      Thanks for making this video, Campbeltown is a little far for me, so good to be able to see what I missed out on via RUclips. You present your videos really well. Interesting seeing what models are there. Shame the VP HSV are so rare now. Probably many were written off like mine was at the hands of the owner after myself. Your VR GTS is a beautiful example. With the Genesis Blue versions, do you recall if they were they only sold into NZ? Other than I think the Brock giveaway version?

    • @GTZ05
      @GTZ05 6 часов назад

      @jamestoby2552 you are welcome and Im glad you enjoyed it… I try to keep the Holden memory alive on my little channel.. With the VP only made for half the run of VN, they are super rare and lot would have left us early in life… one of the Genisis blue GTS’s was sold new in Australia and I saw it once in Wollongong around 2007, one of the giveaway Brock cars in Genisis did go to NZ.. I’ve seen the Red Brock VR GTS Giveaway car in the flesh and hope to make a little video on it someday…

      @@GTZ05 Thanks for your response. Very interesting that there's at least one genesis blue version in Australia. I always thought that colour was only for NZ. It's my favourite colour for the VR-VS. I liked it more than the Canterbury blue of my old (now dead as mentioned) VP Senator 5000i. Would be fantastic to see a video on that very rare VR GTS giveaway car.

    • @GTZ05
      @GTZ05 6 часов назад

      @jamestoby2552 yeah I spoke to the guy, I think it was designated for NZ and the order got cancelled.. so ended up being sold here… a VP Senator 5000i would have been a great car.. I used to have a 5th Anniversary Clubby, loved that thing..don’t mind canterbury blue but when genesis came out on the VR II, I loved it.. most associate that colour with VS… I will do my best to get that video out of the giveaway.. I also haven’t done a video on my GTS, I have limited time but will get more videos out for sure..

    A little knowen fact was Holden was looking to have a bigger engine option for its Statesmans from 1977 on . The 403 ci 6.6 litre Oldsmobile Small Block that came on line in 1977 ( in the US Trans Am and others ) was slotted to go into Statesmans , with a T350 or T400 auto . But it never ended up happening . Would have made a quite zippy Statesman . It was that close to happening a shipment of 403,s were already on the docks in Australia when Holden decided to not go with the bigger motor. But on a final note , the then in 1979 GM Holden president who was retiring back to the USA wanted to take a LE Monaro home with him , he couldnt take a 308 LE so he got one of the 403 ci Oldsmobile Small Blocks installed on the LE Monaro ( Holden also slotted the 403 ci for the LE Monaro production engine but also never happened) , the Oldsmobile 6.6 was a good choice for the LE Monaro , as it was also the 6.6 in the " Smokey and the Bandit " Pontiac Trans Am. The LE already shared a few parts with the Trans Am most notably the Honeycomb wheels ( later the Gold Snowflake Wheels) both Trans Am factory wheels, so the 403 would complete the package , i just wished Holden would have gone along with the package, and hopefully the Tras Ams shaker 6.6 hood scoope ! As the story goes the GM boss took the LE Monaro 6.6 back to the US , so its driving around the US tofay somewhere.

    • @GTZ05
      @GTZ05 9 дней назад

      That’s a great story, thanks for sharing.. the LE Coupe was super luxurious for its time, but never officially badged as a Monaro.. the first batch of them were burnt while parked outside of the production plant, I think in Pagewood plant. The prototype had a full sunroof LEO PRUNEAU the designer wanted all of them to have the roof but was out of scope for Holden. All the Holden motors had lost so much power due to emission controls by that point, that that motor would have been great..

    I have an April 95 VS Executive 5.0 manual. It was originally ordered and owned by a factory worker. Maranello Red, dual airbags, central locking, electric mirrors, manual windows, ABS, LSD, 80l fuel tank, 15 x 7jj steel wheels, Executive wheel covers, standard suspension, SS interior.

    • @GTZ05
      @GTZ05 12 дней назад

      Sounds like a great combo like a BT1, bet you love it. The factory worker prob wanted all those specs. How rare in Red.. I used to know someone who had a BT1 brand new because Holden made a mistake with NSW orders so they had a surplus and sold them direct to the public..

    • @rockygoodfellow77
      @rockygoodfellow77 12 дней назад

      @GTZ05 it was well known that factory worker cars got special treatment down the line including a few runs through the paint shop. It's paint is still in excellent condition which says a lot given how badly red copes with our weather and sun. I was a bit sceptical about the car at first, but I had Holden run its VIN and its fair dinkum. Back in the day I owned a VN BT1 1990-94 and bought a VR SS manual new in Aug 94. The VS runs beautifully and is a pleasure to drive.

Really , might want to tell the world food organisation that , they list that as a good diet ! McDonald's keeps lower income families alive in many countries ! So yah nah ya point is moot ! The VN had so many features much more expensive cars had, in fact Australia was spoilt , we got one of the most reliable 6 cylinders in history a motor with one of the longest life spans around , 1962 to 2004 . A grate motor , oh did you say harsh I think that's what you said ? Any idea why it's like that ? Do some research , when they upgraded the odd fire Buick V6 in the early 1980s they gave the " public" a choice of odd fire motor , semi even fire and even fire . The " public" chose not the smooth even fire motor to go into production, but the semi even fire that had rasp to it , because who would want a dead smooth grandma's motor ! So that's the V6 GM built a grate motor . So was the Commadore, exported to 7 different countries. So go back to mums Kia and enjoy! Lmfao.

It was a reliable car as you say and it did serve many people well, it was just rough and noisy compared to the other family cars on offer at the time. My VP was a BT1 excellent performance with the 5.0L independent rear SS trim & full HSV exhaust which sounded mint, these were real cars know pesky electronics, the only tech was ABS which was I life saver. I converted it to LPG because it was very thirsty, it actually ran better on gas for some reason, thanks for the video, brought back many fond memories. What did Holden do to in hance the V8?🇦🇺👍

      To enhance the V8 from 165KW to 180KW, there was a different exhaust, knock sensor, recalibrated ECU and HSV Air Cleaner.. if auto 4th didn’t engage until 80km (guess that made it feel more powerful) but would use more fuel in the 60-70 zones
