Most lipedema surgery is not covered by insurance companies. However, some commercial insurance plans that do cover lipedema reduction surgery if you meet their " medical necessity criteria. There is increased platelet activation in lipedema. However, there is no evidence I am aware of that related platelet number and lipedema.

The best advice I have is to use velcro wraps. They can make a difference for people who strugle puttion on compression.

@@bduncan3827 Yes , however, we follow best practices including having patients to visit the office at least once to ensure a complete and proper diagnosis. Have fluid and body composition measurements and make sure other nonsurgical treatments are prescribed.

@@PaperMario64 yes. From my primary. He is a DO. I did have consults with a vein doctor and have had MLD with an OT. So I had comorbidity diagnoses which helped me get approved. It took quite a few months to get approval but once I did, it has been easy.

Studies suggest that between 60% and 70% of women with lipedema also have joint hypermobility, a condition that can impact daily life and complicate the management of lipedema. @MaybeDHitHim yes that's my actual face and thank you for the compliment. Lipedema doesn't affect the face, thank goodness. Just the arms, legs, butt and hips.

There is no cure for Lipedema but it can be effectively managed with nonsurgical treatment including an anti-inflammatory diet and medical grade compression.
