Fun-sized Adventures
США
Добавлен 12 май 2007
What's up? I'm Jeff. Welcome to the backyard.
I’m always on the lookout for ways to bring some adventure to our otherwise average yard so my kids will want to spend time outside.
But as a parent money can be tight.
That’s why I spend countless hours researching to find toys and equipment that are high quality but low cost.
Sometimes to save money I even end up building things myself.
Then I boil down everything I learn into this channel so parents like you can save money and time.
Your kids are only young once so let me help you reclaim a few hours of that precious time so you get out together in your own backyard and have a Fun-sized adventure of your own.

They don't include instructions so they can blame you for any errors.
🤣🤣🤣 I recently got the latest kit from this company and they had very detailed instructions so whatever the cause they seem to have rectified it. Weird side note: they actually use this video and others I’ve made on their website to explain how to assemble it.
This was fun. Except the part where you almost threw a stone at your house 😂
No houses were harmed in the filming of this production.
Happy Birthday to Fun-sized adventures! And also Merry Christmas to you and yours! It had been an absolute blast being part of your journey as a viewer and friend. Great things are ahead!!
Thanks Jason! Merry Christmas to you as well!
New sub here. I love your videos. I’m a newish mom to 2 boys & still growing my family. I am a gardener at heart, but I want my yard to be enjoyed by ALL.
Thanks for the comment! We like to plant the garden every spring but it turns out none of us like to do the upkeep. 🤣
Good video!
Better comment.
What an amazing video, 5 years have flown by and a great way to tell the story whilst packing things away for the winter. Merry Chrismas!!!
Thanks Ashley and Merry Christmas to you!
Thanks Jeff for all excellent videos done in the past which helps people to enjoy great fun and participates in backyard adventure activities! Good job as always and we love it. God bless you and your family and wish a healthy and fruitful 2025.
Thanks Jonny! Looking forward to the new year!
great video as always!! so glad that we are part of your friends circle. as the matter of fact, you are the only friend we made and still in touch in youtube channel hahahaha. God bless you guys!! More blessings in 2025.
Thanks and you too! I remember coming across your channel way back then and I could tell that you were going to eventually blow up.
Five years! Congratulations.......I remember those early days, and you're right it was a grind. I don't know where this whole RUclips thing will take us over the next 5 years, but It's been fun watching your channel these past five years.
Onward and upward! I think you and me both have finally found our stride and it’s gotten easier with more results. Maybe once a little more money is flowing we can take a big road trip and meet up with all the RUclips friends!
Where do I find the original video of the guy crashing into tree?
Here: ruclips.net/user/shortsbDC0eYA2J0w?si=kTj9wbMibIrcLiDt I couldn’t deduce the original poster to give credit. The video has been shared from multiple accounts.
Thanks
You’re welcome!
🎉 Your son looks so excited 😂. I'm definitely getting this for my son.. Thanks for the detailed review man.
You are welcome! (I asked him to be quiet while I was filming and he wasn’t excited about it.🤣)
My nephew is 10 and little shorter than your boy. Will this suit him for a year or more?
Definitely! While I don’t yet have an adult sized bow for comparison, I use this one all the time myself and don’t feel like it’s lacking. At least when it comes to basic short range target practice.
@@FunsizedAdventures I own the x8 and a long bow from sanlida. Thanks, I'll order this and you might consider the x8 for yourself 🎯👍
Will it hold up to pulling behind a sxs?
Probably…. Well within reason. 🤣 Assuming you don’t crash it into rocks at 30 mph or something like that.
4x6x12 in San Francisco costs $45.
Yikes! Plus installing a swingset on those hills can’t be easy. 🤪 Seriously though, lumber prices can fluctuate a lot.
Had our trampoline for almost 10 years now. It's definitely paid itself back to us and more. Our winters aren't as harsh as yours though
Definitely! Probably closer here to the conditions on top of Mam Tor. 🤣
excellent job! So wonderful that you spend time with your kids doing such fun projects.
Thanks! This was a fun project for sure.
oh i love the new edit @0:15
Can you tell I was editing this when that Final Cut update dropped. 🤣
What other trampoline content would you find helpful?
Good video!
Great comment!
I find the easiest way to put your trampoline away is to not even set it up.🤣😂
Someday we’ll collaborate on a trampoline fishing video. 😂
I give you an video idea : Take three of those cheap ones and glue them together.
🤣 I just may try that!
Good job finishing it up in the rain!!
It made it more exciting, that’s for sure!
84.97 on Amazon "Cyber Monday" deal.
Awesome deal! It’s 2 years later and still no damage to this sled.
I have that
I know how to shoot a bow🎉
Sweet!
This guy dads!
Thanks! 😁
01:50 did safety dad sign off that event?
Safety dad has been in an undisclosed location for the last 6 months. 🤣 I need to include him more.
What event would you add?
I was waiting for a blown out knee from you when you jumped off that swing.😂🤣
It’s the feet that kill me doing that! 🤣
Good video!
