Megadimension Neptunia VII But I Can't BUY ANYTHING?! | BROKEdimension Neptunia Part 2
Guess who's back? Back to Nep? Coming at you with another video where I glance at the "Shop" tab with sadness in my eyes and beat the game on a limited number of visits to the store!
This time, I begin my journey through the Hyper Dimension Arc, starting with two of the four stories featured within this middle arc! Will I press on as I continuously weigh myself down with my copious bags of cash? Or will the overload of cash be what causes my demise, leaving Gamindustri without Goddesses in the rewritten chaos?

Oh wow, another Neptunia video, would you look at that. Well, considering the two previous Neptunia videos got relatively popular, might as well keep the train going! This time, I'm doing a challenge run of Megadimension Neptunia VII! What exactly is this challenge run, though? Well, keep watching and you'll come to learn what the title means! Ready to see what sort of surprises await me in thi...

We're back for Part 2, baby! I'm genuinely shocked by the amount of attention and positive reception Part 1 received. I guess the algorithm took a liking to my rambling about the cute pink-haired pudding girl, eh? But seriously, it really warms my heart knowing so many of you enjoyed Part 1, so I hope Part 2 leaves you with an even more satisfied feeling! In this video - the second of two parts...

Hyperdimension Neptunia is my favorite series of all time (surprise, surprise), and multiple aspects about it have kept me drawn to it for such a long time. However, one such aspect that I've rarely seen in-depth discussion on is the character writing, particularly Neptune's. In this video - the first of two parts - I explain Neptune's characterization on a surface level, as well as discuss her...

It's the end of the road, everyone. Well, we've made it; we've reached the end of Megadimension Neptunia VII! We close the game out with the Revival Ending and everything that happens in there, as well as a conclusion message from yours truly. This is the last video of this series, so I tried my best to make it special. Going through this game yet again and being able to share all of my favorit...

Well, we're nearly at the finale. . .and it makes me so sad that it's already almost over. Aren't you upset too, viewer? We continue with our journey through the Heart Dimension arc, and we now reached our fork in the road! Here, we get a choice between two routes: the Heart Dimension route, and the Hyper Dimension route. Each route has different cutscenes, encounters, and their own out-of-cont...

As Neptune would say. . .it's time for the climax of this plot! With the second arc of VII wrapped up, we now begin our journey into the final lap of this game: the third arc, the Heart Dimension arc. An arc that, while pretty clearly a tad rushed in some areas, overall offers some of the most emotional and highest-stakes moments of the whole series, and to me, wraps up this game quite nicely. ...
Megadimension Neptunia VII Out of Context! | #6 - Vert's Story + Arc Finale

Okay, I'm actually starting to run out of things to put at the top of these descriptions. . . We move on to the last of the four stories and take a quick break in Leanbox for Vert's story. This is, in my opinion, the weakest of the four stories and is easily my least favorite. Vert is a character I don't particularly like that much, and having Nepgear join her accentuates that a tad bit. S-Sha ...

I'm not sure what else to put at the top of these descriptions. Uh. . .Nepu-Nepu? Stepping our way into the second half of the Hyper Dimension Arc, we make ourselves at home in Lowee and tackle Blanc's story next! This is, personally speaking, my second favorite story, after Neptune's. It has some pretty charming writing, a great dynamic between Blanc and C-Sha, as well as some fun interactions...

You know the deal by now, so let's just cut right to the chase, shall we? Continuing along with the Hyper Dimension Arc, we pay a visit to Lastation as we go through Noire's story and see what is in store for our favorite twin-tailed Goddess. I find this to be on the weaker half of the stories, personally. As much as I love Noire, I find K-Sha to be a bit of a. . .strange, and oddly unsatisfyin...

Megadimension Neptunia VII is. . .actually, we're already three videos into this, you should get the gist by now. This time, we're starting the Hyper Dimension Arc! And what better way to kick it off than with the story of the series' main character, Neptune? Personally speaking, this is my favorite story of the four. And I'm not saying that entirely because of Neptune bias. I just think it's r...

