and now rotate three pair. They are warm and waterproof. Like walk into a freezing brook in just the socks and your feet will remain dry. They feel like a soft weave neoprene to put on. I have ridden for several hours in -4C wet weather and feet stayed comfortable. Still wear merino socks around camp and inside sleeping bag. SealSkinz makes a waterproof insulated glove that is great for wet trail riding but having not been designed for falls at speed (I think they are for extreme weather sports and mountain biking) they are toasty warm in winter, also never let water in, but will likely shred in a dry asphalt fall.
Loving your videos; your rides are captivating. 🌄 How about shedding light on your fatigue management techniques and fitness practices during long motorcycle trips? Excited to know!
I was so exhausted on this trip because my wife rides so fast on pavement I was just trying to catch up most of the time. Thanks for your kind words. I have been thinking of doing a video on fitness, but I’m not that fit. Also, I put so much effort into my channel and came really close to monetizing but moved my house and got busy doing other things.
She is from Hungary?
I know I'm too late but Belgium?
Hungary
Are you on the Honda CRF 230L or another bike? I haven't seen a 230L with a windshield so it got me wondering.
That’s my Drz
Great video. Great honesty. Awesome motorcycle. And yes 40hrs anywhere bites. Sorry gotta go break is over.
You get it! No leech-like xareer to foster and grow and foist on others. I am looking at DRZ400 and himalayans at the moment. Seems the DRZ is more of a cockroach and a proven machine but both have a fanatical community around them.
"She let me buy..." ??!!! what is going on here. Your wife Let You????? Sounds more like she's your Mommy.
lol what lame comment mister!
Who cares lol that’s their dynamic
On the TAT, how did the DRZ handle the higher altitudes? I enjoy your videos.
Perfectly. Stock everything . The only rider who had trouble in our group was the one who re jetted for elevation
she is Polish - from Poland
Great hacks, thank you !
very cool, well done message. By the way, if giddy up did multiday Oregon dualsport tours I'd sign up for sure.
I rode one from Mount Vernon Washington to Portland Oregon and back once in a day. About a 500 mile trip on the interstate. 6th gear and fuel injection and Suzuki would sell a billion more of them..
It would require a ground up build to meet emissions regs. Think crf450l at like $10k,
How come Kawasaki was able to do it with the KLR then??@@TommyNitro
Because the KLR was minimally changed, I suppose. Only thing they really changed was the fuel injection. No retooling of the factory. Same transmission. Beefier swing arm. Heavier weight. What most people want in the DRZ is light weight, 6 gears, fuel injection, improved suspension, etc. It would lose its grandfathered status. And those major changes come with costs. @@gosolobox
I just picked one up with 20000 very abused miles, still have the Gen 1 acct... Goooo drwezzer🛵☁️☁️☁️🥃
18 years ago when I left the Navy I spent a few weeks camping in various areas. The park service guy let me into this area even though it was closed for the season and I spent almost 4 days in the area all by myself. It's weird how quiet it was just some birds and the creeking old growths in the wind.
I'm glad you like it but it's way to heavy for me, it's makes an awful reverberation when I rev on my FE350, four other helmets don't do that. The visor peak is very buffeting for me. So yeah not everyone thinks it's a great helmet. On the positive side it is the most well made build quality I have ever seen and it fits my head very well. If Arai ever came out with a carbon model with an updated peak I would check it out.
Yeah, it’s a little heavy. I’d be a fan of a carbon xd helmet too
@GIDDYUPADVENTURES the ECE version weights only 1560g in size L...available in Europe and I got one and will never look somewhere else...my long oval headshape suffered with all other helmets (except Arai Signet Q) and this is the only dual sport helmet that fits my head
Italiana?
As a oldster who's going to buy one last bike, we'll, maybe two, I can't wait for the Tdub to show up. Thanks for the vid.
What book do you recommend?
I'm going this summer!
HUNGARIAN!!!
You and your wife are definitely in a different class (your words in another vid). I'm sure she has never gone to the store in shorts, sandles, and socks of different colors and heights. Heck, she probably refuses to go to the store with you like that! LOL. I'm still laughing about it.
I really empathize how you presented that. Wonderful!!!
Glad you enjoyed. There’s several videos on my channel about getting over my fears and a book if you’re interested.
@@GIDDYUPADVENTURES : So sad to experience that your book will not ship to Denmark.
The book can ship to Europe it about $30 usd plus the cost of book. We could arrange through my website which is book title dot com
I'm sharing this with my friend who lives in Georgia. I hope it will entice him to come visit
I know this is an old video but i have to chime in... "Zip lock bags". Large and small
What year is this bike ? I am looking at a 2004 DRZ 400 S in California.
2008. But it hasn’t changed much in 20 years
I spend a lot of time in the area and will take more dual sport rides around the area to find more cool stuff.
Your friend is from Hungary…
How do you think it would be to bicycle? Thank you.
There's a different one for bikes but I do think Sarah Swallow did this on a bike. Google her name and trans America trail.
It looks pretty cool to me
I get alot of compliments on my Yamaha tw
Love my DRZ. Been thee best bike i have ever owned. Over 50,000 miles and counting.
That’s a lot of miles!!