Thanks!
Well done. Subbed.
Next time, use ropes to assist in raising it.
Definitely! If I didn’t have such group people already there I would have done that this time.
I liked because of the mention of the measurement of the cubit as I think that's such a ridiculous measurement, but at the same time I like it lolz.
Although it varies from person to person, it saves a lot of time messing with a tape measure.
several kids, aka, Supervisors😆
👀ing, is my way too, often pretty good at it😏
gotta say, you sort of remind me of a young Norm Abram, whom I've grown up watching his show (The New Yankee Workshop) on Saturday mornings.☺👍 my dream to have workshop like his😏😄
A compliment of the highest order. At one point I had Norm Abram listed as one of my heroes on my Facebook profile. 🤣 Slowly working towards a workshop like his.
don't tighten it too much, a little free sag is good. don't install on dead trees, and don't use a sling end because it will kill them. ( that chokes the nutrient flow through the cambium ) instead; use a large auger bit to drill clean through a living tree ( same size as your cable ) string your cable through the hole you drilled in the tree, and take it down, at an angle, to an earth anchor set in concrete in the ground.
Great tips! I’ve talked about most of these in other videos, although I’ve never tried the drill through method. I usually just use 5 or 6 1’ long 2x4s placed vertically between the trunk and the cable to prevent ringing the tree and instead spread the pressure out vertically.
@@FunsizedAdventures yeah, the slat method ... that is better for sure, but not as good as a pass through eye bolt, or running the cable through ...but trees actually adjust themselves to loading, they kind of pull, then relax, and try to find the most comfortable way to deal with any load placed on them, ( and that means your going to run out of turn buckle if you don't have a cable back-stay anyhow )....so i prefer cable through back-stay, on mature trees.
@@FunsizedAdventures I apprenticed at freespiritspheres for 3 years, and am also a studied arborist.. I would be building tree houses, but I have all kinds of more important work to do....but I still study, and do, tree house and zip line, design.
Great review, editing and sound are top notch! Looking for an affordable alternative for my two boys and think this fits the bill. Amen @5:37!
Thanks for the comment! I went down a rabbit trail and rambled about that for several minutes while filming. 🤣 I edited it down to make it more concise and get back to the video topic.
Do you take down the lines in winter or leave them up yearround?
I take them down. I live in Maine where winter can be pretty wintery. The cable itself would probably be fine unless a tree fell on it in a wind storm or something. It’s mostly the bearings in the trolley that would probably wear out faster if left out, at least that’s what I would think. Thanks for the comment!
Good video!
Thanks for letting me put 1 more zipline up in our yard. 😁
Whats the longest or highest zipline you could build in the yard I wonder?
I would have to purposely cut trees in order to clear a path to get much longer. Then it becomes a matter of how to get the trolley back to the top. I may or may not be working out the details of some sort of diy, counter weighted, automatic zipline resetting device…
The video is awesome, this kit includes everything you want in a box for backyard adventure and it is very helpful for family zipline installation, thank you Jeff.
You’re welcome! Let me know as soon as it’s available for purchase. I’m sure people who see the video will want one.
@@FunsizedAdventures Yeah, I assume it will be selling online on amazon early of next week, we know people are wanting them to have fun.
Have you ever considered setting up a zipline from your house to your place of work?
High speed rail? 👎 High speed commuter zipline? 👍
Don't use high magnification unless you want to split a double star, and to look at the Moon, or planets. Even the biggest telescope on Earth can't magnify any star but the Sun to make it bigger. So why to use a telescope for stargazing? Because it collects much more light than human eyes, and you can see MORE stars, galaxies, and nebulae. The problem is that this telescope has a really bad low magnification eyepiece included, while the mirror isn't good for high magnification, and the tripod isn't sturdy, so I wouldn't recommend it, but if you already have one, a quality low magnification 32mm eyepiece can make experience somewhat better.
Thanks for the breakdown.
First guy was definitely NOT ok... but hopefully this will help people design a better backyard zipline. I just had this discussion with another family member when they had a 15 foot drop over about 100 ft and i told them it was a terrible idea, even ran the physics calcs on estimated speed. Still they didnt listen, and one hit the tree, another flipped and landed in her head and probably should have gone to the ER. I hope this will save some people some major injuries.
That’s the goal! Backyard ziplines are very safe if installed properly. I just set up a 100’ one for an upcoming video and the manufacturer instructions called for an 8’ drop. I set it up like that but after a few test runs I adjusted it up the tree trunk at the end to a 6’ drop and that was better. Having young kids I always err on the side of it being slower. I can only imagine what a 15’ drop would do!
Thank u so much for this it’s intimidating getting into telescopes and u made it so I don’t feel alone in learning thank u
You’re welcome. Thanks for watching!
Thanks dude great video I must go this mommy daughters bike 👍🏻
You’re welcome! I’m glad I could help.