Never played a Neptunia game before, but I do love me a good challenge run!
"Best girl Neptune" Me: (dislikes the video) But seriously, nothing wrong with Neptune, I just like a good handful of others more, including Nepgear.
I think your points prove what Neptune is a much better person than it initially appears, not a better written character. She is both, dont get me wrong, but dissecting the writing is a bit more... cynical, i suppose. She is a well-written character because she serves her role in the story near flawlessly. In the same way, a character opposite of her, while being a bad person, also could be well-written
I've played through all the Neptunia games (except the new Dogoo game) and even though I know how bad Nep is in 'Victory' its still feels like she wasn't really that bad. Funny thing is, I know she was! I was even surprised how cruel Nep was in 'Victory'.
I actually think the traits from Victory are because of Plutia/Iris Heart Plutia/Iris Heart started to poke fun at Nepgear and Neptune (Scared of Iris Heart) caved and joined in.
Kind of sounded like YOU short circuited there for a moment when talking about Histoire short circuiting
How about Neptunia Nuzlock challenge during new game+ I call the neplock and if a character dies in battle they can't be use for the rest of the game unless you make a rule that they can be brought back
A genuine nuzlocke sounds like fun, but also too big of a challenge; your party member count is a precious resource before the climax of Arc 2, so I don't know if I'm gonna try that
@Prox1matic It plus it if they faith yes the game being them back but they are still dead by the rules of the Nuzlocking
Wow! Just as I was busy writing, this just popped up, and right when RIders vs. Dogoo has it's Steam and Switch announcement, too! (fingers crossed for Game Maker) Nothing much to say for the first half, other than this is the relative calm before the storm that is the other stories in this arc (where ALL their major bosses are fought AT THE END OF THEIR ROUTES!) Except the part where Noire starts off having to sneak around instead of going in HDD's blazing is pretty much a setup (debatable if it's good) for the Gold Third in charge of her nation (it's not just the M-Gear). 20:33-21:42 - And you'll probably be retrying this fight, forever and ever and ever and ev---WHOA, you're done! Dang, you should try your luck on K-sha's Pachinko Centers then!
I think the writing for Neptune in MDNV2 is because it's how she was mostly portrayed in the Neptunia Anime.
I disagree; if Neptune in VII was supposed to be written in the spirit of how she was written in HDN: The Animation, then I think they would have given her more somber and emotional moments rather than simply sprinkling it in throughout the game - most notably, in the Ascension Ending where she breaks down entirely. They evidently didn't do that here, or I would have talked about them more. The anime might have had an *influence* on their decision regarding the tonal shift from Victory to VII, but I don't think it's plausible to say it's the reason why Neptune's writing is the way it is in VII. -I don't like Neptune's anime version either way, I think her whole turmoil involving Peashy is super forced and really should have been built up earlier. I know that it's only a 13-episode anime, but at the same time, I'd rather have something span an entire short anime instead of being forced upon me in the last few relevant episodes.-
Video titles like this one always give me a giggle as they assume that the audience starts off with a negative opinion by default. If the writing of the series starting with the second game were not actually good (at least in some spots), the series would have failed before it got started.
I have to add, I think that a good addition to her writing is with Re;Birth 1. She is shown as being quite selfless there, to the point she gives up her memories for the sake of her friends. The opening of Sisters vs Sisters also shows that well, with her putting herself at risk so others can escape.
Re;Birth 1's Neptune is a different Neptune, and isn't related to the canon one that I talk about in the video, so there's no reason for me to talk about RB;1 Nep. As for Sisters VS Sisters, yeah you have a bit of a point; however, Sisters VS Sisters also dialed back her character once again, with much of her screen-time spent being her regular, bubbly and joke cracking self rather than what we see in VII. I focused on VII in the video for that exact reason.
@@Prox1matic Well there are similarities between each, that's why I brought up Re;Birth 1. Sisters vs Sisters, I haven't gotten too far yet, but I noticed that at the start. It does seem worthwhile to address spinoffs and such to me, then you can compare to mainline games. Like if it's true the CPUs become harem girls in Producing Perfection, then can rag on them for that.
I wasn't even slightly surprised by Neptune's dream, it just made sense to me.
