SH4 is my second favorite SH game (2,4,3,1). This is a very fair review and i agree the game is a need of more polish. SH4 is def the creepiest SH and the scariest imo.

Eileen was really under-utilised storywise imo. I think she’s great but she doesn’t seem to do all that much. Also the burping nurses are the best.

Silent Hill 4 is fantastic. If I were a little title clicking drone that's all I'd have to say. Also I agree 4 would have benefit the most. Certainly feels like there would be a LOT of QoL improvements along with better presentation.

Of course silent hill 4 is great!

dont care what anyone says, Silent Hill 4 was terrible. i was in my early 20s when it was released... and still to this day, it simply doesnt compare to Silent Hill 1-3. Silent Hill 3 was my pinnacle of the series as it was a direct sequel to part 1. Silent Hill 2 wasnt that awesome to me (unlike popular opinion), but it still felt like Silent Hill regardless of story. Playing SH4 when it came out, I was NOT impressed by it, nor did i have fun with it. the game simply didnt have the same feel or atmosphere as the first 3 and really felt like a completely different game from the main series. ive forced myself to replay it a few times over the last 20 odd years, and i still get the same feel... its just not fun or enjoyable.

It's a fantastic game, despite the jank. Like Siren, it managed to frighten me with the unkillable ghost enemies. By not providing advance explanation of what they are and the rules they work by - SH4 left the ghosts to be an unpleasant shock.

I hope 4 is remade.

Great video! I think sh4 has genuinely some great Idea but the execution, man, is really weak.

It IS great. There’s so much lore and drama included. There’s so much to unpack. I really don’t see how it’s THAT different from SH1-3. But I get it. Where I found roses you found thorns with a rose at the end.

Silent Hill 4 is a great game on par with the other Team Silent classics, period.

Thank you for acknowledging that the first half of SH3 is pretty sucky. It really hindered my enjoyment of that game, I don't think its the masterpiece everyone says it is. Great video. Ghosts most definitely should've been killable.

Funny that out of all the games silent hill 4 gave me the most nightmares because I lived in apartments for most of my life. Sure it’s flawed but man they nailed the atmosphere and horror of being trapped in your own home so brilliantly.

16:06 this exact moment is the first thing I think of when I think of SH4. Over time, it has diminished my impression of the game considerably. When you compare the nurses and their setting here to those in SH2, it's hard to figure out what went wrong.

The best story period. Its intricate, alluring, mysterious, modern, emotional, etc its has all the elements and it works great

SH4 was a great game, was it perfect no. should SH4 get a remake most definitely, SH Origins, SH1, and also SH3, remake them all, i'm tired of remakes like alot of people and agree with where in the hell are new IPs but when we do get new IPs from any company its a hit and miss rather it's slop or just okay with only one or two great titles in between but mostly its been a miss so bring on the remakes and great video man well done

Keeping the room radio on can warn you when there’s nasties around. As long as the room was clean I still regenerated… really really slowly.

Watch the video where I found a way to run cutscenes ending on the game engine there is a chance that in the future we will be able to see these videos in high quality

Those who worship PT should play SH4. Kojima ""borrowed"" heavily from older SH games, but SH4 has some very interesting scares (especially in the apartment) that PT basically lifts from.

First and favorite silent hill game, I would like them to remake it and put a spin on it. Instead of playing as Henry, make it first person like PT/RE 7 and let the player role play just being the tenant. Like you are an unlucky soul of the room.

I spent a lot of my young adult years suffering from my agoraphobia(acute aversion), locked up in my own room, barely coming out for anyone or anything. ( Only ate once a day, late at night when everyone was asleep in my house, so I mean that literally lol) Silent Hill 4 is one of my favorite games because it feels like it was tailor-made for me. Not in every regard, but the overarching themes of longing for intimacy, being trapped in an endless series of rooms(due to the feeling of having to self isolate), feeling like an outsider looking in, and almost like you're a voyeur because you can't quite fit into what you're seeing in any realistic manner. The feeling that no matter how much you bang, scream, no one will ever hear you even though they're directly visible, completely tangible. It was really therapeutic playing it over again, in my later, isolated, years. And speaking objectively, the game just has potential. 😅

it really doesn't need a remake... I feel bad for game devs, instead of getting to be creative and make new things we got every mf with a RUclips channel crying about remaking the same shit from 20 years ago. Let it go!

If this game ever were to get a remake I think they should change how Walter reacts to you later in the game depending on if you ran from him or tried to fight him off through the levels. The hunter being the hunted and Walter becoming scared of Henry by the time he's in the apartment area near end game.
