Paris really need to install contactless payments on their public transport network, it would make life so much easier.
You will get robbed on the metro. Be vigilant
Absolutely, it's important to stay aware, keep valuables in pockets and hands in pockets, etc, but we also don't want to fear monger. We know people who have taken the metro for decades and never been robbed.
This seems confusing; I just came from London and rode the tubes 60% of the time!
Ligne 9 represent!
As a fan of the Paris metro, one thing that sets the London tube apart is accessibility. In general the UK is miles ahead when it comes to disabled access etc. and the tube is no exception. It may be very hard to adapt some of the smaller, older metro stations (I'm no civil engineer) but the RATP needs to pull its finger out and get on with it.
Yeah Paris is so behind. It's really disappointing they didn't use the Olympics/Paralympic games as an opportunity to rework some infrastructure.
Tip more than 2 euros, thanks - your sommelier 😂
Would love to know what your experience is with French locals tipping (not tourists) have you found they often tip much more than we've suggested?
Natural is to wine as IPA is to beer. Too trendy. Sometimes amazing. Often too much.
We love natural wine! There are so many options and we're rarely disappointed, but it's still a really wide and varied designation, a certain flavor/taste is never guaranteed.
Are the church services in English?
Sure some do. We don't know much about it, but perhaps this article will help? htcml.com/english-speaking-churches-in-paris/
Nice explanation and easy to understand 👏👍
Glad you found it helpful!
Very helpful! Will definitely use your advice come June 2025😉.
Glad it was helpful!
Extra tip : Arc de Triomphe is free for European citizens 25 and under !
Yess!
Awesome video. I always watch your videos when long for Paris and have Fernweh. Wish I could be there. Hope you have a wonderful day. Thank you for all you do.
Thank you!
Please try the French bastard !!!
Thanks for the heads-up about the vegan donuts, will definitely be adding that place to the list on the next trip!
They're amazing
Have the traditional cafés in Paris been disappearing? Great video but I didn’t see any sidewalk cafés and the idea of going to a chain coffee shop - like noir - in France is kind of depressing. I’m sure however that the coffee and pastries are good.
Noir is one of many specialty coffee shops popping up. Paris has been a black hole for coffee for a long time, and it's great to be able to get a quality one now. Don't worry - there are still tons of classic beautiful cafés and terraces to sit at and watch the world go by. It's a deep part of the culture here. :) We just won't be recommending them for coffee. But perhaps for a lemonade or a hot chocolate; it's still a quintessential French experience.
@@paris.in.my.pocket that’s really interesting! The cafe coffee used to be unmatched. Good to know they’re still thriving though.
Jay awesome video as always. Until the arc of triumph scene, I was like “watch out Jay you’re being followed 😮”.
I love you. Ending up at donuts. Perfect.
one american dumb video why not 1 hour in paris with no money . and this guy pretend and assume thats possible one more scam youtuber
for a minute, i thought you had a stalker !! 🤣😂 By the way, incredible video !
Such a fun video. Loving the adventure mode! Thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great video, even though the idea of only having 6 hours in Paris is tragic! 😃
Definitely recommend more!
You have an intern?! Damn Jay, you are da boss now! 😂❤
We have a whole tiny team :) And love what interns bring to the table!
@@paris.in.my.pocket That is amazing, Jay! Tell the team they are doing a fantastic job keeping us enthralled with Paris! All the way from Washington DC!🇺🇸❤
I found that the entry door can be slow in opening and so I thought I hadn’t placed the pass correctly and so I put it again. That didn’t work because you can’t use one pass for more than 1 entry at a time. fortunately the man n the ticket boith got everything straightened out
Glad he could help you get it sorted!
Very Bourne Identity, tourist version. 😏
Thank you! I followed the advice from your travel during the Olympic video. I downloaded the apps you recommended. It was a breezy experience to travel thru the Paris Olympic on a layover. I saved the hotel. I enjoyed the vibe during the games. It felt safer and cleaner during the games. Well done, Paris 🎉
Glad it was helpful!
Bro take off your shirt!!!
Too chilly lately!
Super fun, great job Jay! 🥇⏳🚅
Thanks! 😃
My anxiety would never let me past easy.
That's why it's an option :D But maybe opt for a full 2 weeks instead!
Well, that was fun! I'd still be a nervous wreck about the time. Ha Ha
Definitely worth leaving extra time on either end!
What a great tip for a photo opportunity of the Sacre Ceur thanks Jay!!! I hope to implement it in my next trip to Paris...
Glad it was helpful!
What a great video! Inspiring. Donuts quite yummy!
So good!
What a great video man.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Terrific video!!
Thank you!
Crikey you must have been shattered after that. Great video Jay. Yes the interior of the sacré cœur is a must. It’s fantastic!
It's tiring - thankfully most people will be able to sleep on a plane after!
Got my copy and love it. In Europe right now. Heading to Paris first week of September. Staying in the 12th and glad to read Jay’s opinions.
Thank you!
Do you have to open the RER or metro app before you scan to get on the train
Nope! Just have your phone unlocked (it actually worked for me without unlocking it as well but that was on Android)
That was an inspiring layover visit in Paris. So much to see and so little time, but you show how it is done. Nice ! BTW, there’s a good Lebanese “bio” ice cream shop not far from where you were, on rue Tardieu near Place Suzanne Valadon in Montmartre (another on rue Rambuteau in the 3e), Glace Bachir. Have you checked ‘em out?
Thanks for the tip! Will have to check it out
Love this video! Thank you for sharing your city and knowledge. ❤
Glad you enjoyed it!
just came back from Paris 2024, I would like to go back again. I missed few spots :(
Paris is worth several trips!
I’ve followed Jay for several years - when his Paris in my Pocket was a pdf …. His knowledge, insight and perspective are second to none. This post is exceptional and bang on - as ALL his advice is. Great job Jay - been to Paris 5 times in 6 years and still wait for Jays posts - ahhh I’ve gotta get back!
Thank you!!
See Paris…the video game. I see hints are enabled. Is there an option to change the difficulty level? (Love the ‘casual’ crew following 😄)
👍😎
No kidding, the second this was release was exactly when I checked into my apartment for the next month here in Paris!
Woohoo!
Can be done Jay but pretty stressful!
Depends on how long the layover is :D All the details are in the blog and pdf!
The last time I was in Paris was 2021, on a 6hour layover and I even had enough time to visit a few places I hadn't seen before... definitely enough time, especially if you're a brisk walker (and provided people move to the right side of escalators).
Amazing!
Wow! That was work for you - thanks so much! Very fun and tension filled.
Such drama!
I appreciate all of the hard work you put into this! Thank you!
Thanks for watching!
That’s the emptiest RER B I’ve ever seen! Every time I’ve taken it, it’s been crammed with standing room only.
Sometimes we get lucky!
Donuts at the Airport sounds fun.
They're the best
