agree they're super worth it. the esp ltd ax-50 was my first guitar. made in indonesia but seems to be super high quality compared with my korean and japanese guitars. like you, i ended up upgrading to EMGs (went with 85/81 set) and love it. put on 10-52s and tuned down to drop c, it sounds great and plays great. the wood is quite soft so does ding easily but the finish has never cracked on me. have recently owned an EC1000 too which to be honest i didn't see what was particularly great about it that made it cost so much more, was still a great guitar though!

Horrible tones

Love the Hypocrisy shirt man, one of the first metal bands from my country that I started listening to together with At The Gates, Inflames, Soilwork, Dark Tranquility and Scar Symmetry. However. I remember back in the day when LTD guitars gave you premium pickups like EMG's and a neck tru body design for around 800$/€ brand new, today you get LTD in house pickups which are not very good even if you buy a guitar for 1000€ =( Today you will have to pay like 1300€/$ or more for an LTD guitar with Neck through body and better pickups than LTD in house pickups =( It is the same thing with Schecter guitars, they also gave you good specs for around 500€/$, today they are the same as LTD, over 1000€/$ to get something decent. If you want a good guitar with premium specs today below 1000€/$ you have to go with Solar Guitars, If I am remembering correctly they have the A2.6 models which have Seymour Duncan designed Solar pickups which sounds great and a Neck Through body design with a Floyd Rose for around 700€/$ brand new. Kramer guitars are also back with guitars like the Nightswan guitar that has Seymour Duncan JB's and also an original Floyd Rose 1000 for around 700€/$ which is INSANE. To get a guitar with Floyd Rose 1000 on a ESP/LTD or Schecter guitar you would have to pay at least 1400$/€ today. So my answer is no, I do not think entry level and especially intermediate guitars from brands like LTD or Schecter is worth it anymore, they have become greedy companies, which offer you less than before. If you are looking for a entry level guitar I would go "S by SOLAR" or Ibanez, some Jacksons are cool too. Some Squiers like the Classic Vibe if you want something closer to an original strat. Note that I have not tried as many entry level guitars from LTD or Schecter for that matter as I have with intermediate guitars, the kind of guitars you might buy as your second guitar, guitars at 400 to 800€/$ I think it is here that LTD and Schecter has lost it completetly , where they used to give you really good instruments for they money you paid, all those guitars seems to have moved above 1000€/$ right now which is sad. And for intermediate players for people that have been playing a couple of years, Solar guitars, Kramer is back and awesome for the price, Jackson has a few models around 600€/$ with duncan designed pickups, some Ibanez are good in the intermediate section as well where you get a lot of mahogany tonewood, fast slim necks and good Edge tremolo bridges. Stay clear of anything from ESP/LTD and Schecter between 400 to 1000€/$ until they wake up and start giving people more guitar for their money like they used to. There might still be some entry level/beginner guitars from LTD and Schecter that are decent like the MH-10 / EC-10 and such guitars, but when I tried them back to back with "S" by Solars comparable guitars, I found the Solar guitars more premium and felt better to play.

Interesting. I had a bluish-green J-five some years back. It had factory EMG J pickups. I’d never sold it, but the spacing was just too tight for me. A friend bought it from me and it’s his #1. I never considered putting soapbars in that one, but that’s really what I like in my basses. Most J pickups don’t have the output or tone I like. Sounds good. I miss my j-five, but fortunately I still have visitation rights.

I always thought that Jackson are the greatest until i came upon esp or Ltd it is just drastically better than Jackson and more value for money

100% agree - I bought an LTD MH-10, PLEK'D it, and replaced the hardware with black gotoh locking etc. For only about $300 of upgrades, the thing plays as good as my E-II, and actually I play it more often

I have two of the 6260s. Both pre infinium models. One is stock and one is modded. The one thats stock has worked great and the one that's modded has had issues. It had runaway bias on one of the tubes, I had to isolate a pin and while I had it open I touched up any suspicious solder joints and added a resonance pot to the back of the chassis. A while later I had to replace a microphonic cap in the crunch channel. I can't really blame the amp though because I bought it used, sight unseen, from guitar center online and it has clearly been through some weird shit. In the end the amps sound great, they're not hard to work on at all, and they're cheap.

I always use the high voltage dimebag DR strings , I don't know if there any different from regular DR strings but it has dime on the front so makes me feel like they play better lol . I wish elixir would come out with a heavy metal style string because I played nothing but elixirs for 20 years on my acoustic I've had them last a year before and still sound good . I've had the DR how old is dime strings on my custom dime Dean for about a month now and I'm always tuning down to C or B then when I get bored of it I'll turn it back up to standard and I haven't had a string break on me yet it's definitely time to change them but I'm just impressed with how long they've lasted I've only had results like that out of elixirs
