As a Londoner, I like the Paris Metro and feel it’s still the best way to get around Paris (especially during fashion weeks or any other major event). However I will say the London tube is much less complicated to use as there is only 1 payment system between the Tube, the buses and national rail. As a visitor, you only need your credit card to tap in at the start of your journey and then tap out when you exit at your destination (except for buses you only tap in once). None of the setting-up of Navigo cards, apps (which do not support iOS) or queuing at a ticket machine (where there’s a chance of getting pick-pocketed). And having the Elizabeth line is a game changer with only one fast train that gets you from Heathrow into the city centre in 40 mins. So sorry Jay, I will respectfully disagree with you! 🇬🇧

While it's a slight pain to get and the Monday to Sunday requirement is also a pain, it can end up being so much easier since it's all zones and includes rer. For tourists using the metro at least 4 days it's worth it. But I agree with you navigo easy is relatively easy especially for first time.
Love this update! I was just there last summer, and going again in a few weeks. I clicked so fast! Just a video idea, you can take it or leave it: Next time you’re in London it would be cool to do a comparison video of the London Underground and the Paris metro. That's a very useful video aubout the metro in Paris, but I have tell my experiences with the Paris Metro. 1. While I stayed in Paris during my easter holidays, I used a Navigo decouverté weekly ticket. It costs only 30,75 euros for the zones 1-5 and less if you want only a few of them. Negatively, you need a picture, but you don't have to worry that your Navigo card is empty. Another big point is, that the weekly ticket is only valid from monday to sunday. 2. For some journeys, the RER is very useful, especially in the rush hours. The RER trains are very big and you have a big chance to get a seat. But the RER is only useful if you want to travel a big distance (e. g. to la Défence, Versailles), but you have to check the destination, stops and the four letter train name before you enter a RER train. Every RER line part runs usually every 15 minutes during the day and on the main parts of the line every few minutes. DON'T BE AFRAID OF THE RER. 3. The trams are also a good extention of the Metro network, especially T3a & b. Trams are a lot slower than the metro, because you don't have to walk a long time to the platforms and the tram lines opperate also every few minutes. I hope my comment helps some people!
Perfect. I arrive on a Monday and leave the following Tues., is it best for me to get the Weekly Navigo at CDG or can it be purchased at any Metro in Paris? Thanks in advance! What is the size of the picture needed?
@@sanjulienne Hello, i hope I can help you with your problems: 1. The Navigo decouverté is available like the Navigo easy card, at any Metro Station Ticket Office in Paris. 2. I think for you it's the best when you buy a weekly and two daily tickets (if you take public tranport a lot), but the weekly ticket is worth it anyways. You feel more free, when you have a weekly ticket, because you take public transport a lot and see more of Paris. 3. The picture must be 2.5 x 4 cm, but yo can take any picture and cut it to tha size. In addition: The weekly Navigo ticket is valid on the Metro, buses, tram, RER and transilien. So you can jump on any transport mode you see and just go wherever you want.
@@TSSaale I got the weekly in 2022 but made the purchase at CDG when I landed, I didn't use a picture (was that because of where it was purchased or is this a new requirement?) we are there eight days (leave on day nine) so the weekly will work best. Thanks!!
@@sanjulienne I think its a new requirememt, but i'm not sure... And you have to buy or bring a photo when you buy a Navigo card. Btw it costs 75€ when you don't have a photo (self-experience)
I think the Paris metro introduced the practice of the announcement voice repeating the stop in a slightly different intonation to avoid people just zombieing though it. I've heard it in Berlin recently, as well.
great video....i've lived and worked in NYC and all of the tips about riding the metro, hold true for any major transportation vehicle. especially in major cities like NYC and Paris...thanks and i'm looking forward to more videos from paris in my pocket...
Dude! Your video rocks! I’m just In Paris for a day today from Chicago and your video was so informative and cool! I wish you had it for other countries too 😊
The very first Jay Swanson video I watched years ago was on riding the Metro. I was hooked. Now it is full circle watching the updated version today on the new channel. Quite a lot has happened in the ensuing years. So much to be proud of congratulations.
