One of the race laps at Le Mans Classic 2008 for this winning car. Grid 3. Car:: Saab 93 B built as Le Mans 1959 edition. Two stroke 3 cylinder 750 cc, Top speed 177,5 km/h. Motor prepared and tuned by XP Engineering solutions, Sweden. That’s a PROPER engine sound! Not a ”designed sound” as in many modern performance cars.

I’d love to see more of the car- some pictures would be great, and some more specs; how much does it weigh? What about the exhaust system- just a regular style manifold, or individual headers? Has anyone ever tried expansion chambers on a SAAB two-stroke??? What a great sound!

I was looking for a two-stroke engine to fit into a Frisky family three, and found a 800cc DKW engine which I tuned gas-flowed etc to 130 hp it did 125 mph in a straight line. I used an Albion gearbox chain drive to the rear wheel. It lasted 6 1/2 years lots of fun.

Clutch likes to slip at high rpm if you freewheel
@@johanengqvist4333 I searched freewheel on wikipedia and I think now I get it. It seems that on two stroke engines the clutch slips when the gas pedal is not pressed to prevent engine damage from running at high rpm with no lubrification.
@@amunako Basically a Saab has two clutch systems, regular clutch and the freewheel. Sometimes if you rev high and engage the clutch, the freewheel can slip and not engage properly. It feels kind of like driving with a bad clutch.

+Alexandre Cimon Wankel engines are in general two strokes too, so it isn't odd that this car sounds similiar
Egentligen skulle SAAB ha använt denna motor i den Norska versionen av JAS 39 Gripen. Men eftersom norrbaggarna istället valde ett amerikanskt reaplan så har SAAB lagt detta motoralternativ i malpåse..... :-)

Wow! A 1959, 93 F, light grey was my very first car. Only 38 hp though, but this brings me back to those crazy, fantastic days. Thanks for sharing!
