I changed to lithium battery on my 2008 ezgo cart, also put in charger and changed the external plug to regular three prong plug, cart will not move, what am I missing?
Did you power up the reed switch?
Many of these look like the Relion batteries I have and have been happy with. It obvious that the pricepoint is improving. The main thing for preformance is the MAX amps it can push with out shutting down for big motors and hills. I just wonder how many of these are coming from the same facility and rebranded.
Good point John…long time no talk😎
Big battery and Vatrer I'm sure are quality batteries, however, they are on the pricier end. The 2 small 30 ah batteries I've never heard of. 2024 was the year of the invasion of lithium options. While placing a few in my ebay cart, I would get offers on those from the sellers, dropping the price by several dollars every few days. I settled withe DC House 48 volt 100ah to replace my Trogan lead acid bank. There are not as many videos online about them, however, the ones that are there, they are quite positive and favorable. It's too cold here now but will install if we get a warm up soon. Mine has cold temp protection as well. It has bluetooth and comes with a battery meter but no charger for 659.00
Sounds like a good option
A lot of information but the camera moving all over the place is quite annoying.

Vatrer batteries are manufactured by BYD (Build Your Dreams), an electric car manufacturer. They also make Spiderway and Mosasaur batteries, and possibly more. Spiderway batteries are great value for money, and pretty much exactly the same as Vatrer. Mosasaur batteries have a better votage gage housing now, otherwise, they're the same as well. They all use the same voltage gage, pretty much the same charger, and battery cells. The main difference between the three, is the price. I have a 72v, 105ah Spiderway battery. It was close to half the price of it's competition. I get 50mph with a Club Car Navitas setup.

can't believe I found the correct wiring for the forward/reverse switch. I bought a club car several years ago with incorrect wiring that made the car surge when in forward. hell i don't even know why it worked at all. I stopped the video when saw the switch! I immediately went and rewired it, and away it goes, no surging in forward!
Glad the video helped!!

I'm thinking of buying a "flood" cart. I've been renting a cart at the Florida Flywheelers the last few years. I see lots of these carts for $300-$700. I guess I could buy and LiPo battery and see if any of them are capable of moving before deciding which one to buy? Hopefully I could find one with a good controller and motor? Also I guess salt water immersion would be different than fresh water immersion. Not sure where you are located.

So the black negative coming from the reducer is not used at all ? It just hangs there?
@@bigshowradio_550 that is not correct I was just hooking up the voltage reducer in this video… You would use the yellow to the positive side of your accessories and the negative to the negative side of your accessories
@ ok. I thought so but I question my thinking anymore 😁. My lithium 52 volt arrived today. It doesn’t have a button to turn it off (DC House) but has an app. Might be able to turn it off through that? It’ll be a bit before I install it. If I cannot turn it off, does it make a difference which lead I connect to the battery first?
Does not..just be careful if you can’t turn it off 😎👍🏻
Thanks!
That is so very kind of you!! Merry Christmas!!
I have a blue wire going to the main pos and a black wire taped, but not connected to the main negative, and going into the back of the cart .....when either is disconnected the lights go off...when tested it draws 48v....does this go to a reducer already in the cart or do i still add a reducer....if so what happens to those wires
Lithium or lead acid? You must have a reducer somewhere if the lights work. You can fallow the wires and find out.
Unrelated, but I am having some cart issues. Anyway we can have an email conversation to diagnose my issues?

Excellent video! Refreshing to see a no BS, straight forward video. I have a couple of questions 1. I have a 2017 Phantom Club Car. I can’t find much info on this model. Do you know if it comes with an OBC or a 48 to 12 V converter? 2. There’s a blue wire that connected to the 3rd? Battery that is not in your cart. Was is this wire for? Do I connect to negative or positive? 3. There’s also a thin black wire to negative in the last battery (not in your video). Can you tell me where that wire is for? 4. Do I need a voltage converter? Thanks again!
Thanks for watching A phantom is just a body what you have is a precedent It would not have an OBC being a 2017 model Whenever you are running aftermarket accessories, such as headlights tail lights, you must run a voltage reducer I have a new video coming out within the next few days that will hopefully explain all of this… stay tuned!
Thank you! I definitely need help. Don’t want to fry the lights!

Got a few questions 1. Does the key switch and the forward/reverse switch still work after this conversion or does it need to be converted to 12 volts 2. My Club Car has headlights, does this circuit need to be
You can remove the lead acid and drop in a lithium and everything will work as it should. However…. if you have headlights or any accessories, you would need a 48v to 12 V voltage reducer.

You should insulate your power post studs somehow. A screwdriver accidentally hits those and it will get interesting.
👍🏻
For the port, I took the oem one apart, using a drill press “machines out” the guts. Then, cut the end off an old heavy duty 10 gauge extension cord, and hot melt glued with high temp glue the end in the port using almost two long sticks of glue. Works great.

