Torque Alley Garage
Добавлен 15 июн 2020
For the last decade, there’s been a grease-monkey doing all sorts of revivals, playing with classic cars & trucks and any auto related things in a small town in Iowa. After figuring out how to operate a camera, some of these events are now documented. These are the stories.

1947 Ford 2N - Tractor Tuesday! Rescue, Road Trip, Maintenance & Mowing
In this episode of Torque Alley Garage, I take my square body Chevy out to a farm and attempt to drag a 1947 Ford 2N red belly tractor & brush hog through the pasture and into daylight - because my dad really likes mowing. We also road trip his OTHER ‘47 2N out to bring the brush hog home at a whopping 11mph. Chainsaw action, cockleburs, gravel travel & knocking down high and heavy brush.

1978 Dodge Sportsman RV Camper Van Revival - Sitting over 2 Decades!
Просмотров 43 тыс.Год назад
In this episode of Torque Alley Garage, I take this musty, vintage 1978 Dodge Sportsman RV Camper and try to perform a redneck revival in the hopes that another Mopar comes back to life. Sitting 20 years, I fight off a nest of wasps, Jimmy attempts to poop inside and i have to ask myself 1) why do I do this? And 2) Will it run & drive? 3) Will I sell my house and park it down by the river? Chec...
1955 Chevy 6400 Dump Truck Revival - Will it Run?
Просмотров 918Год назад
In this episode of Torque Alley Garage, I take this 1955 Chevy 6400 dump truck and try to get it back up and running. Plenty of new parts are already on it, which usually isn’t a good sign. Jimmy the neighbor cat stops by again, I drain 12 quarts of gas out of the oil pan and steal parts from other vehicles I own. #torquealleygarage #revival #chevy #dumptruck #laineywilson #ratrod #hotrod #pati...