When I was in Paris, I was learning about the metro at night through Google so that during the day I knew how to get to places. I wish I had this video, it would have made it so much easier for me. Merci beaucoup, vraiment! 😊✌️
in facr RER is probably one of the most impressive system of the world and it is sensible for exemple RER A transport 50k people per hour per direction inside Paris at peak hour it's a word record i think
@@thunderbolt8409 Closer to the 60k mark tbf. You got a train every 2 minutes, with maximum of 2,6k passengers, youll get around 60-70k people per hour per direction
Hey, great video ! Just some advice from a parisian about 13:10, Metro doesnt transfer tickets with the Bus/Tram ! A rule of thumb is you can connect on underground lines on the same tickets (like Metro to RER) or above ground (Bus to Tram) but not between the two, you'll need to spend another ticket, sorry 😅. Looking forward to seeing you all here !
Exactly! Navigo transfers but tickets don't, there's a warning in the video, and thank you for bringing it up in the comments as well, because it's so important!
Ah, really good point! Navigo subscriptions will transfer, that's what Jay means in this video. t+ tickets on a Navigo Easy are the exception, and behave the same way as paper tickets. This is a great clarification, thank you for bring it up!
I would really love that map feature on the tube in London because sometimes you aren't close to a map when its packed and you spend so much time trying to see where you are on the map
I totally agree about the Navigo Easy card - it’s definitely the one to use. I remember getting told off for sitting on the fold-down chairs at rush hour lol. Thanks Jay for a great comprehensive video and yeah I agree too that the Metro beats the Tube ! 😮
Hello from the UW of the US! The whole reason I started watching you channel from the first video to today was because I was coming to Paris and needed some tips. I have watched you go through struggles and as a fellow RUclipsr, understanding the whole journey was interesting to watch. I look forward to both channels videos and think this is great! Look forward to possibly London adventures! Such helpful info! Oh, & when we were there, my hubby almost got rolled going into the metro! So yeah, look out for people flanking you! My hubby made it through the turn style before they got him! Wild! We loved our trip…really! Thanks for the new channel! Be well Jay! Cheers!
Really enjoyed the approach and feel of the video! I have been in France for 4 years but didn't grow up with public transport & I think metro etiquette is one of the most underdiscussed topcis about travel. The only suggestion I would add to your video on that note would be backpack etiquette - e.g. if you have a really stuffed bag, holding it in front of you in your hands/by your feet instead of keeping it on your back can save space. Looking forward to more vids!
Great point! Would definitely advise backpacks on the front for many reasons. We probably wouldn't ever advise putting it on the ground, as it's much easier to steal, but the front is a great way to avoid being pickpocketed, too.
Great information! Thank you. I’ll be traveling to Paris solo. Although I’m used to NYC subways, this will be very helpful for navigating the Metro. Another great video!
Another great video! I got a Navigo card in 2019 (the kind that requires a picture), brought it home as a souvenir, and was pleasantly surprised that it still worked in 2023.
When I was in Paris last February (I've been there dozens of times over the last 35 years) I arrived jet-lagged and accidentally loaded 20 Métro tickets for small children on my Navigo. I was controlled of course-first time ever-but the woman was polite and pleasant, after she asked me where my small children were. I paid my €35 and bought a new Navigo Easy.
As a French living in the Parisian region, I gotta admit, the fact that you exited Oberkampf from the Jean-Pierre Timbaud exit mind-blew me, since I went there on the day I'm writing this message for its video game shop street that starts right at that exit ! 😂
Great video Jay... was hoping for you to do an update on how to use the metro especially with the upcoming Olympics... this was really helpful thank youl!!!
Jay you don’t need me to tell you but you’ve crushed this metro instruction video! I’ve been to Paris before and on the way back. Needed a refresher but you hit it all! We visit soon so this probably won’t be out before we get there but one about weather it’s best to take the metro or do a group tour for some day trips if you don’t want to deal with car rental. We don’t speak French so🤷🏽♀️
As a fan of the Paris metro, one thing that sets the London tube apart is accessibility. In general the UK is miles ahead when it comes to disabled access etc. and the tube is no exception. It may be very hard to adapt some of the smaller, older metro stations (I'm no civil engineer) but the RATP needs to pull its finger out and get on with it.
