Wednesday at Wakefield XC MTB Race #2 Men's Masters 40-49, 2 Laps. Placed 7/26 in age group, 11/67 overall. Race #2 at Wakefield was a good one. Temps were warm in the sun but in the shade it was good. It was in the low 90's but dropped to mid 80's by time we were rolling. Made a 90 second improvement over Race #1 so I am happy. Alot of that is just the first climb and getting ahead of the wave...

My 2nd year at DCXC at Schaefer Farm and I placed 8th. The field was fast this year and they made some changes to the 2nd lap that made the race 2-3 mins shorter but then did the whoops all the way down for more fun. Its a racetrack as some has said because its so fast and if you don't have the sustain, you are not going to be able to keep up with the pack. That was the case for me where at the...

Weather was great at the DCXC race at Schaefer farm. The trail conditions were awesome and pace was good. For some reason I was not 100% after the the hard start and it hit me hard 20 mins into the race. I kept a decent pace but I could not keep up with the peloton once we hit that long climb to the farm. They got a 20second gap and it just kept growing. In the end I ended up in 8th place and f...

    • @ShaneXCS

      His Ripmo AF has been running great with no issues. With a different Wheelset he was doing XC races and doing well. The DVO shock requires a psi check before each ride but other than that the bike has been solid. For my carbon Ripmo, it has held up very well and has hit everything I want to hit with no issues. The older X2 shock had to get replaced under warranty as it was a known issue from Fox. It was turned around within 3 weeks. The Bike Yoke dropper isn’t working as well but I’m waiting for a window to take it in for warranty work. The rear Ibis S35 carbon wheel broke at the bike park and is covered under warranty, less shipping and handling. The wheel rebuild is your cost but they send you a rim. Other than that, the frame has been good and customer service has been good. Would I buy it again, yes. It just does it all well. Climbs well and descends well.

      @ShaneXCS 4 месяца назад

      I'm going to give it a try. I think the tings were more the tire just on the roots than an actual hit. These are carbon wheels so I was more reluctant to run low pressures. LOL. Thanks for the upload. I was the guy you were chasing for the last couple of laps. Nice job closing down the gaps on the single track, looks like I need to do some work on those sections! Hope you don't mind a little video tip. If you upload to youtube in 4K, you get a better codec from youtube which ends up with fewer motion artifacts (it ends up looking more like what you see on your own computer before upload). You don't even have to record it in 4K, you can just upconvert when editing the video (although recording in 4K works too).

    For how well it descends and soaks up bigger drops, I was pretty impressed with the climbing efficiency of the ripmo I rented. It felt like a smaller and lighter bike than it was. I still prefer my lighter 140/130 Stumpjumper for the local trails though. I would like to have something in-between that and my heavy 170mm park bike.

    • @ShaneXCS
      @ShaneXCS 5 месяцев назад

      For sure on the lighter Stumpy for most trails. The big bike is rather overkill but damn if the Ripmo doesn’t pedal so damn good. Throw some XC tires on it and you will be shocked how well it moves. I even did a 20%/15% sag for front/rear and pedaling was even more crazy. Even did XC races with it that way and was shocking people.

      Sadly the great deal is over but the new Epic 8 is really this bike but better. If you get the Epic 8 Evo, get a 120mm fork, and sell the stock 130mm fork, you will have a great XC/trail bike.
