Brilliant how Troi is in the background looking at Picard, sensing his attraction for Cmdr Darren and smiling.

The way she pretends to have no clue how to even hold it in order to trick him into getting over his shyness and playing it in front of her to demonstrate proper use…I can’t believe Picard fell for that. It’s how you know she’s swept him off his feet. It’s my favorite single moment of the episode.

This scene is so wonderful and tragic knowing what will happen to her later in the episode.

This shows episode is amazing... To think she meets him by commuting the biggest rule on the ship... DO NOT MESS WITH THE CAPTAINS TEA!!! Then to brake down all the walls he has up to distance him self from the crew emotionally to the romance to him being crushed with what he thinks is her death, to the joy of seeing her beam up after the fire storm, to her transferring out from under him....

Rip Wendy Hughes. If she hadn’t died, I wonder if Nella Daren would’ve been in ‘Picard’.

It took a while to realize why this scene struck me so powerfully when I watched it during its first broadcast. It was a half buried memory of a movie I'd seen before, the Disney Sunday Movie, "Young Harry Houdini".

This scene is the perfect representation of how you're supposed to build complexity from simplicity. The original piece is childishly basic but as they progressively build on top of it, they construct a more elaborate song filled with new notes. This, my friends, is the essence of software development. Bet you didn't see that coming 😆

Man, I can’t believe I didn’t remember this episode. It’s absolutely magical.

They don't make Hollywood writers like they used to. Aspiring writers take note. This right here is how to construct a scene.

Given Wil Wheaton's years of service to the show, he really deserved a much better exit than this dross. Erik Menyuk makes a nice cameo towards the end of that episodes but that is far too little, too late. Before that we have over 30 minutes of Wesley sulking, a boring conflict between some (stereotyped) Native Americans and the Cardassians and some very trite dialogue that sounds like it came from a teen drama. The only thing, Traveller reapparance aside, that the episode has in its favour is that the stage starts to be set for the arrival of Voyager later that year with its mixture of Maquis and Starfleet.

The callback to The Inner Light episode was heart warming to see. The episode clearly meant a lot to the writing staff and Patrick Stewart. It makes sense the experiences of living another life would stick with Picard forever.