Bonjour. I remember the paper ticket carnets (looks like they still have those) and the old / discontinued Carte Orange - which you did need a photo for. They had a photo booth you could hop into - not too hard - plus it made a cool souvenir. Also, everything you said about the RER lines up with my experiences, though it can be useful for certain trips out of town. Ok, now I'm waiting for your coffee guide... :-)
Just a heads up that my partner and I took your advice re: buying the ticket directly from the people at the booth and they redirected us to the machines!
For those coming for the Olympics, part of me doubts any of you will be able to get a hotel or airbnb in Paris proper, do you will be in the suburbs and will need to take the RER, the Navigo Easy DOES NOT work on the RER if you're outside of Zone 1 (if you are in Zone 1 and happen to want to take the RER instead, you can use the Navigo Easy. And why the F was that card so flimsy, lol, mine is hard plastic with a microchip on it, lol), or Paris proper, you will need a ticket for the specific station you are heading to. If Jay does a video on the RER, which I hope he does at some point, because there is more to life than inside the périphérique, lol. My other tip is especially if you are not in a hurry and don't have an appointment or something, when you get off the train and onto the platform, try to move out of the way of the normal commuters and pause for a minute or 2, the worst thing you can do is get distracted and get caught up in the natural flow of the crowds, don't do it, especially if you don't have experience with this kind of public transit or with public transit at all. Take your time, stand back. Look at the signs, especially for where you need to go, it will save a lot of stress and time. It worked for my 2 cousins that were visiting me in France and are from smaller towns in the US and have absolutely no experience with big city public transit.
Actually the hotels and airbnbs are beginning to drop their prices again because of underbookings - seems people are avoiding the city! And thank you for all the other advice, it's all so true :D
Great video, but I'm confused on the relationship between Navigo and Carnet. Does Navigo replace a Carnet so that you just present the Navigo, or do you use the Navigo to purchase a Carnet? I'm used to the Carnet system, but I couldn't really follow your explanation of Navigo.
"Carnet" just means "pack" in this instance. The magnetic cardboard tickets are being phased out. You can no longer buy a carnet of (physical) tickets. The Navigo is the contactless card on which you either have a subscription, a daily, weekly, or monthly pass, or load virtual tickets. Now, when you buy a "carnet", it just means you buy a pack of 10 or 20 virtual tickets that are loaded on your Navigo card or smartphone (NFC equipped). The physical (paper / cardboard) carnet of tickets no longer exists. One way to avoid the temporary Olympic price hike is to use your smartphone and Île-de-France Mobilités app to purchase tickets in advance before the beginning of the price hike period. They will be perfectly valid during the Olympics.
Congratulations again❤. Question and can you do this? What is for Disabled (like me)? How do us disabled ride the Metro? My last trip (3 weeks ago) After going up a stairway as I could not see a lift, I stayed with Uber. (They are great). But spendy. Walking is tough, for me, up and down stairs is dangerously and slow. Aloha 🌴🌴
Hey! This is unfortunately a real issue in Paris, only a few metro stations are accessible for anyone with reduce mobility. Best public transportation in this case is the bus system, and hopefully they'll make progress on the actual metro in the future.
Just left Paris, the metro is the best I have been on. You are so right about Google maps, it was horrible. Will use City Maps on my return trip. Purchased the Navigo Pass for our 8 day visiting. Great video as always.
Small but very important advice : If you don't find signs to your destination (another line or an exit) anymore it very likely means you missed it so you shoukd go back on your trail until you see it. They don't bother putting up signs that are not supposed to need😅
@@briansit762 Although if you're not from the UK you'll get charged fees for using your credit card abroad. So most visitors will just end up using an oyster card anyway
I found that the entry door can be slow in opening and so I thought I hadn’t placed the pass correctly and so I put it again. That didn’t work because you can’t use one pass for more than 1 entry at a time. fortunately the man n the ticket boith got everything straightened out
I will be visiting Paris from August 27th. to 31st. Can anyone answer the following question for me please? If I buy a Navigo Pass with 10 single trips loaded today (July 17th.) on my phone and begin using it when I arrive in Paris in late August?
