I spent a lot of my young adult years suffering from my agoraphobia(acute aversion), locked up in my own room, barely coming out for anyone or anything. ( Only ate once a day, late at night when everyone was asleep in my house, so I mean that literally lol) Silent Hill 4 is one of my favorite games because it feels like it was tailor-made for me. Not in every regard, but the overarching themes of longing for intimacy, being trapped in an endless series of rooms(due to the feeling of having to self isolate), feeling like an outsider looking in, and almost like you're a voyeur because you can't quite fit into what you're seeing in any realistic manner. The feeling that no matter how much you bang, scream, no one will ever hear you even though they're directly visible, completely tangible. It was really therapeutic playing it over again, in my later, isolated, years. And speaking objectively, the game just has potential. 😅
Really cool to hear about other people's experiences with this game. :) I also love your interpretation of SH4 and Henry's character, at first he starts of as disconnected and passive at the beginning of the game, someone who doesn't have much control in the things that happen around him and can't really do much to help himself and the others around him. He was just sort of a witness to the events without having much involvement in them, but as you play through the game and learn more about the events, Henry slowly becomes someone who used to be passive, into a more active character, less confused, more involved and now has some control of the situation, and by the end was able to help others, Eileen (and even Walter in a sense) in a meaningful way.
If this game ever were to get a remake I think they should change how Walter reacts to you later in the game depending on if you ran from him or tried to fight him off through the levels. The hunter being the hunted and Walter becoming scared of Henry by the time he's in the apartment area near end game.
You are ignoring that Walter isn't scare of anything,he's determinated to complete the Ritual. At best,in a possible remake,Walter should change tactics anytime he gets his ass beaten by Henry.
I loved SH 4, I think it would benefit from a remake if done correctly, fixing all the little issues it has, like the inventory system and a couple other things.❤
Those who worship PT should play SH4. Kojima ""borrowed"" heavily from older SH games, but SH4 has some very interesting scares (especially in the apartment) that PT basically lifts from.
Funny that out of all the games silent hill 4 gave me the most nightmares because I lived in apartments for most of my life. Sure it’s flawed but man they nailed the atmosphere and horror of being trapped in your own home so brilliantly.
16:06 this exact moment is the first thing I think of when I think of SH4. Over time, it has diminished my impression of the game considerably. When you compare the nurses and their setting here to those in SH2, it's hard to figure out what went wrong.
First and favorite silent hill game, I would like them to remake it and put a spin on it. Instead of playing as Henry, make it first person like PT/RE 7 and let the player role play just being the tenant. Like you are an unlucky soul of the room.
Ugh, while i do know henry has the personality of a brick and may easily be replaced, making silent hill 4 1st person outside of the apartment segments seems like a bad idea. I would rather prefer if they would just expand more on henry and his interactions with walter, or just straight up make you play as eileen which fits the whole idea of walter being an stalker enemy.
SH4 was a great game, was it perfect no. should SH4 get a remake most definitely, SH Origins, SH1, and also SH3, remake them all, i'm tired of remakes like alot of people and agree with where in the hell are new IPs but when we do get new IPs from any company its a hit and miss rather it's slop or just okay with only one or two great titles in between but mostly its been a miss so bring on the remakes and great video man well done
Watch the video where I found a way to run cutscenes ending on the game engine there is a chance that in the future we will be able to see these videos in high quality
it really doesn't need a remake... I feel bad for game devs, instead of getting to be creative and make new things we got every mf with a RUclips channel crying about remaking the same shit from 20 years ago. Let it go!
I totally understand this sentiment and I completely agree with you that game developers should be free to create their own stories instead of rehashing old ideas just to make a profit out of people's nostalgia (which is unfortunately how things have always been even with movie remakes since it really does make a profit and people pay money for them). At the end of the day I don't think what I say will influence much of Konami's decisions, its all up to the success of SH2 Remake and the demand of the "majority" of people. I see the SH2 remake as a demo for Bloober Team to gain people's trust again, and work as proof that they are capable of creating a great horror experience (I'm looking forward to their new IPs). This video was less of "me explaining how and why SH4 should be remade" and more of just an excuse for me to talk about the original SH4 since its a game I like so much.
They already made a remake of sh2 (which many do agree it was unecessary) and then there is you, judging others for wanting a remake for the game that DID actually needed a remake? Be fr.
@@based-ys9umas someone who did actually played the og, blooper team did a decent job. Did i think it live up to the og? No, and i do have my fair amount of criticism about it, but the game is far from being a bad game.
Silent Hill 4 is great.
exactly
It's great, but not fun. Maybe it's not supposed to be fun. But, I would like to see Bloobers take on it.
@johnzarek3628 bloober team has ruined enough games already.

why do you kids have so many mental issues? none of this crap was a thing not that long ago
The best story period. Its intricate, alluring, mysterious, modern, emotional, etc its has all the elements and it works great

Add different endings that depend on said decisions and you got me.

I’ve made Reddit post advocating for this game to be remade. It genuinely deserves it.
Those who worship PT should play SH4. Kojima ""borrowed"" heavily from older SH games, but SH4 has some very interesting scares (especially in the apartment) that PT basically lifts from.
Keeping the room radio on can warn you when there’s nasties around.
As long as the room was clean I still regenerated… really really slowly.
Wait, really? I thought the regeneration stopped completely the second that fan hit the floor!
@ maybe it’s a difficulty setting thing?
You need more subs. Deserve more anyway

With better controls than hitboxes yes
And keep room of angel in it
How do we petition for this

Its absolutely criminal that bloopers team was given silent hill 2
it really isnt. the game was great despite that teams horrible track record. get over it.
