Watched your video last night after about a week of trying to learn how to do this for speaking Welsh (I am 65 and wrote myself off from ever being able to do it when I was about 10 and my "friends" took the mickey out of me because I couldn't.) I think the key for me was when you said to let the air go past the relaxed tongue placed in the correct position and that I didn't need to do anything else with my tongue (I had no problem with the other r). Your comparison with the flag blowing was very helpful. I did this for about 10 minutes with little result, but I think imagining I was going to produce the correct sound helped me and suddenly my tongue was vibrating! I then started trying to purr like a cat and did that over and over, then started saying words like perro, marrone etc again and again. My tongue is definitely vibrating now and I am definitely making a sound I have never been able to make. However, I am not sure the tip is flapping properly as I do not get exactly the same sound as you do and I notice I can only do it voiced-not unvoiced. I shall keep practising!😁 Thank you for this extremely helpful video.

Professor, if your objective is growing your YT channel and footprint, pairing with QrooPaul was a great idea. He's on fire, more fluent and technically precise than a native speaker, and well on his way. However, if your objective is actually TEACHING those of us who are not fluent in Spanish or don't know the language at all, how to speak it, you'd be better off following the techniques used on the Learn Spanish channel. (I believe the Professor is a British guy named Martin). There is a huge difference between telling people what you know by talking nonstop, and actually teaching a student a concept that they effectively learn, and are able to put to use in real life. Qroo has awesome knowledge. Learn Spanish knows how to teach. Teaching takes time, effort and patience. Imagine trying to learn Cantonese Chinese or Polish, from someone who just rattles off a bunch of phrases and concepts but never takes the time to structure those lessons in a way that allows what they are telling you to take root. You'd never learn either of those languages, and you'd probably stop trying. Please, go for quality, not quantity, in your attempts to instruct us in how to speak Spanish.

Great interview, Alejandro. I agree with Paul that learning grammar is important for two reasons. First, it gives you the "blueprint" as he said. Like any language, there are concepts in Spanish that are hard to grasp at first (redundant pronouns is a tough one, for example). Second, when you study grammar you will learn new words and build your vocabulary. Just this morning I was working on some grammar and I realized that I did not know the word "sharp" in Spanish.