If you don’t plan to see the Olympic Games, I would definitely advise you to avoid visiting Paris this summer, and report your travel there to another year if you can. Lodging prices will skyrocket, and you will have many security restrictions around the river seine. My best public transport advice in Paris this summer ? Find another destination in France, buy a train ticket from Paris to there and just learn how to get from the airport to the train station. Paris has been there for more than 2000 years, it will still be there next year for you. With brand new metro lines operational. 😉
This is definitely something to think about! However, hotel and airbnb prices have been starting to drop again because they're under booked...but that doesn't make up for the cost of the metro ;)
@@paris.in.my.pocket the cost is not the only issue. For security reasons many bridges and metro stations around the Seine and Olympic sites will be closed, making visiting less easy. This summer is dedicated to the Olympics, it’s just not the better time for other activities.
good to know that citymapper works in paris. i live in new york and it is a life saver. literally! interesting to hear about fares during the olympics. only jesus will know what the logic is behind such plan. am there a few days prior. oh, and yes ... the frenchies have in more ways than one enlightened me with so much knowledge and doable suggestions. mercí. 🌍🏳️🌈
The logic behind the increase was twofold from what I read. Firstly, due to costs. There will be an increase in public transport services, overtime etc. The head of Paris IDF Mobilities stated that this cost should not be bore by Parisians themselves. Second, she said that if you increase the cost during the Olympic games then Parisians would be unwilling to buy tickets at that price, therefore they would buy their tickets beforehand at the cheaper rate. Then when tourists come to Paris, they will be free to buy their tickets as opposed to the normal Parisians and tourists buying tickets at the same time which can cause delays. I may not agree with those points but I can understand the logic behind them.
Yeah unfortunately not all Parisians will probably remember in time, there's no way locals aren't going to bear that burden. It's definitely come as a shock to those of us that live here!
It depends on how you are travelling. If you use the Paris metro, ticket prices are charged by a flat fare per journey. So one journey is one ticket which costs 2.15 euros. This is also the case if you take the RER in Paris city centre for zone 1 only. If you take the RER outside Paris, then you are charged not per journey but by the number of zones you go through. The more zones you go through, the more you are charged.
What should people staying in Paris, but going to Vaires-sur-Marne for rowing and canoe slalom, and canoe sprints do? They have no option but RER, correct?
Absolutely dreading going to paris in a few days because of pickpockets but doing it for my daughter. Most fearful of phone being snacjed while taking pics or figuring out metro, bags being pickpocketed or stolen on metro to airport and large luggage being stolen on the ice train baggage area. I just cant fathome how people do this knowing you may be stranded in a foreign country. I wish these countries could take better action against pickpockets
Hi Shannon, we totally understand your fear, but it's absolutely not worth missing out on incredible travel. So glad you're still going, because you're going to have an amazing time. Maybe do a pep talk to youself each morning in the mirror (our team loves stuff like this!). A basic awareness of people around you and always putting your valuables in and inner, zipped pocket in view should get the job done. And maybe don't use your phone in the metro. Otherwise, you've got this!
OK.. Mr ParisInMyPocket.. how is this better than the London metro? London had oyster before Paris had navigo, oyster is topped up via oyster site.. ticket machines can be used in other langs.. it even has a daily cap..
Hey, Jay. So how does Easy Navigo work with tickets to CDG? Can I add a CDG ticket to it, or do I still need to get a separate ticket? I still have the better part of an old carnet of individual tickets I bought several trips back since I walk most places when I’m in Paris. I also have an unused “antique” ticket from the days before magnetic strips. I took it to a counter once to see if I could exchange it. No, but the agents gathered around and were fascinated. Most were too young ever to have seen a ticket that old.
You'll still need to get a separate ticket for CDG. So cool about the antique ticket! Your other tickets from the old carnet might still be valid- if they don't work they might just need to be re-magnetized which someone at the booth can do.
