    Unfortunately, when i see those picturesque valleys of farms, I say to myself "How long before they put a subdivision there". I see a lot of listings that feature a picture of a beautiful pasture, only to discover that is a view from the property. The actual property is the steep wooded part of a farm that was never cleared. Deceptive click bait. So you will have a nice view until the actual pasture is sold. Hopefully it will be a nice estateand not tract homes. Always assume the worst. My current home backs up to a nice preserve. It is so nice, that other people in the community wanted to put walking trails in, destroying our privacy. Luckily the preserve is habitat for a protected species. So even if you think you are safe, someone will try to changes the rules. I live in a huge planned community in Florida. I get a laugh out of all the people who come here from New York and complain about how crowded its gotten since they moved here 3 years ago. To escape these people, I hope to move to the Asheville be the complainer!😂

    Not able to avoid? Come on now! We don't have this issue in Hendersonville, Mills River, Black Mountain, Fairview, Flat Rock, lake Lure, and the list goes on. We are literally talking about towns and cities 20- 40 minutes outside Ashville City limits and some ever share the same county. Asheville proudly invited everyone with open arms, publicly. Asheville has the most hand outs in all of North Carolina. People will spend an entire week in Asheville then take a day trip to Hendersonville and become floored from the night and day different. They don't even believe it's the same state. Coming from someone who posted a video of their child's bike being stolen by a drug addict off her front porch, this is wildly inaccurate for you to post. The good news is when people come to visit, they find out for themselves real quick.

    • @livinginashevillenc
      @livinginashevillenc 26 дней назад

      🤦🏻‍♀️ Other “cities” around Asheville do not spend millions of $$ advertising themselves and putting themselves on all kinds of lists so that tourists can come and spend their money there. And other towns around Asheville DO have this issue as well. Not as much as Asheville does, but it’s there. Who did Hendersonville residents sign petition against so the day center won’t be opened there?? That’s right- homeless people.

    • @matthewc2810
      @matthewc2810 26 дней назад

      @@livinginashevillenc As a resident of Hendersonville for 17 years after leaving Detroit, Michigan ( I'm no stranger to crime and terrible politics) I can proudly say YES, we shutdown the idea of placing an outreach center for the homeless in the outskirts of Hendersonville. We wanted nothing to do with the idea and used Asheville as our reason why. Infact, we compiled all the data from Asheville and even used the freedom of information act to look up how many 911 calls and reports were made in just 1 years time from Ahope. This was enough for our council to stop the idea dead in it's tracks. For those who don't know, Asheville came up with the brilliant idea to place all their outreach services in the heart of the downtown district, RAD, and West Asheville instead of on the outskirts of town like the building that was in question in Hendersonville. Because of this, you now have a problem you can't fix in Asheville and the town is ruined. Hendersonville does not have this issue in the slightest, nor do we allow outsiders who are homeless to come into our town for resources. Infact, the overwhelming majority of our homeless population are actually born and raised residents of Hendersonville. This is not the case in Asheville. Not by a long shot. Ahope and the city of Asheville have spent endless dollars on data to know where these people are from and it's public record. Over 70% of the homeless population in Asheville are not from Asheville. These people will tell you without hesitation they are not from there and came for the resources and relaxed laws. Because Hendersonville does inforce laws and the residents don't want the city to replicate Asheville, we limit out resources to actual residents and this drives our homeless population to Asheville! Hendersonville does have a small homeless community ( obviously every thriving city does ), except when you visit Hendersonville, you will never see them. Why? Because we enforce laws here as stated above. Absolutely no pan handling in city limits ( you will NEVER see this in Hendersonville) along with laws against camping in tents in city limits and the list goes on. I invite everyone to visit Hendersonville and compare personally. I also suggest visiting the Henderson County sheriff's office in person and ask them the difference between crime and homelessness in downtown Hendersonville compared to downtown Asheville. You will be greeted immediately with laughter. Not only is the jail, courthouse, and sheriff's department fully staffed and run properly by sheriff Griffin, but it's located in our downtown district, so absolutely nothing is tolerated in Hendersonville. Junkie's don't line the streets, shops don't fear they will be robbed, tourists never feel unsafe, and local RUclipsrs who run real estate channels don't post ring cam videos of drug addicts stealing their child's bike right of their front porch and tell people it's normal behavior in Hendersonville. This woman is the very reason Asheville is the way it is today. The residents not only allow the issues, but they defend them and when anyone calls them out they act like you're stupid. The notion that " crime is in every city " is not relivent in this conversation. Asheville has the highest crime rates in WNC along with homeless and active addicts. It has little to do with population and everything to do with lawlessness encouraged by residents and politicians. Take a look at federal and local funding, nonprofit, and rehab centers and you will immediately understand why Asheville has problems. When you welcome people to your community that can't add value, this is what happens. Non of this is a secret. People with common sense see this immediately. The difference between the two cities is night and day. Hendersonville is now the new Asheville minis all the nonsense. We offer better community with older values and common sense, yet our city counsel and politicians are just as diverse except we don't print that on a T-shirt and call people the devil if they take issue with it. Hotels don't run our City, the people do. We voice our concerns and they actually listen to us. To drive this point home, we said absolutely not to an outreach center that would incentivize non residents from Hendersonville to come into our city and set up shop. Infact, I'm please and delighted with her response above as it highlights the difference between Asheville and Henderson residence. Another great point she makes is how Hendersonville can afford to listen to their residents unlike Asheville because we aren't spending millions of dollars a year dedicated to tourism. Our money is spent on us for the most part, yet we having a thriving tourism population. We also host different events such as the apple festival yearly and we don't charge for entry. Asheville now charges for most festivals just to attend. Honestly, I could write a book about how bad Asheville is, why people with common sense avoid the area, and more importantly why the issues the City faces didn't exist 40 years ago. What matters is you have her painting a completely different picture of what goes on in Asheville. As to say, hey...these problems are everywhere, but as you've read they clearly aren't. Use the freedom of information act. Visit local law enforcement. Talk to people who were actually born and raised in Asheville. It's not possible to hide the truth. Feel free to come visit Hendersonville for yourself, but if you don't have money you won't be overstaying your welcome. You'll have to visit Asheville for that!

    I moved here from Miami beause I lived there all my life and came here on vacation in July and had to put a sweater on in the evening. I thought, "I can see myself living here." And then the Universe comspired to make it happen. After 6 years of living here I finally found a job I love and it is based out of WNC. Everything you say is true, but somehow I was ale to start over after age 50 here as a working person. I love the weather and the view of mountain tops when I drive to work. In Miami, it's not possible to see the ocean on your drive to work unless you work there. It was a good move for me.

    Asheville is too trendy and therefore expensive. Live there if you can afford it but don't expect any wait staff to wait on you because workers can't afford to live in Asheville. I hate Asheville.

    I lived in Asheville twice, once in Montford, once in West Asheville. I really liked West Asheville, it's kind of it's own town, there's a sense of community pride and the homes are cute old craftsman bungalows. I moved away because it became too much of a trendy scene with the trust fund bros. I live in a small town about 30 minutes south, got twice the house and land for half the money.

    Watching from Homestead FL. Soon to be in Weaverville. “No Restriction” can be great or a problem; but so can association/HOA. Good and bad follow both