1986 Olds Cutlass - Will it Run Again? High School Car Revival
Просмотров 6 тыс.Год назад
In this episode, I finally tackle getting my high school car up and running again after sitting for 5 or 6 years. The longer it sat, the harder it was to think about getting the Cutlass back out and cleaned up. Mismatched wheels, used battery, old gas, years of dirt and dust. What could go right? I see the CLR, but what was the package of Lego looking stuff?
I just bought a 1975 Dodge Travelcraft. I hope it starts. Wish me luck. 🍀
I didn't realize they changed the dashboard in '78 as 77 was different thought it didn't change till the front end changed hmm.
good to see another dude from Iowa! sweet car, good video.
Thanks man! Keep growing that corn. Haha
@@torquealleygarage it's all we've been doing haha. dad and I are frame off restoring his '79 brougham. sunroof, ~400hp 403, 200R4, T-Type posi rear 3.42 gears, frame notch, enough UMI suspension parts to start dropshipping for them. excited for it, hope working on yours is going well.
That’ll like the highway with those gears and a 700r4! Still got mine. I just finished a rat rod build I’ll be putting video together asap!
@@torquealleygarage we'll probably take it on power tour and such. stoked for the next video!!
You're so lucky. Try a 78 big block 400 chrysler. Same sort of configuration. My distubutor is in the front and it's a bitch to get to. Your's has to be 80's at least and nothing like mine.
Hello just come across your video I have a 1978 Dodge trans van mine has a 360 engine in it does yours have a door tag to tell what the original tires are from the manufacturer I want to buy new tires for mine I know they're 65 but I need to know the original size and my sticker is missing I am subscribing to your channel have a good night😊 I have a few videos up when I was working on mine I've been driving it for a daily driver or I guess a couple years now
This is currently owned by a friend of mine - but it had 16.5” tires. I would recommend asking a tire shop what size/load rating to go with based on the GVWR of your van. Truck stops often have scales you can drive across near the diesel island if you aren’t sure what your van weighs. Best of luck!
At least look bad
You'd have alot more luck with a couple of socket sets at least 1/4" and a 3/8" just a thought
I had the same dice knobs and 8ball shifter in my 84 delta brougham in high school. Lol
Hell yeah, good times. High school isn’t *that* far away. Haha
@@torquealleygarage 23 years ago for me. Lol
@@torquealleygarage turns out I still have the dice lock knobs but the 8ball shifter is long gone after I had to replace the column after it was stolen.
@@SHANKDAWGBABY senior year for me was 2013, but this has been mine since I was 15. Hard to believe time flies that way!
@torquealleygarage good deal! Been almost 25 that I've had mine but it's currently in the same position your cutty was but I plan to get her back mobile before fall.
Only the tinest bit jelous maybe
She’s a peach!
New sub here
Appreciate you 👊🏻
Boy that thing is rougher than a night in county. Good luck brother! I’ll be watching.
Had to put on hold for Ratstock 2024 build off with my studebaker!
Не хилая чувак у тебя бич хата на колёсах!! В какую цену?!
Hey man, Diehard Dodge guy here. Easy reference - Small block engines - 318, 340, 360 - have the distributors on the back of the engine, whereas the big blocks - 383, 400 and 440 - have the distributor on the front pointing at an angle. Now, for the normal pickups etc 440s went away in 78, but the RVs hung onto the big blocks a lil longer, 79-80 ish. Your example is a small block, either 318 or 360. 11:46 thats just to fill the engine oil. 13:01 Welp this is why i live where the air hurts my face 7 months a year. Fuck wasps. 14:40 Motorhomes have always been cool to me. Bein able to live wherever you want? Metallica had it right before they went to shit: "Wherever I may Roam" 16:40 Bloody hell, is that the set where the filmed "The Day After"? 18:00 dodges do NOT crank fast to begin with, they sound like a turbine engine winding up. Moreover, your battery leads arent great. 19:39 Care to try pullin wrench at -40? 22:40 - that unit is electronic ignition. The brain box to it is directly behind the battery; the distributor is a mag pickup type. 24:52 AHH YEAA THATS WHAT I LIKE HEARING 27:00 fuel filter will be near the fuel pump OR along the frame. 27:27 Good Kitty 30:00 Small block fuel pumps ride on an eccentric lobe on the camshaft. BIG Block pumps have an intermediate rod that goes from the same came lobe to the fuel pump and are a real pain to keep up while stuffing a pump in. 31:27 - socket, 1"short extention, stubby 3/8" ratchet. Use them to zip the bolts out n in, use a long ratchet to do final torque. Use flex heads/flex extentions if needed. 43:30 - the rattle are the hydraulic valve lifters - she desperately needs an oil change. May want to consider diesel engine oil; i run that in my old mopars now. Stay the fuck away from fram garbage - get Wix or better. 46:30 a delight to see the old gal move! If you find the RV side isnt save-able, you might like what i did with my unit.
Whatever happened with this build?
The c20 is sitting next to the shop, I tracked down the rear suspension replacement parts and have to make some room to carefully drag it inside.
Sick ! Heck yeah
🤘🏻 one step at a time!
Here around the 37:30 mark when you retired for the day, I was left wondering about your proclivity to use Cresent Wrenches. Now I did once hear the phrase "Never rub another man's rhubarb", but even so, does your heritage go back to the venerable paleolithic "Clan of the Round Nuts"? Maybe folks just call you "Nuts", as a reminder? By the way, I'm subbing in hopes you find what you were meant to restore, a short bus.🤣
When I was a young fella starting off in a truck shop, we had a few phrases we tossed around. “If you wanted it round, I’m already one step ahead of you.” My personal favorite was, “Crank it til you snap it off, then just back it off a half-turn.” Appreciate the sub, I’ve got another Mopar sitting on-deck that I will be getting to with better weather!
This was cool
Appreciate your support! Glad you enjoyed it
Olha a buzina! 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
Im here for the Rv restoration and the Cutlass Restoration would like to see you go all out on the two🔥💪👍
The RV is back home with a friend of mine, he is on the fence about van life or keeping it as a weekend camper. The Cutlass will have a new transmission this year and front suspension, it needs to be back out on the road! Thanks for watching!
New Sub👍
I want to see you restore that Cutlass interior and sunroof and i love the first rims on the back with the holes we want More some engine upgrades maybe a turbo like GNX Regal Cutlass is growing in popularity again 💪🔥👍
That's probably original mileage, most motorhomes of that era didn't get a lot of miles on them. I have a 76 Dodge Tioga motorhome that only has 58,000 thousand miles on it.
Sweet! It’s wild how many folks still have these Dodge motorhomes. Thanks for the info and watching!
best car diagnostic video ever lol
Appreciate the watch and comment! I’ve got another video I’ve been working on, coming up soon. Hope ya catch that one too!
All of your Chrysler small blocks have the engine size written on the side of the block...passenger side. On Chrysler B block big blocks you can find the engine size on a flat embossment in front of the drivers side head, The RB big blocks will have an embossment in front of the intake manifold near the distributor. The fuel pumps can be removed using a short 3/8 drive extension, and a short socket using a ratchet. The easiest way to identify the 360 from the 318 if they have 2 barrel carburetors is that the 360 has the larger of the two, the 318 2 barrel looks like a 1 barrel. One thing to note about a 360 is that it is an interference engine, and like many other manufacturers they had nylon timing gears from the factory which were only good for 60,000 miles. Great video, thank you for sharing. If ever you decide to tear down a Chrysler engine, look closely at the webbing for the mains, and the size of the main bolts, they are much beefier that the other manufacturers.
Really appreciate the information! Always like hearing about new things to keep in my back pocket for future reference. There’s actually another Mopar on my list this spring. This info will be really handy! Thanks for watching!
she runs! Good job trouble shooting it!
Thanks for the support!
Liked, commented and subbed to help with the algorithm. Looooove that Cutlass, looking forward to more cutlass content! check out my 1986 2 door Caprice I just got, 50k original miles. Need to bring her back to life!
Appreciate you! 👊🏻 Transmission is getting swapped this year and there’s a mini spool floating around SOMEWHERE in my garage. G body for the win!
My grandpa bought one similar called the Dodge Trans-Van manufactured in Wellington Kansas. 440 motor with automatic tranny. We drove from Ks. up through Vancouver Canada and back through Dakotas when I was a kid.
That’s awesome! My best memories are riding around with my grandpa in his 89 caravan across North Dakota
Hola que tal,soy de argentina y quería preguntar si saben de alguna página Dodge dónde pueda buscar alguna Dodge sportman motorhome en venta desde ya muchas gracias.