On Nagivo easy you can load on individual tickets that won't expire, so you can use on multiple trips! And they're good for the bus, too, but not to transfer bus-metro
Any thoughts on using phone tap method directly at fare gates? I've read that they are finally gonna start allowing that for iphones this month and it looks like you can buy the Paris 2024 metro pass directly through the transport app starting in June, so I assume this would have to be digital right?
if you want to be in Paris proper, then your best bet is the 16th or 17th arrondissements, or Neuilly-sur-Seine which has some peaceful places. Unfortunately we aren't very familiar with the La Defense area!
Great video but nooooo what's with all the RER hate! Sure, the ticketing is a bit more complicated for it but it's super reliable and frequent! RER A and D FTW!
Depends on what RER you use, some are not as reliable, and for visitors, it's easier to avoid unless you're staying on the line or need to get to Versailles (talk about unreliable - RER C!)
@@paris.in.my.pocket Can't say I use the C but media hates on it. This was a great video though, super clear for what is a complicated ticketing system!
Thank God for the Navigo easy, the paper tickets are unreliable crap. Also tip for my fellow American compatriots, straight down or up arrow on signs does not mean going up or down, it means go straight 😂 je me fais attraper à chaque fois.
Yes! You'll always want to validate on each transfer, otherwise you can still get fined. Don't worry, it won't use a new ticket, it will register as a transfer.
If you transfer from below the ground to above the ground transports, you'll need to tap the navigo and will be charged another ticket :( Sorry parisian transports are confusing...
Good clarification: If it's a monthly or a weekly unlimited Navigo, you'll still need to validate it, if it's a Navgo Easy with tickets t+, yes it will charge a new ticket!
I want (and need) for October a one week pass, must I get that at the airport upon my arrival from JFK? We arrive on a Monday and will be there until the following Tues. so this will be best.
Hey, 2 options here. Assuming you land at Charles de Gaulle. 1. From the airport, use the RER to go downtown. In doing so, you’ll come across a ticket booth where you’ll buy your pass. Or 2. Heavy luggage, long flight, young children, splurging for a taxi/uber (exact same price by law) into town from the airport. Then you can buy your pass at any subway station next to where you’re staying. Enjoy your stay!
@@CineMiamParis I think my last visit (2022) I had to buy it at CDG (no pic needed) but I understand now I need pics, which I have, good to know I can get the Navigo anywhere now. Thanks!
Mucha surete.
Only within the Paris Ile de France region. For stations outside this are then unfortunately, no you cant. You also cant load point to point tickets onto a navigo card.
The RER is a lot more accessible than the métro. Only M14 is fully accessible in the métro, while the vast majority of RER stations are accessible from street to platform. Tramways on the periphery are also accessible.
They gave me a fine for not having proof of payment while I was out there last month smh 🤦🏻♂️ the little paper must have fallen out my pocket. They went from 50 euros to 35 💶 I believe. They gave so many people tickets (forgot which station I was at) but I was transferring from one line to another. I like Brussels metro better for proof of payment because you can buy a 1 day pass for just 8 💶
You don't need to save proof of payment, you have to present the validated ticket (which I think if what you mean here!), otherwise yes you will get a fine! I'm sorry that happened to you.

@@TSSaale I have a couple of pics I will print out before my trip and have one ready. SO helpful, thanks!!
Always take the stairs at Abbesses, there’s a prize at the end. 🤣🤣🤣
I think the Paris metro introduced the practice of the announcement voice repeating the stop in a slightly different intonation to avoid people just zombieing though it. I've heard it in Berlin recently, as well.
Sooooo helpful. Thank you!
great video....i've lived and worked in NYC and all of the tips about riding the metro, hold true for any major transportation vehicle. especially in major cities like NYC and Paris...thanks and i'm looking forward to more videos from paris in my pocket...
I live in NYC and you are correct.
Right on!
Yay, we love using CityMapper❤ Thanks for adding all then important details.
We had a ton of fun making it!
You are AMAZING! Thank you for all the great videos! Leaving for Paris on Tuesday and I'm very excited! Congrats on becoming a French citizen!
Thank you - and have fun!
Dude! Your video rocks! I’m just In Paris for a day today from Chicago and your video was so informative and cool! I wish you had it for other countries too 😊
Hey Nadine! So glad you found it helpful - many more to come!
