All of your problems with these bosses (and especially with Radahn) could be solved with a little more patience and a more positive mindset.
ER and SotE are the definition of wide as an ocean, deep as a puddle.
Another big problem with motion inputs is how they can create completely arbitrary restrictions that feel awful to play around For example, trying to walk forward into fireball and instead getting a dp This problem could be solved if the input reader prioritized qcf over dp but thats never the case
I think this video is definitely getting a bit too much hate Especially the point about the analog stick is 200% valid and some deadzones to make them useable would take nothing from the devs Its frustrating how no one seems to agree on that

You say that the DLC's are the worst part of the games yet most of the souls borne community regards the DLC's as the best pieces of content for each game. Sounds like fromsoft games just aren't your thing.

You're correct. The dlc was fucking terrible. I loved elden ring, the dlc was a whole lot of nothing. The ending was empty. I beat it with ST lvl 13 with ease. It sucks.
The thing that frustrates me about motion inputs (and to a lesser extent, command normals) is how performing them is tied to your movement. In my brief stint trying to learn SFV, I repeatedly had problems with a very simple Ryu combo - hit confirming a crouching medium punch into Shoryuken. Because you start the attack crouching (2), and then have to do a Z motion (623), on a controller, your hand will naturally move to do 2(3)623 + punch. But if you overshoot the last motion EVER so slightly, you'll do 236236 + punch. The input for Ryu's super. You have no idea how many times I tried doing this simple combo only to end up wasting all my meter instead. And yes, I know this is a "skill issue". I could avoid this by letting the stick reset to a neutral position before initiating the Z motion (2 + punch, 5, 623 + punch). But why do I have to come up with tricks to correct my brain, when most games are (wisely) designed to have attacks clearly delineated so it's almost impossible to "do the wrong one" by accident? And if people still insist that this is good game design and I just need to "get gud", remember that this happens to skilled players as well. What fully soured me on motion inputs was finding out that seasoned pros who have played for years ALSO get occasional misinputs. Hilariously, Lashar won a match against Chris Wong at Capcom Pro Tour Singapore... by accidentally inputting a DP when trying to do a level 3 super. Everyone at the time thought it was a God-like read, but on his social media, he admitted it was an accident. So, if even the pros can't do it consistently after years of practicing, then I'm pretty sure it's just a bad control scheme.
I tried pad, it hurt my thumb too much and was uncomfortable, so I stayed on joystick until I decided to buy the cheapest arcade stick and have never been happier. Fuck being optimal, arcade stick is just too viscerally fun to use
I hated the base game for being too fkin unintuitive and emty and most of all, for the broken open world. Who the f decided it was a good idea to put a character in the lymgrave who gives you guidance to a teleport which brings you to a high level location with three bosses, and who would have thought, they all can be cheesed and abused. how the f you are supposed to feel margith as ur first boss when you can come to him on basically any level and one shot his ass. after that, I dunno how can you possibly protect anything about this game, it's like you follow the quest from the early game character of which there few, and by playing the game and going through questlines you accidentally end up with a broken in half game. every fromsoft game before ER was stunning and unique in their own right, but this is a copypasted graveyard of "good" ideas from the previous games and there's nothing to it except for that. good vid brother, comments seems to be from bots or idk nine year olds who saw a horse and went gaboonga