I had a 36 5w coupe... wish I never got rid of it
Had to put this one on the back burner for a build-off but I’m going to be getting back to it. Really love the 5w coupes! Was it this rough or in better shape?
@@torquealleygarage No mine was in beautiful shape , especially surprising since it lived it's whole life in PA. until I picked it up. The guy I sold it to restored it to pristine condition , although I lost track of it & not really sure where she is now.
@evojoe67 there’s a few I’ve sold over the years that I wonder where they are and what kind of shape now
@@torquealleygarage I'm going to upload a video picture montage to my channel , it'll have a pic of my 36 & a pic of what the guy did to it that I found ... you should check it out 😃
@evojoe67 absolutely let me know when you do!
FYI, those also sometimes have a second battery under the driver side body for all the extra things it needs to run.
I got an 86 chevy G30 Hi-cube this year. I'm slowly tuning it up and getting the engine all good then its going to be the interior. I love seeing these old square body vans getting makeovers.
At one time I had an all white G-30 1986 Chevy van, it was awesome! Glad somebody is still showing them some love too!
I’m pretty sure your camper van came new as a dually. Look up late 70s early 80s Dodge trans van to see what they look like. I just got an 81 that I’m remodeling. For me, the size is perfect for one or two people , not too big and not too small. Good luck with yours.
Thanks for watching!
without watching further,i will subscribe if the shag is pink
Shame it was parked for a bad fuel pump. 😢
It’s now back on the road and a friend of mine is planning on doing work to it next spring!
Originally, all of the R VS came with a 440! Unless you wanted a V6. But the 440 was phased out on all Dodge vehicles in 1978, so if this is a 78 , you would have the low end. HP440 f looking at your hands next to the passenger side valve cover, it is too narrow to be a.440. That will be a .360. The .318's though the workhorse for dodge, wouldn't be equiped with this RV because of the weight and it has a 1 ton under carrage.
Thanks for the info!
Where are you out of, i live in Washington Iowa, built lots of rat rods im friends with Cody to!
About 10 minutes away from Cody. Small world!!
Lol that wasnt the transmission lol thats oil. Tran on inside😂
My grandfather had pretty the same van except it was white and had big burgundy stripes over the hood and down both sides all the way to the back, and in big letters said "Trans Van" (I believe in your case the wheel base wasn't changed because it was the same as my grandpa's) Trans Van must have been ordered with a little different layout but still had the huge side windows. He started taking me in the woods hunting when I was 5yrs old up until I was 9yrs old when he passed, I'm 42 now. I thank him every day for teaching me how to be a man, have respect, handle firearms, those couple years we spent together was the best memories in my entire life, I thank God every day for putting that man in my life when I needed guidance, damn sure miss the guy❤
Wow, I appreciate you sharing your memories! Thanks for watching, I hope it brought back happy times!
It's a holley 2210 carburetor. You can get rebuild kits from holley.
I have a 1978 Dodge Trans-van 😂 i lived in it for 16 years. Mine is dually . The size of motor is on block. Right above the starter. Probably a 360 with a 727 transmission. I now live in a 1976 Dodge, Champion motor home. Peace and love people 🙏✌️
✌🏻 that’s awesome! Appreciate you watching, keep on vannin’!
My grandpa had one with 440 .
I just bought a 89 Chevy 19 ft MH. I lived in a minivan for 2 years but need to stand up when i take a leak in the middle of the night. I hope to live in mine as long as you have . Gives me hope!

I'm trying to figure out what car that grill comes from.
I had a hard time finding that out. Might be a 300 grille?