This is such a great straight forward metro video - I bring photo students with me and this will be so nice to pass on to them.
So glad!
+1 on the Navigo Easy recommendation
Can't wait! I'm going back in two months, FINALLY! Going to watch several of your videos again to figure out where all I want to go.
We've got you covered!
The very first Jay Swanson video I watched years ago was on riding the Metro. I was hooked. Now it is full circle watching the updated version today on the new channel. Quite a lot has happened in the ensuing years. So much to be proud of congratulations.
Thank you!
When I was in Paris, I was learning about the metro at night through Google so that during the day I knew how to get to places. I wish I had this video, it would have made it so much easier for me. Merci beaucoup, vraiment! 😊✌️
Totally agree with your take on RER. The only problems I had with public transportation was on RER.
in facr RER is probably one of the most impressive system of the world and it is sensible
for exemple RER A transport 50k people per hour per direction inside Paris at peak hour it's a word record i think
@@thunderbolt8409 Closer to the 60k mark tbf. You got a train every 2 minutes, with maximum of 2,6k passengers, youll get around 60-70k people per hour per direction
Calendrical! There’s a 25c word! I just learned something new beyond all of the amazing metro info. Thanks, Jay!
@@paris.in.my.pocket Oh I thought Navigo easy was a way to add t+ tickets on a card, so isn't it the same as physical tickets ?
Ah, really good point! Navigo subscriptions will transfer, that's what Jay means in this video. t+ tickets on a Navigo Easy are the exception, and behave the same way as paper tickets. This is a great clarification, thank you for bring it up!
..so if i transfer from metro to a bus...even within 90 min...it is consisdered as 2 journeys?
Just here to say Thank you!! Just arrived in Paris and your guide and videos are saving the day ❤
Glad you like them!
I would really love that map feature on the tube in London because sometimes you aren't close to a map when its packed and you spend so much time trying to see where you are on the map
It's so useful!
Cheers!
Thanks for this :D Cheers!
Nice explanation and easy to understand 👏👍
Glad you found it helpful!
This was very well done. New subscriber!
Thanks!
Great information! Thank you.
I’ll be traveling to Paris solo. Although I’m used to NYC subways, this will be very helpful for navigating the Metro.
Another great video!
Glad it was helpful!
Navigo can also be installed on your phone and you can buy your tickets digitally on it
Another great video! I got a Navigo card in 2019 (the kind that requires a picture), brought it home as a souvenir, and was pleasantly surprised that it still worked in 2023.
Cool!
A Navigo card lasts for 10 years, so keep it for when you go back to Paris, otherwise you will need to purchase another one for 5 euros.
Good stuff & very well done...best wishes on the new channel! 🏆
Much appreciated!
Very helpful! Will definitely use your advice come June 2025😉.
Glad it was helpful!
I recommend learning the stop before the one you want, so when you see it, you can prepare yourself to exit the next stop.
Helpful tip!
It's easy to fall into that trip! So glad you had a pleasant experience with the woman who fined you
As a French living in the Parisian region, I gotta admit, the fact that you exited Oberkampf from the Jean-Pierre Timbaud exit mind-blew me, since I went there on the day I'm writing this message for its video game shop street that starts right at that exit ! 😂
Love it!
Great video Jay... was hoping for you to do an update on how to use the metro especially with the upcoming Olympics... this was really helpful thank youl!!!
Awesome, so glad you found it helpful!
I really like your informative style ... looking forward to further tips.. Cheers from Melbourne
More to come!
We don’t speak French so🤷🏽♀️
Definitely depends on what the trip is (Normandy - group tours, Versailles - cycling tours, Provins- local train!) :)
This is just brilliant thank you!
Yeah Paris is so behind. It's really disappointing they didn't use the Olympics/Paralympic games as an opportunity to rework some infrastructure.
Ah! That can happen sometimes, but usually they're pretty welcoming.
Ligne 9 represent!
Thanks. I thought maybe I was missing it. Next time I come I Will give a good review Of thw Metro from a disabled view. 🤔🌴🌴
really good Jay! Thanks
Just left Paris, the metro is the best I have been on. You are so right about Google maps, it was horrible. Will use City Maps on my return trip. Purchased the Navigo Pass for our 8 day visiting. Great video as always.
