Heartbreak

The officers did what they could. The Captain, Chief officer and First officer went down. Others were assigned to man the life boats, and others went into the water and survived by clambering onto an overturned boat. Terrible night.

I've never seen more abuse of the English language, than the comments on RUclips. This Titanic video is a sterling example. It's clear that people didn't learn much in 5th grade English class. Everyone's comments are wrought with grammatical errors, such as run on sentences, misuse of "subject - verb agreement," and a general disregard for proper punctuation. In many cases, comments are so ill formatted, that it is difficult or even impossible to comprehend any discernible thought. In short, people are so unintelligible and seemingly uneducated, that I (personally) find it frustrating and annoying, to try and sift through their clumsy and hastily put together commentary. The world is extremely over populated with morons.

I'm a little skeptical about the authenticity of this. Im sure that the real broadcast was recorded. So why not use it ?

Ah, that's interesting. They initially never had enough people to fill the boat. That explains why they allowed so many wealthy and academic people to travel either cheaply or free. I think I'd have been a bit suspicious had I realised how empty the boat had initially been too.

It shouldn't be funny, but the way he explained all the people needed to convince and "hoist" the "very fat lady" into the boat made me smile

His account is the one that struck me the most. He was in the water and truly was a survivor

Incredible recollection, so viivid in his mind (and dreams clearly). Poor guy must have suffered over the years, I agree with @riclynee6176 , the nightmare statement is a reminder that he'll never forget, and neither shall we.

The Captain should have stopped the band from playing and paid more attention to making people get in the lifeboats over filled if they needed to be.

She would have seen none of those white paneled dining saloon because she was a second class passenger

They weren't out for any records but didn't slow down despite being warned several times if icebergs by other ships !

There are far too many naval and historical so called "experts" commenting on this video. You should be grateful you had the chance to listen to someone who was there.

"and the screams...went on for some time...." that poor man. They didn't know what PTSD was but you can tell, even in his quite proper and formal speaking style, that he still hears those screams. And he was in charge. God bless you sir.

i think it is wrong to blame one or two people. There were numerous catalysts to the sinking.. May everyone involved in the Titanic rest in peace.

I think he was portrayed in SOS Titanic in 1979, driving his shoulder through one of the gates using his size and strength, that separated steerage from second class, enabling him and the few Irish emigrants with him to escape. He was Norwegian I think.

That’s when men were men! I’m so happy you got this interview. Titanic is such a horrific but also beautiful story to know we are all so intrigued and to be able to see interviews like this. And when I say beautiful, (I don’t mean to say that it’s anything beautiful about tons of people getting their lives lost.) the beauty is that over 100 years we still care

No real man should have survived as long as there were still women and children aboard. Those “men” that survived are cowards!

He's so full of it lol so it's the Morse operators fault, whilst they got warnings of ice literally the entire day and night and spent the day and night disregarding them... no, THAT one specific one regardless of all others that had been ignored would've made all the difference

A very brave man...like so many of his generation, he served in the Great War and was awarded the Military Cross.

My Great grandmother was a very close dear friend with Mr Boxhall and I have a lot of postcards and letters to my great grandmother from him. My Great grandmother was born in England and moved to the United States at age 15. My grandmother said that my great grandmother called Mr Boxhall her Beau. I also had a distant cousin on the Titanic named Daniel Warner Marvin II. Who was coming back from his honeymoon. His wife and unborn child did survive but unfortunately Daniel did not. Daniel and I share the same surname.

She died at the age of 90 and her ashes were scattered where the ship sank.

This will sound cold, but TRUTH often does! ...MEN are suppose to die so that Woman and Children Live. That IS the way of things.