20:10. Holy crap, I don't know how I missed THIS bit on my first watch. Dude is actually just mad at the basic core principle of fighting games which is you don't just get an automatic win by "knowing enough stuff." Whether you know that it can be an overhead or low does not _guarantee_ you a win, because as you point out, it's a GUESS. That's on purpose. Your opponent isn't the game or the systems, it's the PERSON on the other end. What you're doing would the equivalent in an FPS of being mad that you can turn a corner and get sniped because the sniper predicted you'd be there and was waiting for you to show up.
Motion inputs are necessary. The dragon punch is not just some stupid input for the hell of it. The reason it starts forward is that a traditional dragon punch is a reversal. You need a period in which you aren't blocking and are vulnerable before the move is active so you don't just consistently explode out of pressure with I frames. Additionally, the nature of the DP being tied to a motion input balances it. One button dps have and always have been nerfed in almost every game they occur. Granblue's DPs are not as good as a dp in say, UNI. Fantasy Strike has a one button dp but it damages you. Street Fighter 6 has a one button DP but it does 20% less damage and the control scheme locks you out of some normals. This is because DPs that you can just push out without committing to a motion are VERY strong. If you have a one button DP in a footsies game, it lessens the purpose of anti-air normals and thus shrinks a characters toolkit. The only example I can see a one button DP not being nerfed to compensate is BBTAG but given the intentionally busted design of that game, one button dps are one of the lesser broken things. There are some motions that are archaic for the sake of being archaic. I don't think anyone is gonna really die on the hill that the pretzel input should be the norm but your take fundamentally misunderstands the importance motion inputs have at a high level. This is coming from a guy who despised the DP for the longest time. Please consider looking at this video by Leon Massey which I took a bit from. Agree with most points. Also about most of the defenders. Many of them never played a FS game, theyre normies, ER was their first FS game, since its "mainstream" now. They search for the most broken build on youtube, use spirit ashes all the time, basically all the tools that make the game trivial, and they feel "pride" for beating it, and think the game is perfect. They dont even know or interact with the bosses, since most of them use spells, while the spirit ash tanks and takes aggro. I know this because ive spoken to too many of the "game is perfect, best game, git gud" crowd. A shame really. My biggest gripe with ER as a whole is not the difficulty tho, its that its very boring, on my first playthrough, after about 50-60% of the game, i felt burnt out. The same copy pasted mines or catacombs, the reused bosses, the empty and pointless open world. All of that feels even worse on a second playthrough. SOTE is just more of the same. I just hope their next game will be Bloodborne 2 or DS4. Make it "semi" open, or open zones, make things unique, and dont copy paste everything 100 times.

Gee imagine hating the base game and then buying the DLC anyway just so you can complain more about how much you still hate it. I mean, I agree that worst parts of Elden Ring are magnified in Shadows of the Erdtree, but all the best qualities were also magnified. It's more of the same, for both better worse.

Some of the criticism is valid. I think people get way too attached to this game. It's true that you feel you need to pick up everything because you can't be selective or know where important stuff is. It's true that some of these bosses are so overly aggressive that you feel you win by luck sometimes and it's more of a relief than an accomplishment. I do think the repetitive copy/paste bosses gets very annoying. However, overall, it's a great game. I think the open world being so empty makes sense because that's how the world should be. It shouldn't be that you just encounter a battle every 3 steps that you take. No game is perfect, and if people can't handle criticism of their favorite game, that sucks because games don't get better by everyone just cheering everything.
The open world point is not really suitable here, since the open world shouldn't be empty by default otherwise what's the point of it? and it's not devoid of enemies, it's devoid of activities and yeah all you can do is farm bots and that's it, cuz for a game that big there is not much to get from exploring, except for the cookbooks and expendables, which are...well I dunno if there is a sane person to enjoy that kind of a reward.

Instead of commenting on many different points you made I'll just say that I disagree with your general outlook on the game, but I do agree with some of your criticisms. I will say that I think your issue with exploration focused progression is brought on by overlooking a critical aspect of the type of game Elden Ring is. Sure ER and most other Souls games are called RPGs but they are really just action-adventure games. Souls-likes are really Zelda-likes. Exploration is a major pillar of that type of game so progression based on it is a good thing. Our different opinions might come down to a difference in personality. I am a very detail-oriented person so I carefully comb the map on every playthrough with a smile. I'm also extremely stubborn so I love the difficulty even though I suck at action games. I can easily see people with different traits seeing the game very differently, so I don't fault your views. You mentioned that you played most of FromSoft's other Souls games so I'm assuming that something kept bringing you back to them. What do you think that was?
I think there are some valid points here. Elden ring do suffer from sequel-itis, where it felt like it has to beat the previous title. Hence why the boss is so bs at times. But besides radahn and perhaps renalla with her ambigous "is she done or not", none of them felt like a chore. But I do feel if from keep this up, the next souls formula game will be a difficulty mess. As for scadutree tied with exploration, I think most of them are on fairly natural progression area. The open world reward besides scadutree is usually dogshit true, but I think exploring the nook and cranny for sneaky hidden passage is quite fun. Not everyone cup of tea, but I get your PoV. Anyways, keep it up man, don't let extremist make your spirit down. Opposing PoV is always good to see.

I think a lot of the criticism you are getting in the comments is too much but I did notice you never use the jump when fighting bosses as a way to dodge. There were plenty of moves you said were too hard to dodge where jumping would have dodged the attacks.