Maybe Neptune’s characterization were based on how SEGA was, considering she was based off SEGA SEGA lack of active hardware (post Dreamcast) could be why Neptune was considered a lazy goddess Furthermore, Neptune showering care to her citizens more than herself could be reflected on how SEGA was still pushed to games a tried to make them good quality (especially in recent with the Persona, Yakuza and Sonic series) to show that SEGA still cares about their fans This stuff is always on the back of my mind since Neptunia in general is an analogy for the gaming industry, so stuff like Neptune’s attitude could be how SEGA was at the time the when the game was in development and such Kinda like how Nepgear in SvS expressed how they don’t make consoles anymore since SEGA fell off from the console war (a heart breaking fact to hear honestly when it’s in-universe)
I really wish the games would focus more on Neptune as a protagonist. I don’t hate Nepgear, but it does bother me that Neptune has to be brought down just so Nepgear could be hyped up, with mk2, the third arc of Megadimension, and Sisters vs Sisters.
Neptunia is still one of my favourite series tbh.
6:30 funny enough that was my though of Neptune at the time when I was finally playing the games instead of watching let’s plays of the series, though it had to do with a (very dark) mindset I had at the time and after a while and looking into her more and understanding her more…. It was just like looking at a mirror, fast forward Neptune has forever been my favorite and one I’d unironically call my Waifu XD
NEPTUNIA IN 2025 YAY :D Also blanc doesnt JUST want a “larger chest” (Urgh-), she wants people to not mock her, its an insecurity rather than something perverted or selfish I also like that neptune still HAS flaws, she’s lazy and ditzy, but she’s not self destructive, selfish, or finger pointy anymore, and has her great perks!
Even if the underlying meaning to Blanc's dream was that she didn't want to be mocked for her small chest anymore, the fact of the matter is that it *still* ties back to her wanting a bigger chest - bigger than Vert's, as she implies in the dream. So whichever way you put it, the conclusion is still the same: she wants boobs.
Actually they're not really trying to separate Neptune from Purple Heart Human Neptune's personality is a Fabricated Personality she created to keep people at ease. While her true self is a Gaurdian The HDD form is actually been referenced several times to be based on what is in the Heart of a Goddess. Noire; Shows more Confidence as Black Heart when she's more Socially Inept as her Human self. Black Heart is there for an instance of the Goddess trying to have a personality that will Protect their people. For instance, the HDD is the part of them they Keep for Battle mainly because it puts a Mental strain on them to keep up that Personality. Neptune; Acts stupid but she actually isn't at all. Her actual intelligence is shown when she's either using her "Purple Heart" personality in Human form or when she's actually Transformed. Note: in the anime, There is a scene where Neptune lands still in the form of Purple Heart but she SPEAKS as Neptune before even reverting.
Neptune and the franchise asna whole is in my opinion a good example of how good character writing elevates a series. Like I'm not saying they have the best plot or character development. They don't. But in my opinion neptune and her friends are just really likeable characters who are interesting and funny to watch beyond just being eye candy.
Honestly i think this video was great. Nep is always a great protag and i will say the anime versoon was a good mix of all her version. She goes from a slacker to a somewhat competent goddess.
Neptunia in 2025??? This is peak content
Even her good & caring nature also shows in manga, like when taking care of candidates that turned into babies. Even though the mess is caused by her. Or when Histy got sick.
I miss peak 2015 Neptunia. I can't believe we haven't had a mainline game in 10 years.
I had kind of forgotten about that beautiful oxymoronic part what the dreams. That part gives some actual depth to Neptune's character because it shows a bit about her true nature under all of the childishnees. There's also a really nice moment (from a storytelling perspective) where Nepsy makes "me" cry and I think it's nice because of the way it shows her flaws. She's definitely more useful as a hero by VII but the way she manages to upset "me" shows she still has those traits of being clueless and somewhat stupid. It's perfect for this game since it directly contradicts what they are up aganist, Kurome's side is the total opposite to Nepsy and is very intelligent and calculating when it comes to the big players (that being Kurome and Croire) and that slip in judgement from Nepsy is immediately used as ammunition to fire back and weaken "my" resolve. It's made even worse by the fact that in this situation what Nepsy saye is 100% correct, Uzume is in a sense the fake and she knows that so this is like a nuke to her resolve and if you choose the Heart Dimension route when the game splits you get to see exactly why it's so effective against Red Uzume in particular. You did convince me that Nepsy is better written than I immediately give her credit for. I don't like her at all but nonetheless there are things about her mentioned in here that I'm quick to overlook and that ideally I shouldn't be overlooking.