A big thank you to both Jeff @kartkrazy and to Carl at EV drives. I did this conversion to my 2006 E-Z-Go TXT, at the same time as doing a Li battery conversion, per another of Jeff's videos. My cart has a Curtis 1205-117 controller, so the wiring was a little different, but in the end, it went together similar to this video. Both Jeff and Carl responded to my requests for additional info via e-mail (thank you both!), and some of the comments below (especially on the blue wire to the key switch ones) were helpful. I ended up running the orange wire from the Curtis controller to the "Rev" side spade on the reversing contactor (like Jeff did in this video), and running two new wires: 1 was a wire from the Curtis solenoid + to the center of the F&R switch (again, same as Jeff did in this video), and then a new wire from the Batt + terminal to the blue key switch wire, through an automotive blade fuse holder. I have a 25A fuse installed there. That last wire was needed because the battery upgrade to Li also changes out the charging receptacle, so the red wire that used to go from the reed switch in the charging receptacle to the old direction controller has to be replaced by this new fused wire. This gives the key switch 12V, which then powers the cart when the key switch is turned on. Thanks again Jeff...enjoying your videos! Cheers, Bob
@@bobmills1617 thanks for watching!!
I like your video Thank you! Question is I did not see how did you by pass OBC some people and video shows cutting the wires and jump blue and white wire together. Can you explain if this is needed. I thank you kindly in advance
@@marcmartinovic5366 not needed The cart only cares about getting the 48v. Never had to splice anything. Hook up the battery, hook up the charger and you are good to go.👍🏻
@@kartkrazy Thank you kindly sir! I will remove old charging port with wires to OBC. Then negative cable from OBC to battery negative and positive cable from solenoid to positive terminal on the battery and should work like you said. I will get battery "DCHOUSE" 51.2 volts 100AH approximately December 12th and will start conversion. In mean time I thank you a MILLION! All The best!
@marcmartinovic5366 appreciate ya👍🏻
Thank You for such a quick response. I wondered if it was because they were removing the OBC instead of leaving it in as your video shows. Would that make any difference?
It makes zero difference… The Golf Cart only cares about receiving 48 V… after that you can use whatever charger you want.
Great video I am upgrading my 2012 Precedent to a 51V LIPO 100 AH battery. My question is why some other videos are showing that you need to jumper two wires on the six pin plug behind the OBC. Your approach of just pulling the black and the gray wire seems to be a much simpler approach.
I have yet to figure out why people think they need to jump those two wires… I have been doing it this way for years and never had a problem.
Great video, thanks. Just to confirm when disconnecting/bypassing the OBC - just unplug the three wires from the charge port and that’s it? No need to jump the blue and white wire in the harness? And, no need to reroute the main negative directly to the controller? I’ve watched so many videos, I’m starting to get confused……😊. Thanks
@@CliffFields-j3w you got it!! The cart it’s only concerned about receiving 48 V… Once you disconnect the OBC you are free to use whatever charger you want. I’m not sure why people think they need to jump the blue and white wire in the harness. I have never done that in all my years of conversions.
I have a 2020 Precedent so no OBC, I did buy the extension cord piece to replace the charger port. Do you just cut the cables from the old charger port and cap them off with tape?
@@TX911dude I highly recommend just unplugging them and removing them it’s a lot easier
Just remove them from the controller and solenoid and unhook blue wire and remove entire wire harness. Gets it outta your way
@@coreymoore3390 exactly
For the Vatrer 48v lithium battery conversion; Is a 48v to 12 volt power/voltage reducer needed for a 2011 Club Car Precedence that already has head and tail lights?
Depends on how it was previously wired
It has one blue wire connected to the 2nd? battery and has a voltage of about 16v...Can I disconnect this blue wire from the battery and connect the 12v output of a voltage reducer to this wire? Maybe there is a voltage reducer somewhere on the cart that already reduces the voltage from 16 to 12 volts, so that may not work! (unless I find this reducer and remove it?). A bit baffled here :-)
@Steve-dd7pn if I understand the question correctly, it sounds like it does not have a voltage reducer. You would need to wire the voltage reducer directly to your battery and then plug your accessories into the voltage reducer.
Would have been nice if you had mentioned in the video adding a transformer for 12 volts before I blew my tail lights and head lights. I wrongly assumed that the cart would have that already.
I’m sorry that happened. This cart did not have headlights or tail lights so it was not necessary. I do have videos in my playlist showing how to hook up a voltage reducer.
Received and installed... it is working great and so much nicer than that lever did. One small issue, I am not getting 1/2 speed in Reverse. Any idea what I should troubleshoot?
@@BRob-k6n I had the same problem at first had to switch two of the wires around. I just don’t remember which ones
What size self tappers do you use?