Thank you!
Small but very important advice :
If you don't find signs to your destination (another line or an exit) anymore it very likely means you missed it so you shoukd go back on your trail until you see it.
They don't bother putting up signs that are not supposed to need😅
Explications parfaites 👍
Merci!
Great advice! You can also use your mobile phone as your method of entry.
For samsung yes, but I believe iphones don't work yet?
@@paris.in.my.pocket Yes, iPhone still left out right now 😥but eventually 👍
Not going to lie I still think London is easier. lol.
Because it is: as a visitor you take your credit card out, you tap in, the gate opens… voila!
@@briansit762 Although if you're not from the UK you'll get charged fees for using your credit card abroad. So most visitors will just end up using an oyster card anyway
I found that the entry door can be slow in opening and so I thought I hadn’t placed the pass correctly and so I put it again. That didn’t work because you can’t use one pass for more than 1 entry at a time.
fortunately the man n the ticket boith got everything straightened out
Glad he could help you get it sorted!
Paris really need to install contactless payments on their public transport network, it would make life so much easier.
I will be visiting Paris from August 27th. to 31st. Can anyone answer the following question for me please? If I buy a Navigo Pass with 10 single trips loaded today (July 17th.) on my phone and begin using it when I arrive in Paris in late August?
You can do this, yes!
Thanks for that. 👍
Paris in my pocket does not appear on the iPhone app store - rather Zara and Stocks come up.
Paris in my Pocket is an interactive website, rather than a stand alone app. You can access it from any browser :)
Are there different prices for zones / journeys / particular stops? Sorry if I've missed this question somewhere!
If you're outside the city, you'll definitely want to RER into town!
Yes the suggestion is to take the rer a to Bussy st Georges
Will have to compare them sometime...
Did I hear an Amen to City Mapper ? Amen
It’s navigo easy it’s has to be used all in one day .? After authenticated .? And it’s good for the bus also .? Thx 😊
On Nagivo easy you can load on individual tickets that won't expire, so you can use on multiple trips! And they're good for the bus, too, but not to transfer bus-metro
Ok thx
Fun thing: other youtube channels recommend using RER trains, instead of old metro trains 😂
The RER trains are older than most the of metro carraiges XD It's not either or haha!
Any thoughts on using phone tap method directly at fare gates? I've read that they are finally gonna start allowing that for iphones this month and it looks like you can buy the Paris 2024 metro pass directly through the transport app starting in June, so I assume this would have to be digital right?
That sounds logical... Paris in my Pocket will do some investigating! It's been a very useful method for samsung users for a while now
Heeeeeeeey just found your account! Great work! New sub! 😀 Will test citymapper

@paris.in.my.pocket But truly love your enthusiasm, have never seen a comment so pumped for the RER before! :D

Thank God for the Navigo easy, the paper tickets are unreliable crap.
Also tip for my fellow American compatriots, straight down or up arrow on signs does not mean going up or down, it means go straight 😂 je me fais attraper à chaque fois.
How long does the metro stop at each station?
Depends on how busy the line is. 10-30 seconds?
So if I go from a metro journey on to a bus (within 90 mins ttl travel time) do I need to tap my navigo card when I get on the bus? Thank you! 😊
A tourist can get Navigo Easy?
Yes ! They're made especially for short stays. They don't use a name or something. We use different cards that need more IDs.

Since I now use a wheelchair, The Metro is not as good as The Tube... though I use the buses more...
Definitely - the metro has a long way to go for accessibility, busses are still the way to go for now
The RER is a lot more accessible than the métro.
Only M14 is fully accessible in the métro, while the vast majority of RER stations are accessible from street to platform.
Tramways on the periphery are also accessible.
The RER isnt really that complicated if you get used to it.
Same with anything, right?
I wonder if Jay thinks in French or English

How bad actually is it in London if the Paris metro is better...
The Paris metro is fantastic; nothing's perfect but it's really efficient overall

You should see a real good metro in Moscow.