I don't really like heroes at all but I particularly dislike Nepsy because she consistently shows she's clueless and just not very intelligent overall. Having a hero that is both stupid and oblivious just doesn't do it for me, dumb and obvious are not what I'd call heroic traits. She also frequently compromises the positions of the rest of the characters and undoubtedly worsens their situations which I can't get behind being a sensible trait for one of the main protagonists of the series. It didn't come across to me as a useful plot device it just came across as being downright stupid on the part of the writers. I can't hate her for how she in in rebirth 3 or victory since both of those are basically the convention where all the idiots of gamindusri for some reason take the front and centre of the stage. Sadly though nobody in the Neptunia series has been getting very good anything as of late. Spinoffs are simp bait and have undoubtedly damaged the community and consequently people's interest in the series and nothing new in the mainline has released for nearly a decade. She undergoes some kind of improvement in VII with the way she behaves and her general attitude towards being a leader/hero but in all fairness the opposition is also several octaves above what it was previously so for me it is more just a case of the bare minimum to ensure her actually being a main character still makes some sense in the story, she has afterall got to win somehow and she's not going to be able to do that in sensible of rational storyline if she continues the way she is from the previous games. There are no character debates anymore because every ****** where is filled with horndogs and that isn't helped by the fact the whole series has pretty much been left to stagnate.
My view of Purple Heart is that she acually is a lot more like Neptune then poeple think. Ore more precise, Neptune could act like Purple Heart, she just delibertly chooses not to, after all Neptune is copying Purple Hearts personality in the prologue of Rebirth 3 the entire time without issue, so I do think there a lot more alike then poeple think. Neptune just delibertly keeps her serious side reserved fore her HDD when it is genuenly needed fore her to be serious.
Neptune wasnt the only one misshandeld in Victory. I genuenly think the Ultra Dimension Counterparts are some of the worst members of Neptunias cast, ESPECLEY Ultra Noire, who comes across as a total selfish bitch, wich is in stark contrast to the extremly Selfless Hyper Noire. I basicley never get the impression any of the Ultra CPUs are friends and the only reason they arent at war with each other is there mutual fear of Iris Heart.
When you said that dark purple most powerful attack is like the spirit bomb you are incorrect it's more like Beerus's sphere of destruction.
I'm more than ready to go on another adventure with Nep again.
I don't disagree. Neptune is not waifu material the way that the others are, but in the "would I like to drink a beer with this character?" or "would I like to do a sketch comedy act with this character reflected in a mirror?" she shines. As does the series as a whole, even in the rough spots.
Neptune/Purple Heart is my waifu, has been for over a year now. In all my years of having affections for fictional characters shes the most attractive by far.
If you seen the gaming News about Sega. Apparently, it seems Neptune won't be a fictional Console inspiration anymore.
I played VIIR so now i'm excited to try the original game maybe i'll do the same challenge as you
Honestly... Knowing all this makes the ending where Uzume doesn't survive all the more heartbreaking. Neptune wants the happy ending for all. And when that doesn't happen. She's devastated. That wailing cry at the end sticks with me because that's the one time where we Neptune loses it. It's so out of character in a good way.
We need more analytical and discuss type of content that discusses the details of the charm this franchise has , that’s what why I liked your previous video but I understand the hard process behind it
Absolutely the franchise needs way more support!
20:49 Who's that faint-sounding guy with the coloniser accent in the background? Sounds familiar. 🤔
If Neptune used a guitar she would be Nep Tuning
Impeccable pun
Genius
Gotta say, i love this new style of challenge that you're making. Please do more other characters!
Having watched both videos, it's kind of the reason why I still criticize Victory for how poorly written Neptune was and it was by Game Maker R:Evolution was when I realized it wasn't the fact it was light hearted, but how very mean-spirited the game actually was. Like you could say that it was due to the mk2 having mixed reception by fans, but how they decided to do was (like you said before) very poorly executed in my opinion. I think one thing to add is Sisters vs Sisters has certain cases where Neptune can be serious at times with the main example I would always bring up is when Neptune tells Noire how Nepgear should face it on her own. The context behind that particular line, while I will not say since I don't think everyone has played Sisters vs Sisters, tells that while she still the happy go-lucky girl, knows that it's something that even she needs to be mature about.
