My problem with the many translators who were involved in this contemporary bible versions is that they have been involved in other previous modern translations and once their latest translation is published they always say that it is the best translation. Before this new one was published, their previous translation was the best, then now this new one is the best whatever, word for word, thought for thought, etc. They have to sell the latest.

I agree its knowable languages for the sake of the gospel,but because of your denominational bias and hatered towards pentacostals(which I am not) left a bad taste your mouth,you now go the other denominational bias and say things that are true,like don't pray for the gift nobody did that when Paul says to do so.Im going to assume you left Pentecostalism for Calvinism because that's what people usually do and shoot themselves in the foot,denominations are cancer let them go and see more clearly. Again I agree with your understanding it is actual languages but you drop the ball when you say this has ceased just because you have had bad experiences and have not seen it.

What you are saying is NOT completely accurate. In 1Corinthians 12:8-10 the spiritual gifts are absolutely valid for today and always! And in 1Cor 14:1 Paul says they should be earnestly desired and he himself moved in these gifts as all Christians can IF they desire and believe in them. In Romans 15:18-19 Paul says that his ministry in leading Gentiles to Christ was due to obeying God by what I SAY and DO and by the power of signs and wonders through the power of the Spirit of God. Just because one is not healed doesn’t make the Word of God or power of Holy Spirit of no effect! We are only validated as Christians by Romans 10:9-10 when we confess and believe in your heart that God raised Jesus from the dead…this is a two-fold salvation…for one believes with the heart and is justified, AND one confesses with the mouth and so is saved! But we were given that great commission in Mark 16:14-18 so we would understand that whatever Jesus did, we could do and greater works as well (John 14:12). Jesus also stated in that verse “…he who believes in Me the works that I do he will do also and greater works than these because I go to the Father”. We are to be Jesus on this Earth! That’s the Christian calling! But one does need to believe in the fullness of Christ and not pick and choose what we want to walk in. Also, remember right before the commission in Mark, Jesus rebuked His disciples for their unbelief and hardness of heart because they could not believe Jesus rose from the dead as He also rebuked disciples for not being able to cast out a demon (Luke 9 because they were not in prayer and fasting which strengthens our faith to walk in the power of the Spirit to do miracles as Jesus could. Disciples were also rebuked when they didn’t understand about the miracle of fish and loaves to feed thousands because they believed the doctrine of the Pharisees (Matthew 16:1-12) In summary, Romans 10:9-10 and belief in that scripture is what validates true Christians BUT we must fulfill all we are called to, including the gifts of the Spirit.

Just go back to the original Hebrew Gospel, later named matthew. The verse ends with, There is none Born of Women greater than he (John the Baptist).. The "least in kingdom, greater than John" reference; is a greeko/roman addition. This addition caused many to accept outlandish and nonsensical reasoning. Messiah was born of a Woman, is John greater than Him? Also, the words; None born of Woman is greater than he; in Hebrew the word is Wife/woman. Messiah was conceive in a Virgin, Born of The Holy Spirit, not from relations between husband and wife; Therefore it's clear that Messiah is Greater, John is very Great. So for hundreds, more likely almost 2 thousand years of confusion, now, just by looking at the original Hebrew. It's clear... YShYRYR Bless You All...

I've been healed by God 2x. One was a head on collision on interstate 40 -- My car was thrown 25 feet backwards, and so powerful it took 1 hour to get me out of the car. I essentially walked away from the crash. I also have had a stroke, It was a significant stroke, several doctors can't explain the severity of the stroke should have left me in a nursing home, yet you couldn't tell if you saw me that anything was wrong. God does do miracles, and I believe God always heals. Hypothetical Example: A christian and an atheist are in a military hospital. The christian is looking at his newly amputated legs when the atheist mocks him, "So, where's your 'god' now? I'll believe your fairy tale god if I see for myself your legs grow and you walk out of here! HAHAHA" The christian looked at the man, "My healing doesn't depend on the physical manifestation of new limbs but for my GOD to give me the ability to live every day without them." Healing is not just physical, but emotional, mental, and spiritual too. God is going to give us what we need.

In Matthew 24 the disciples asked Jesus when will the Temple be destroyed and what will be the sign of your coming and of the end of the age. Because they put all those questions together maybe Jesus mixed his answer so it's a little bit hard to see what relates to the destruction of Jerusalem in Ad 70 and what pertains to his second coming.

I’ve tried. I just don’t like it. It has a very artificial disconnected feel to it. It feels like a movie remake that is just awful.

I have nothing against the NLT, but I find it too thought for thought for me to use. Also it uses US measurements like pounds, which makes the Bible harder to understand because I'm in the UK and mostly use grams and kilograms. My favourite translation is the NIV because it has a good mix of formal and dynamic equivalence, also it has an Anglicised edition for British readers that use metric measurements in the footnotes.

Thanks. Yes been listening to alot of teachings about the Word of Faith movement and the creeping in of New thought beliefs into our churches. It is sometimes confusing as there are scriptures that seem to confirm that yes, words are important, faith comes through hearing, signs will accompany believers etc. But again so many verses are taken in isolation and sometimes not even in context at all. This specific passage has been bothering me and you have helped to put it into perspective.

God promised to preserve His written word and the King James Bible is God's preserved written word in the English language. ESV = Easy Satanic Version Word for word yes, but unfortunately it's from the corrupt Alexandrian texts.

I wish that people would call a spade a spade. There is no valid tongues heard in any church today whether someone thinks they've interpreted it or not. Just because gibberish is spoken in order and then "translated" doesn't mean it's Biblical. I'll believe it when I hear real languages spoken and then interpreted....not "shakalaka" means "God wants to bless you but you stand in his way" or whatever vague stupidity I always hear.
