Its no different then the housing business, once everyone thought they were online and TV researched experts and started getting into flipping houses, the house prices dramatically increased and so did quality of these houses and craftsmanship of them. People just looking for quick money because they watched DIY or watched RUclips. So is the hotshot business. Way too many inexperienced inept and obtuse drivers who did or are doing the same thing as in the housing industry. They just want the quick advertised pay and the easy type of loads that they expect to get and get paid top dollar for. They either make honorable hotshot and commercial drivers look bad or have more enforced scandalous regulations on them. Next there are bigger and far more lucrative transportation companies that are getting squeezed by the Hotshot industry in load rates and have better lobbyist and unions protecting them and they have alot of agencies in their pockets and they can make the industry for everyone else very challenging especially hotshot drivers. Next is the Government which can be easily provoked and convinced by the aforementioned. So get better educated and more experienced and truly know the game and what you can and can't do no matter how much you think it's erroneous and unfair before anyone thinks they are going to be successful in this industry. You gotta love this job not just the pay and freedom. You pay for the incentives with compromises. That nice pay day comes with alot of stress and risk. Your days that are nice and calm and make easy money will make it up on the lousy days and you lose money and time. Driving is very unpredictable and predictable at the same time. Remember that everyone has the hand or wants their hands in the massive cookie jar and some are just neck deep in it. Just the way it is. Come prepared, expect to work long and hard hours on average and for at least 5 years before your set and can reach the next level without blowing your load. Always separate business with personal finances, get soundly protected both equipment, business and yourself, like Aflec, because workers comp won't pay half of your pay especially in some states which set their own workers comp regulations, so if your hurt especially permanently that can suck more then it has to especially raising a family, unless you have a solid 3rd party case. I've been a Class A commercial driver for 24 years, 8 years hotshoting before a severe work injury left me permanently disabled. So I would definitely know. But of course do your own due diligence and research for yourself and get protected. Your son is very adorable and may be a future driver himself ✌🏾🇺🇲

Question when you went to cdl school did u still have to test at the dmv or did they test st the school and gave them to you after u past

I looked into hotshot, you won't make any real money unless your equipment is paid off, fuel prices are crazy, breakdowns, being away from home, sleeping in the back of your truck. Better off being a truck driver for a company. If you run 341 days out of the year with no hotel stays you'll b lucky to make $80,000 a year after expenses. I did my research, maybe when Im close to retiring I might try it. good luck!!!!

Thanks for the video. Im a CDL driver rn and lots of these guys talk about owner operating, but it seems like the expenses almost outweigh the gross earnings. If i wanted to be an independent contractor it looks like HotShot is the way to go. Especially with a used (pre DEF) truck (or small daycab tractor) for like 25-30K$ and like a 5 car trailer (new).

I got Central Dispatch for one month and ditched it, the rates were so low there’s no way. That was about 8 months ago.

I’ve been in transportation for 22 years and I’ve been in the car hauling game for about five months. In my opinion I think Central dispatch is over priced. I use Super Dispatch, they are free. I’m home every night with a two car hauler and I do OK. I am making new contacts and I hope to eventually get off the board all together or just use them for back hauls. I hope these new guys learn how to negotiate better so they don’t bring the rates down on the board.