Hey look! I'm in the video! Wowee! 10:40 - It seems like that for a while, but then later fights like these just devolves into SP Spam City. One thing that could make these more interesting is having the giant boss get closer to perform attacks. That way, close-range attacks are still possible, and it can be used as a tell when the giant boss is about to perform a big attack later, letting you ready your defenses. 21:10 - I guess this Arfoire came from my Human-Only Conquest Run and learned the most important lesson the----and she's transformed again...*sighs* 24:10 - Haha! Histy would say that! Guess Arsnore still hasn't learned from her mistakes...(Also, you should highlight a bit about how annoying Knockback is, especially for your low-movement characters) 24:17 - I'd say take the reprieve from these bosses. Every bit of relief before the next major encounter is always welcome in my opinion. 26:21 - That HP...Histy would be proud! So far, your video's pretty on-point! Good work! This part's pretty straightforward for the most part, but I feel the next arc's gonna be full of pain and suffering (since I believe almost ALL the major bosses for nearly every route is at the TAIL END of their paths (Neptune's an exception)! Blanc even has only ONE Major Boss on her route!)
Hopefully you'll do a follow up on at least one character analysis specifically for Noire.
Post-upload comment just to add onto what I said about not pursuing the Revival Ending at 2:57: Besides the fact that I didn't feel like trying to meet the requirements in Arc 2 for the Revival Ending, the restrictions I placed upon myself for this challenge would have made getting the Revival Ending practically impossible in the first place, due to the Shares being a part of the criteria, which can only be increased by: - Public Relations - Or Quests Both of which I purposefully banned in this challenge for reasons besides the Shares.
Wonderfully done
Very interesting and well-written pair of videos. And yeah, even if we disregard the trainwreck that was _Victory,_ Neptune is definitely a deeper character than people may give her credit for, when one looks beyond the surface level "slacker Deadpool" shtick. And while I may not personally agree with some of the creative choices made in regards to Neptune's character in the transition from _HDN1_ to _mk2,_ I do understand _why_ the writers probably felt they needed to make these changes (for starters, HND1 was _very_ bleak and somber in tone, compared to the rest of the series, so making Neptune more cheerful and optimistic was a good start), and I can understand why Neptune is many people's favorite character and one of the most popular characters in the series.
Purple Heart actually does have Neptune like moments **Caugh** Her "seduction" attack on Steamax **Cough**
Gotta watch the second part yet since this got recommended randomly to me. But I'll say it now, the writing of the characters has nosedived with each entry, and I say it as someone that has been a fan for more than a decade already. The best written character in the whole series I'd argue is Noire in the first game, and ONLY the first game, same goes with almost every other member of the godesses. After that, they have been getting progressively flatter in terms of writing, to a point that in the latest iterations they are just a shell that acts the most mainstream (it's not the word that I'm searching but english is not my primary language) trait of their character archetype. In some ways, is something akin to Rebuild of Eva 2, where the story was suppossed to be a representation of how the fans described it after years instead of the original tone. Watching Neptune in some spin-offs be relegated to a character that only says "I'm the protagonits!, Pudding! Arboire" and nothing less coming from Superdimension's dimension Neptune makes it more obvious. Same with Noire, now just being a joke friendless tsundere after her amazing character arc in 1. And yes, I know I'm talking about their Superdimension versions and no the Hyperdimension version that represent most of the games, but maybe that's a good reason to already ditch that dimension and start from scratch.
My favorite characters happen to be Uni, Nepgear, and Noire... and the manga version of Blanc, who is usually way more chill than her game counterpart
I've only ever heard of this series of games, but this video (or rather part 1) showed up in my recommended recently. Maybe I'll give the games a try after seeing this.
Worth noting that IF International localized VII, NIS America was dropped. _Can't imagine_ why that was... (Producing Perfection was also the only spinoff NIS America localized and that one is still stuck in Vita jail while everything else has been ported to various platforms, with PC ports being the most consistent across the board (though the IF and Compile Heart crossover game MegaMiracle Force is also still mobile-exclusive and apparently never got localized))
Is it accurate that Producing Perfection turned the CPUs into harem girls?
5:22 They say pudding but only ever show flan. Just like Momotaros from Kamen Rider Den-O in Imagin Anime and later on, in a crossover movie where someone somehow summoned the time traveling train, Den-Liner by holding up a cup of flan to lure Momotaros into arriving. Ore, sanjo? More like "Ore, sanjo... Purin-yō!"
It's japanese pudding, not flan. Pudding, flan, custard will be different and mean different things in many part of the world. Just like dumplings, variations of them exist all around the world, but each culture has their own spin on idea of "dough with filling inside".
